am I a slob for not to have cleaned the toilet since Xmas eve?

Am i a slob? I've not cleaned the one and only toilet here since Xmas eve. We had 7 people here for Xmas dinner and 18 people round yesterday for boxing day so that toilet has seen a lot of action is guess. Just wondering where I am on the slob scale? Grin I will clean it before bedtime tonight though.

Lol at social workers thinking not cleaning a toilet for a couple of days as an indicator of abuse.

Halfway through reading the thread I asked dh how often cleaning routines come up on the few Male dominated forums he uses, or how often they ask for advice on how often to wash towels and bedding and if they'd be judged for not cleaning their toilet daily. He looked at me like I was stupid and said 0

I don't think you're a slob or abusing your children 😀

I would imagine the average toilet bowl gets a good wash more often that many social workers do!

Ladymargarethall · 28/12/2018 23:41

In what IS do social workers have time to inspect loos? In ours the service is so stretched they really are limited to life and death cases.Sad

Maryann1975 · 28/12/2018 23:45

I’m laughing at the thought that a social worker would care that my toilet hasn’t been cleaned for a week. I’m friends with social workers and have had two round for drinks on separate occasions since my toilet was last cleaned and neither of them have passed any judgement on my slattern ways. I shall report back here if I hear anything from them or their colleagues in a professional manner though (which would indicate they have reported me), but I suspect they have actual abuse and neglect cases to deal with, rather than a parent who is being a bit lazy over Christmas.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 29/12/2018 09:42

I don’t even think it’s laziness with a lot of people. People are becoming much more aware of environmental problems and the use of chemicals and the plastic containers they come in. If my not cleaning the toilet more than once a week helps to save a few fish (as well as my sanity) then so be it!

And you know, it’s not really that long ago that most of the working class only had access to an outside toilet. I bet THAT didn’t get cleaned more than once a week! Just because it’s now inside our house, some people seem to want it like a piece of mahogany furniture and keep it looking polished!

The4thSandersonSister · 29/12/2018 09:46

Now you need to invite a whole van-load of tradespeople around to add the finishing touches. Grin

DickTurpinsHat · 29/12/2018 09:47

I'm very disappointed because I clicked on the thread expecting it to have been written this morning, so 5 days since cleaning. I was going to say it was fine not to clean the bog for at least a week but them I'm a lazy slattern.

Disappointing, very disappointing.

TheyMostlyComeAtNightMostly · 29/12/2018 10:16

If the toilet appears clean and we keep the lid closed when we flush, why would we need to clean it so often? It's not like we eat out of it or anything.

Confusedbeetle · 29/12/2018 10:20

If you have considerate users they will keep it civilised themselves. Train them. All it needs is a quick wipe

Limensoda · 29/12/2018 10:20

We have three toilets.
I clean them thoroughly inside and out once a week. They always look spotless and no one in our house is messy or careless when they go to the loo.

DaphneDiligaf · 29/12/2018 10:31

Well now we know why some children are left to be battered, buggered and murdered while under the watchful eyes of Social Workers, they lived in houses with clean toilets!

Oblomov18 · 29/12/2018 10:39

Clean a toilet in 3 minutes?
Really?
Takes me ages. Hmm

That's probably why I try not to do it too often.

Oblomov18 · 29/12/2018 10:43

WintryFrost:

"DH is a senior social worker and I'm sorry to tell you that that dirty/uncleaned toilets are viewed as a potential indicator of abuse by him and his teams. I'd be getting it cleaned."

WTF? ShockShockShock

cadoth · 29/12/2018 10:44

When u say clean what exactly are people meaning ? I squirt bleach round the rim and use wet ones on the seat every few days , is that what people mean? Or a proper wet rags around the whole toilet job?

Gettingbackonmyfeet · 29/12/2018 10:45

This has made me laugh but to be fair if pp DH is a senior social worker and makes stupid decisions like that I am willing to bet I've come across the team at some point ...i have heard some stupendously idiotic judgements from sw in 20 years (and met some amazing genuinely life changing sw so it all balances out )

OP you're good I very much doubt social services will come a knocking because you know...normal household issues, glad the toilet of doom has now been cleaned...cant say mine has yet bar a quick squeeze of bleach and flush every fee days but shockingly the family seem to be alive .

It's a risk mind you ...we like to live on the wild side and do you know I haven't cleaned the fridge for two weeks

Won't someone please think of the children

DonaldDucksTowel · 29/12/2018 11:08

I’ve never cleaned my fridge ... shall I just drop the kids off at a social services office myself do you think? 🤔

Gettingbackonmyfeet · 29/12/2018 11:10

Only if you check the state of their office toilets too Grin
