am I a slob for not to have cleaned the toilet since Xmas eve?

Am i a slob? I've not cleaned the one and only toilet here since Xmas eve. We had 7 people here for Xmas dinner and 18 people round yesterday for boxing day so that toilet has seen a lot of action is guess. Just wondering where I am on the slob scale? Grin I will clean it before bedtime tonight though.

Does it look clean? Then it’s fine. No one is drinking out of it, after all.

Jeez, I have got so many better things to do than clean a loo every 10 seconds (mostly reading books and drinking gin).

Schmoobarb · 27/12/2018 23:33

I cleaned ours on Sunday. I’ll bleach it before bed. It looks clean and has no splatters or skid marks so it meets my low cleanliness standards. Other than 2 extra for Christmas dinner there’s only been the 4 of us.

OftenHangry · 27/12/2018 23:41

How often do people clean their toilets? For real.

If it's clean you are fine. I bleach mine once a week, but it's only 2 of us normally.

lynnepot · 27/12/2018 23:42

Well if the toilet lid is left up when flushing then the particles from the toilet spread out a couple of feet from the toilet when flushed so you probably are brushing your teeth or washing your face with a filthy toothbrush or flannel yes

gcscience · 27/12/2018 23:45

Children are becoming allergic because of overly hygienic practices.

noworklifebalance · 27/12/2018 23:45

Why does it need to be cleaned so frequently?
By that logic, it would need a clean after each dump but again why?? If it's not visibly dirty I wouldn't bother.
Probably better to clean the floor around the toilet though....

OMG - don't flush with the lid up, absolutely grim. No amount of cleaning is going to help prevent faecal particles splashing all over you, as you will be cleaning the toilet after the flush.

loobylou10 · 27/12/2018 23:48

All those people using it, erm yes, yes you should have cleaned it.

winsinbin · 27/12/2018 23:49

If it’s dirty/stained/splashed then you might be a bit of a slob. If it all looks and smells ok then you aren’t.

Our downstairs loo gets used a lot if we have people over but I find that people are generally good at making sure they leave it as clean and fresh as they found it so no extra cleaning is needed from me.

MyNameIsNotSteven · 27/12/2018 23:53

Christ alive. My toilets aren't stained at all. We're a family of four and I thoroughly clean them once a fortnight if I'm doing well. I bleach them occasionally if I remember. We never leave skids or festering deposits. Every day - get a fucking life.

redfruitgum · 27/12/2018 23:58

Well it's now been cleaned. I do it about twice a week for record but yes it has seen a lot of extra traffic the last few days.

Christmas Eve was only 3 days ago. I can't believe cleaning it again now would even cross someone's mind.

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 28/12/2018 00:04

Confused I would pick up the empty loo rolls (drives me mad) and squirt a bit of bleach under the rim but no if it looks clean it's fine.

Blueblueyellow · 28/12/2018 00:05

Sorry to hijac, bloo blocs and many other cistern type cleaners are really harmful to aquatic life.Hopefully other people read this,I was Xmas Blush when I first found this out..and no you are not a slob it's a holiday week why bother if its not too bad looking!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 28/12/2018 00:07

And yet I have survived all these years... There are many things I can get bent out of shape over, and this is not one of them.

Blueblueyellow · 28/12/2018 00:07

Sorry op cross posted. But point about bloo blocs still stands!

redfruitgum · 28/12/2018 00:10

Does toilet water really meet aquatic life though? It all goes to the sewer no?

I aim to clean the toilets every week, but it's not often we stick to that unless we've got people coming round. We're still alive and are only rarely ill, so I'm not quite sure what people think is going to happen if you don't clean your toilet every five minutes.

Lalliella · 28/12/2018 00:12

My toilets get cleaned once a week, and I don’t give a shit (pun intended)

Bertiebitch32 · 28/12/2018 00:13

Eww......due to our DD being a complete trampette the toilet ends up scrubbed and bleached daily because she thinks nothing of doing a number 2 and walking away without checking to see if the bowl has been smeared so after all those guest using your looking yabu, I'm not anal or pearl clutching but the thought off all those bums being sat on my toilet 🤮

ShannonRockallMalin · 28/12/2018 00:16

Blimey. I am pretty houseproud, but the one time in the year I’m going to give myself a break from cleaning is over Christmas!

My toilets were thoroughly cleaned on Christmas Eve and they’ll be done again before we have more guests at the weekend. I think that’s good enough!

TheBigFatMermaid · 28/12/2018 00:17

I am a bit of a slob elsewhere, but my toilet and sinks get cleaned every day.

I do have a 12 year old DS though. He is a bit rubbish at even basics, like lifting he seat, or then wiping the seat when he has dribble on it.

Once a month I take the seat off and soak it in a bleach bath.

TheSmallAssassin · 28/12/2018 00:18

@redfruitgum, where do you think it goes after the sewer?! Sewage treatment is mainly removing solids and biological treatment, then everything goes back into the sea or rivers.

hmmhohmmm · 28/12/2018 00:19

I guess I'm a slob... except I haven't been home since the 22nd 😆

I did clean a hotel loo though

lynnepot · 28/12/2018 00:20

The way I look at it is if it were just your family then you'd know if anyone in the family at first hand had a virus so every few days probably won't do harm. How do you not know if any of these extra bums had impending sick viruses? I would bleach and take out the unknown germs pretty soonish after the guests had left but that's just me.
