to think Duchess Kate is worryingly thin?

Just saw pictures of the Royal Family coming out of Church at Christmas and was struck by how incredibly thin Kate is, especially around the waist and hips.

I'm sure I will be accused of just feeling jealous, but honestly I would be concerned if I saw an 18-y-o girl that skinny, let alone a woman in her 30s with three children. I can't imagine how severely you have to diet to be that thin so soon after giving birth. I know she is naturally slim but even so, I am worried the constant media attention is having a bad effect on her self-image/mental health.

StarUtopia I said the same thing, if you look thin in photos you are really thin.

PineapplePower · 30/12/2018 00:37

nothing like another woman to put a woman down - disgusting

Nothing like being gaslit into thinking extreme weight loss should be celebrated, worse, that it’s natural. Look at her grad pics, very lovely and she’s at a normal weight.

I don’t get it. Celebs go on extreme diets, lose loads of weight, “joke” about the fact they never eat, and people will still insist it’s real and natural and the rest of us are jealous fatties or something.

The better question is why women in her position feel the need to be as thin as possible? Duchess of Pork was decades ago, surely there’s less fat shaming now? Maybe fat is a feminist issue after all ....

Also, I wish PPs who claim to have been thin-shamed would be more sympathetic. Yes, it sucks to get comments. I get them too from my family. But fat people really don’t have it easy in this society. They just don’t, and thin shaming is kind of like reverse racism. It’s real, but still comes from a place of privilege.

Who doesn't look fuller and prettier in their college days.
She is in her 30s collagen breaks down in the skin. Yes people who are obese have fuller faces, like Eamonn Holmes says you do not get wrinkles on a balloon. Personally I think big women are beautiful and usually have better looking faces than slimmer women.

ttheycantalk · 30/12/2018 00:40

theycan haha. Seriously?! You think everyone is jealous! Serously?

Yes.
I am jealous of her figure.
She looks really athletic. and toned. Always a healthy look to aspire to.
Clothes look amazing on her.
She has hair to die for.

Yep, wouldn't mind looking like her.
Tall and slim.

JustABetterPlayer · 30/12/2018 00:43

Nope it’s just you are acclimatised to seeing overweight people. The fact we see a size 12 as being slim says it all really.

Lilifer · 30/12/2018 00:46

OP really it's quite possible to be that thin so soon after a baby. I am 5ft10 and have been around 9.5 stone pretty much constantly since I was about 25, and I have had 5 kids, I'm now 49. I eat what I want but I'm also very physically active as 5 kids are hard work, and my mum was the same all her life, a size 8/10 and had 6 of us.

Some people are born like that, and if you are active and eat fairly healthily you'll be slim without much effort. Kate prob puts in a bit more effort with personal chef and a proper training regime etc but even if she was just a normal mum she would still probably be fairly slim.

See I think the 'better question' is why when over 65% of the UK population is obese or overweight, people don't spend as much time being 'worried' about their own weight and the weight of their children?

Far better use of 'worry' than to waste it on someone they've never met and most likely never will.

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:46

I like Kate very much for all sorts of reasons. She is engaging and poised and beautiful; she has a great sense of fun, is competitive and has a brilliant smile.
But she is in danger of becoming too thin altogether.

canigetaliein · 30/12/2018 00:47

Kate Middleton is a size 6-8 & is tall. That is thin & not the norm for most women of her height & age after children. Simples.

homegrownmumma · 30/12/2018 00:47

Her mum and sister are exactly the same shape , probably just genetic

This is not related to the pressure that celebs feel to maintain their weight. That’s the issue in this particular thread.

Lilifer But your a healthy weight, I would say KM is not even 8 1/2 stone

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:56

Exactly, Pineapple. However, some contributors are determined to ignore this.

Why do you need a pic of me to compare? For what reason?

Isn't the reason obvious? I'd live to judge your figure as you claim Kate is too thin - Let me judge your body.

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:57

Who is Gemma Collins?

EmeraldShamrock · 30/12/2018 00:57

Her DM is obviously fit. She was a sporty child.
Routine exercise in a child helps to form their physical shape for years.
A few of my friends are EE, they start their baby on a gym ball from a few months old with regular exercise they have a solid frame by 5.

You would say? equates to you don't have a clue - I weigh less, I'm healthy and slim - what do you weigh?

How do you know she feels pressure. Maybe she enjoys the feeling she gets from exercise and good food.
Some people do not struggle it is just their lifestyle.

Anyone can say anything they like on the internet. Are we meant to believe you?

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 01:06

Is Gemma Collins a reality tv person? I do not watch programmes like that.

Agreed - though I can't resonate why anyone would lie? PM me and I'll give you my FB link

canigetaliein · 30/12/2018 01:14

MissusGrinch2018 Are you the same height too? If so then you will know that not many people are your weight and height in daily life particularly once you get older. I’ve said upthread & other threads I used to do modelling & generally can tell what thin in photos translates to in real life but there will be some discrepancies muscles, body type. Im far too “fat now at 5.91/2 & 10 stone but happy with my weight.

MissusGrinch2018 · 30/12/2018 01:15

Further to that I think it's quite sad anyone would pretend to be be something they're not - all the while 'preaching' it's ok to be overweight.
