to think Duchess Kate is worryingly thin?

Just saw pictures of the Royal Family coming out of Church at Christmas and was struck by how incredibly thin Kate is, especially around the waist and hips.

I'm sure I will be accused of just feeling jealous, but honestly I would be concerned if I saw an 18-y-o girl that skinny, let alone a woman in her 30s with three children. I can't imagine how severely you have to diet to be that thin so soon after giving birth. I know she is naturally slim but even so, I am worried the constant media attention is having a bad effect on her self-image/mental health.

I was the slimmest when breastfeeding and am overweight now so not a brag. I think she looks bloody good as others have said she's got three young children and is going to be Queen one day no pressure then!
Tbf her DM is also thin honestly think she's a slim build always has been and she works out good for her!

JamieOliversChickenNugget · 31/12/2018 18:37

She's going to be Queen Consort, like the Queen Mother. Not Queen. It's different.

What's her exercise regime?

IcedPurple · 31/12/2018 18:42

| don't find it terribly 'fanciful' to think that Kate might spend time on MN or similar sites.

Let's face it, despite all the comments above about how she's so thin from 'running after the kids' (please!) she's got a lot of time on her hands. No real job in the sense most of us would understand it, and an army of staff to cater to her and her children's every whim.

I suspect being 'royal' is actually pretty boring much of the time.

IcedPurple · 31/12/2018 18:44

I didn't see one morbidly obese person in New York. People walk everywhere!

New York - or at least the parts of New York foreigners are likely to visit - is very different from most of the US. I'm sure if someone were to spend their time in the UK in Knightsbridge or Kensington they'd be gushing about how slim and stylish British women were.

NonExistentFox · 31/12/2018 18:44

she's got a lot of time on her hands.

Are you her diary secretary?

I'm not entirely sure what a 'diary secretary' is, but Kate's official engagements are publically available on the court circular. There ain't a whole lot of them, and that was the case before she had children too.

However, if you want to think that a woman with a part-time job (and that's being generous) and a palace full of staff is snowed under with work, that's up to you.

Slipperboots · 31/12/2018 18:56

Every time I see her now I think how thin/gaunt she looks. I think she’s got thinner with every child.
It’s not just that she is slim, it’s just that she has gotten thinner. She was slim when she got married, now there is nothing left.

megletthesecond · 31/12/2018 19:10

She (probably) didn't have a personal trainer / home gym / pilates teacher in her early 20's.
Anyone would change shape a decade on with an excellent fitness regime, less drinking and three children.

How often do you see her?
As I know people who see her every week - as in for real - and she is NOT GAUNT

You are comparing her with all the fat people in the rest of the country.

RiverTam · 31/12/2018 19:11

talkin 2 actresses off the top of my head that I think are gaunt are Jessica Chastain and Michelle Forbes (currently in Berlin Station on More4 where she really doesn't look healthy at all to my eye).

IcedPurple · 31/12/2018 19:14

Jessica Chastain? Unless she's lost a lot of weight recently I've always thought of her as one of the more 'normal' sized women in Hollywood.

RiverTam · 31/12/2018 19:17

Really? I think she looks borderline skeletal. Really unheathily skinny.

IcedPurple · 31/12/2018 19:18

Have you got a recent picture of her? Last time I saw pics of her she looked fine.

Ta1kinPeace · 31/12/2018 19:20

RiverTam
OK, I thought of a gaunt celeb
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brittany_Murphy at the end of her life .....
There is a HUGE difference between toned / lean and
scrawny / thin (what used to be called heroin chic)

I have gym friends who crossed the line and its really hard to deal with
but
Kate Cambridge is channelling her inner Princess Royal
you know
Anne
The one who still wears the same coats she did in the 70s
but nobody calls her gaunt
despite her weighing the same now as she did then

NonExistentFox · 31/12/2018 19:29

She was married 18 months before her first pregnancy, did as much as William, and has cut down markedly since then. So she's a SAHM. And for every public engagement there's probably hours of glove design and smiling practice to see to.

However, if you want to think that a woman with a part-time job (and that's being generous) and a palace full of staff is snowed under with work, that's up to you.

Again, you don't know how much the staff do. Maybe she insists on making the sandwiches.

stickystick · 31/12/2018 19:36

It helps that she smokes like a chimney.

IcedPurple · 31/12/2018 19:40

She was married 18 months before her first pregnancy, did as much as William,

I doubt that, considering William was an RAF search and rescue pilot in those days.

So she's a SAHM.

Well, she's supposed to be a 'working royal'.

Again, you don't know how much the staff do.

Neither do you. But I would say it's a fairly reasonable assumption that someone with a palace full of staff isn't going to have them twiddle their thumbs all day.

Maybe she insists on making the sandwiches.

Maybe she does, though I doubt it. And even if she does, that's a free choice of hers, not an obligation.

I find this discussion slightly silly tbh. Of course a woman with no real job who lives in a fully staffed palace is going to have quite a bit of spare time. But like I said, if you want to believe otherwise, that's up to you.

NonExistentFox · 31/12/2018 19:47

a palace full of staff

You keep saying this. Are you their accountant or something? How do you know exactly how many footmen are on the roster?

NonExistentFox · 31/12/2018 19:53

Well, she's supposed to be a 'working royal'.

You mean like a working sheepdog? Even they get time off for babies.

GaryBaldbiscuit · 31/12/2018 19:54

I read that the queen doesn't eat carbs, just meat or fish and vets, perhaps they all follow her lead
