to think Duchess Kate is worryingly thin?

Just saw pictures of the Royal Family coming out of Church at Christmas and was struck by how incredibly thin Kate is, especially around the waist and hips.

I'm sure I will be accused of just feeling jealous, but honestly I would be concerned if I saw an 18-y-o girl that skinny, let alone a woman in her 30s with three children. I can't imagine how severely you have to diet to be that thin so soon after giving birth. I know she is naturally slim but even so, I am worried the constant media attention is having a bad effect on her self-image/mental health.

There's always some smart arse who dredges up a couple of photos from when she was at uni as if to say 'ta-da! Behold the evidence!' ffs were we not all a bit fuller-faced as late teenagers compared to now, especially whilst at bloody uni. She is naturally thin, end of. It's genetics, build and a love of sports. I doubt she even has to 'work at it' tbh. Most people don't who are of a naturally slender disposition.

pallisers · 30/12/2018 00:16

All the people who are saying she's naturally slim and looks perfectly normal. Do you honestly believe she isn't working hard to be that weight/size?

I think she does exercise quite a bit - she looks toned and fit. Her working hard is probably just not eating that much (and what you eat includes a lot of protein) and moving quite a lot. Plus a good base metabolism. My dsis seems to do this without thinking. It isn't exactly climbing mount everest.

PineapplePower · 30/12/2018 00:16

Honestly yes. I walked out of the hospital wearing my pre pregnancy clothes after every one of my 4 children

I believe your situation, but there’s photographic proof she was heavier (in a good way) in uni and beyond, and people still insist it’s all natural Hmm

pallisers

In the US vast swathes of the population are grossly overweight. 🙄Put your own house in order and all that...

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:18

In fact, the fast food culture originated in the US. Pity it had to be foisted on the rest of the planet.

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:21

It is absolutely the case that Kate looks a bit gaunt these days. As you age it is perhaps advisable to maintain a sense of proportion when it comes to weight watching, no?

StarUtopia · 30/12/2018 00:24

Op I agree with you. She looks bloody awful. And no, I haven't lost sight of what slim looks like. She's not slim. She's thin, And not in an attractive way at all.

She was slim when she was at uni and looked fab. It's not normal to be thinner in your 30\s than you were at 18.

ttheycantalk · 30/12/2018 00:24

Think we shouldnt be too quick to condemn the US for being overweight.
We have caught up. And some.

We are one of the fattest nations in the world.

MissusGrinch2018 · 30/12/2018 00:27

I disagree she looks gaunt - shes a mum of three children and when she's dressed up looks amazing - nothing like another woman to put a woman down - disgusting.

ttheycantalk · 30/12/2018 00:27

What have we come to?

Fit and well = Awful.
Overweight = Healthy.

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:27

Kate on her graduation day at St Andrews:

She looks so pretty here and so much healthier.

MissusGrinch2018 · 30/12/2018 00:28

Hi star - could we have a pic of you to compare?

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:29

You may disagree all you wish but as she ages she has begun to look gaunt.

ttheycantalk · 30/12/2018 00:29

Oh for god's sake, will people stop pulling out the 'kate in her uni days' photos?

We all had fresher, fuller faces and figures when we were young uns.
It aint rocket science that people lose some weight in their faces as they get older ffs.

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:31

Fast food culture invaded from across the water - the Atlantic not the Channel. I blame that.

BlancheM · 30/12/2018 00:31

As she ages

Well there's your clue, then. She's ageing. Should she have some fillers then so as not to offend your eyes?

Togaandsandals · 30/12/2018 00:32

I know people on here sre saying we have lost sight of what normal weight is but to me she looks underweight. I know some people are naturally very thin but she looks as someone who is underweight for her frame.

katekat383 · 30/12/2018 00:32

Why the ffs? Are people not permitted to present the case as they see it?

StarUtopia · 30/12/2018 00:32

Why do you need a pic of me to compare? For what reason?

The4thSandersonSister · 30/12/2018 00:32

I'm sure the lady in question has a who slew of Royal Physicians and Harley Street Specialists she could call upon should she require any "help". Frankly, your whole thread is thinly disguised froth-bait dressed up as "faux concern". Not sure what you get from whipping up the pro/anti DoC brigade and weight "neggers". Hope you enjoy the ☕️.

PickAChew · 30/12/2018 00:33

She looks fine.

Look at the shape of her calves. Hardly wasting away. She probably weighs a good stone or two more than people would guess at, as she's muscular. And as others have pointed out, nowt wrong with her fertility.

ttheycantalk · 30/12/2018 00:33

Jealousy. End Of.
Shes is probably is/was breast feeding. That uses up a ton of calories. I was slim as anything when I was breast feeding. I used to eat for three, never mind two and I couldn't put on weight.
Give the woman a break.

And if ever there was a need of
this is not in the spirit of Mumsnet message, then this warrants it.

canigetaliein · 30/12/2018 00:33

I pretty sure she partakes in botox & fillers (nothing wrong with that) as she seems to stop when pregnant but obviously it gives her more volume in her face.

StarUtopia · 30/12/2018 00:34

togs I think people forget that the camera adds at least 10lbs too!

I've not seen her in real life, but I have met celebrities in real life who don't look this thin, and they were tiny. Really tiny!

StarUtopia · 30/12/2018 00:35

theycan haha. Seriously?! You think everyone is jealous!

I probably am, but certainly not of her figure and face. Her money maybe!
