Am i a slob? I've not cleaned the one and only toilet here since Xmas eve. We had 7 people here for Xmas dinner and 18 people round yesterday for boxing day so that toilet has seen a lot of action is guess. Just wondering where I am on the slob scale? Grin I will clean it before bedtime tonight though.

What's wrong with a bloo? Isn't it the same as loo cleaner, as in no better but no worse?

Starlight456 · 28/12/2018 00:28

Gosh I am quite skanky but bedtime clean teeth , clean toilet bed. I do it every night . I do use a toilet brush though 😃

redfruitgum · 28/12/2018 00:29

Surely any cistern block chemicals get so watered down and compounded during the treatment that they are minuscule in essence no?

Next xmas, give your guest a glass of whisky flavoured bleach after lunch. Kill two birds with one stone. The more they go, the cleaner it'll get.

redfruitgum · 28/12/2018 00:31

Whiskey flavoured bleach? Hmm

I guess that's a fair point lynne. I'm glad to report no one in the household has gone down with any bug since Monday though.

That many people it needed to be cleaned daily. Probably you houseguests helped you out.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/12/2018 00:41

I did ours on Christmas Eve, will get done again tomorrow. Only the two of us here, but DP usually poos at work, so it is probably more grotty than usual.

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/12/2018 00:41

Erm, must admit, that does sound a bit slobby to me. And I am not someone who would consider themselves to be a Cleaning Angel by any means. You have had 25 people (ok, my maths might be out - you have had a lot of people!) using one toilet and you have not cleaned it since Xmas Eve? To each their own I guess....

redfruitgum · 28/12/2018 00:52

OK I'm open to being a slob. The post was open to it.

OK by my rough wisdom surely if there were any harmful germs in that toilet then the family would have been struck down by now, no? And secondly, if there is no bug in the house then presumably there are no bad germs in said toilet so is there such a pressing need to do daily cleans?

If it looks clean then it's clean. We keep our toothbrushes in the bedrooms.

How often do toilets at work get cleaned? Is everyone on this thread worried about that, as well?

WintryFrost · 28/12/2018 01:05

DH is a senior social worker and I'm sorry to tell you that that dirty/uncleaned toilets are viewed as a potential indicator of abuse by him and his teams. I'd be getting it cleaned.

noworklifebalance · 28/12/2018 01:07

OMG - don't flush with the lid up, absolutely grim. No amount of cleaning is going to help prevent faecal particles splashing all over you, as you will be cleaning the toilet after the flush

And yet I have survived all these years... There are many things I can get bent out of shape over, and this is not one of them.

Well, of course you haven't but as with so many things, it doesn't stop making it grim.

I'm not advocating cleaning the loo everyday - I am on the other end of the loo cleaning spectrum - merely suggesting to close the lid then flush.

(First two paragraphs should be in bold or similar)

PrivateVasquez · 28/12/2018 01:40

I don't really get why it needs to be cleaned so often? If it has no visible dirt, why would I clean it more than once a week?

safariboot · 28/12/2018 02:07

I didn't clean it in December. I didn't clean it in November. Did I clean it in October? I don't remember.

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 28/12/2018 02:14

You're a grown up. I'm sure you can work out whether or not your toilet needs cleaning Confused

LuluJakey1 · 28/12/2018 02:33

I am not the person who should be answering. I am really fussy about loos. They are cleaned every day inside the loo, and the seat and outside of them and the handle sprayed with antiseptic and cleaned. Then the floor sprayed and cleaned. Takes 5 mins. I sometimes do it more than once a day. If a visitor uses one of them, I do it as soon as they leave. I know, I know!

Rockmysocks · 28/12/2018 05:20

Nah! Haven't done mine since Christmas eve. Been enjoying the time off work, chilling out and generally sitting around in pyjamas eating rubbish to care. Will be giving the loos a good freshen up today though.

troubleswillbeoutofsight · 28/12/2018 05:36

God can anyone imagine a bloke ever, ever writing something like this? It's almost 2019 and this could have come from a 50's magazine problem page

Severide08 · 28/12/2018 09:09

Nope op i dont think you are .It Christmas Grin.Slightly off topic MrsTommyBanks we have an elderly dog who cant make it outside in time we have quite walk for her to back door so we buy nappies ,cut hole in it and saves lot mopping and she seems lot happier. Cleared it with our vet .Just a thought when i read your post .

OftenHangry · 28/12/2018 09:14

Fun fact.
Your tv remote has more bacteria on than your toilet😁

Strugglingtodomybest · 28/12/2018 09:26

@troubleswillbeoutofsight that was my first thought too.

Oh give over! Or are you joking? It’s hard to tell. The type of dirty toilets that would be a red flag to your DH are the ones in this picture, not ones with a single tiny skid mark or a wee splash!
