To be annoyed at people in large 4X4 pickups to complain that parking spaces too small

Hi, I had parked my car neatly within the lines marked out for the parking bay and was just returning back to it when a woman in a MASSIVE pick-up truck parks right next to me and so i have to wait as she gets out of her car.
She almost bashes my side of the car and then she gives me a look an says "Its not my fault these spaces are not big enough"
I had to really bite my tongue as she had two school age children with her as i would have loved to have said "well, most people drive normal cars and we don't all have a fat arse like you"
Because, no kidding, she was a fat arsed lady, almost totally round, no wonder she can't fit in spaces.
God help her if someone blocks her in, should be a funny sight trying to crawl in the boot to move the car.
Sorry about the rant, but she really got on my goat.

  • and Aitch's Wanker could be taken for re-education and integration by the Officials. Community service - building wildlife areas and planting trees etc.

But I like taking my shit-covered Landrover to London occasionally (about once every 5 years) because it shames all the shiny 4x4s - they lower their headlights and creep off down alleys, thoroughly belitted by the sight of their genuine, hard-working, fit, toned and smelly country cousin. And when they discover it can even grow mushrooms in the mud in the boot they weep with despair at their trivial and unfulfilled lives.

Blu · 27/06/2007 11:46

Can anyone advise me?
I have one child, but I have noticed for nearly 6 years now that he justs keeps getting bigger and bigger.
I am also getting a bit bigger, not as quickly as my DS, but I have increased by two clothes sizes since he was born.
Do I need a 4x4?

expatinscotland · 27/06/2007 11:48

Aitch's Wanker's pals all live in my street.

TheDuchessOfNorks · 27/06/2007 11:48

No Blu, get yourselves some bikes

dal21 · 27/06/2007 11:53

Live and let live I say! As someone new to MN am shocked at how 'heated' some debates on here can get.
Maybe I need to grow some skins and venture back when I have the courage to post my real opinions!

Hathor · 27/06/2007 11:55

da - don't be scared. I think some of it is tongue-in-cheek, some is cheek-by-jowl, and some is just arsy.

IcingOnTheCake · 27/06/2007 11:59

I do agree with what your saying about the 4x4 drivers who use their cars like they own the road and only have one because it looks good. But on the other hand, it's just another example of parcing the blame isn't it. Everyone who drives a car/lorry/van etc are helping towards polluting the planet, but i guess it's just easier the blame the 4x4 drivers isn't it? Like it's easier to balme the smokers and the obese people for helping towards the nhs failing. Society today just wants to blame everyone else other than themselves for everything thats wrong with the planet, well fact is we are ALL to blame. We all contribute in some way whether you drive a mini or a bus. So just stop trying to blame everything other than yourselves because i find it extreamly small minded to blame 4x4s all the time when i fact drivers of anykind are to blame.

And when someone said if you wander out into the road infront of a 4x4 you are more likely to be hit. Well if you wander out into the road full stop then it's your own stupid fault, not the drivers.

Quattrocento · 27/06/2007 12:05

Blu, just two more questions before we can diagnose whether or not you are ready for a 4x4

  1. What are your parking skills like? If pitifully inadequate, then you might be ready.
  2. Your increase in girth. Objectively are you fat enough to qualify? If your dress size increase is from an 8 to a 12, then you are not quite ready. I think you need to get up to an 18 before you can consider a 4x4

Incidentally, have you seen the 4x4 with a crane? So handy for those difficult to squeeze moments.

Boco · 27/06/2007 12:05

dal21 the live and let live thing is fine on lots of topics - but these things have an impact (pun intended) on all our lives - environment and safety - so i think we should be able to voice our opinions.

Icing - it's children most likely to be killed stepping out in front of 4x4s. If hit by a smaller car they have greater chance of survival. The 'it's their own stupid fault for stepping out' argument just doesn't sit right.

IcingOnTheCake · 27/06/2007 12:08

But in most cases you cannot blame the driver when someone steps out infront of the car.

Aitch · 27/06/2007 12:08

everyone's bad, icing, but you're worse. [arsey] and your problem is that you know it...

Aitch · 27/06/2007 12:09

if someone steps out in front of my car they've got a chance, icing. your car... they're ketchup. it's a medical and culinary fact.

Boco · 27/06/2007 12:10

Ok you can't blame driver if someone steps out. If the driver is driving a 4x4 and therefore knows that if a child steps out they will kill them, rather than injure them as they would in a smaller car - then although it's not their fault the child stepped out - they have a responsibility for that death due to their choice of car.

IcingOnTheCake · 27/06/2007 12:10

I drive a polo so your wrong they do have a chance

Aitch · 27/06/2007 12:11

it's because of the height of the bumpers btw. my car, injuries to legs. yours, an abdomen like a burst football.

Boco · 27/06/2007 12:11

Ohh Aitch - you'd already said that but smaller and neater. Like your car

Aitch · 27/06/2007 12:11
