What gifts have you bought for your loved ones that you can’t wait to see them open?

I’ll start - my SIL has a record player and I’ve got her an LP of a song she really loves and that means a lot to her.

DS has got some Jack Skellington Lego. He doesn't even know it exists he will be thrilled.

He's also got a DS, which he will be so happy with as he hasn't asked for one because he thinks they're too expensive ❤️

KittyClaus · 24/12/2018 09:14

This thread is making me feel all warm and fuzzy. So lovely!

Summerisdone · 24/12/2018 09:42

@BetsyBigNose I'm so glad my post has inspired you to get a rocket notepad, they honestly sound really good, I've obviously not seen it in action yet as it's been wrapped and ready to gift, but all the reviews seemed rather promising.
I think as long as you scan the page after writing down your notes then it's uploaded onto your phone and you can access it through there or transfer it to anywhere else you need to be able to access it.

I see one of the older versions of the notepad required you to microwave it for 30 seconds to clear page, but the newer one just needs a wipe with a damp cloth, so even easier.
Also you can only use their specific pens, but these can be replaced through Amazon at a similar price to most standard pens, and I did see on Google that these pens can be bought in stores such as Ryman's too, though I've not checked myself if that's for sure.

I'm so excited to see this pad in action and I think I may treat myself to one in the new year too Smile

I've made a patchwork quilt for my mum and dad, and another for my DB and DSIL. I can't wait to see them being opened!

proseccoaficionado · 24/12/2018 10:37

My dad: he LOVES to read, his eyes light up when he gets books. We've got him a nice perfume, and the Neapolitan novels (some of you might know it, there is a new series on HBO atm - my brilliant friend) and a fab bookmark
My mom: she is also getting a lovely book and some great earrings
My DP wants a coat for ages and saw one in Paris but couldn't find it anywhere in Europe. i did 😁😁😁

My dd(6) is getting an echo dot and a WiFi bulb for her room. She is obsessed with listening to music and stories and her CD player has been on the blink. She is also scared of the dark and hates getting into or out of bed with the light off so this way won't have to!

Ds is getting the sea patroller he has asked for for the past 18 months while we keep telling him it's too expensive. Santa (dh) has caved and picked it up on his last shopping trip.

Dh is getting Pjs - he will be so excited! 😂

Cagliostro · 24/12/2018 15:25

9yo DS is autistic and loves transformers. He saved up to buy a particular one as I found it on amazon to be “in stock at some point”. Kept getting emails saying we don’t know when... eventually he gave up and used the money for something else (fine as amazon don’t take the money until it is shipped) and I said I’d cancel it. But I didn’t, and Father Christmas found it eventually :o

This will undoubtedly be the most boring present on this thread- but DP and I are skint after sorting the kids out. He got on the ladder for his dream career this year and he constantly feels he’s not well dressed enough- we simply can’t afford it. I got him a nice shirt and a pack of suit socks and some paco rabanne.

irenaballerina · 24/12/2018 15:51

Just read the top half of this thread and was so warming and lovely to read how people are so pleased to give and make other people happy, and how people have chosen such thoughtful gifts not just based on monetary value but on the joy it will bring to the recipient.

Thanks MN for making me smile Smile

Iloveantiques · 24/12/2018 16:09

I'm another that snagged a James Charles palette for dd after it came back into stock for a nano second. She will be thrilled I hope as she said it was the only thing she was going to ask for.

masterstef · 24/12/2018 22:51

@Summerisdone I hadn't heard of these rocketbooks either but this sounds like a great present for DH! What happens if your handwriting is terrible?

Fridaydreamer · 25/12/2018 11:02

DD was so so so chuffed with her James Charles palette. Ran across the room to hug me. Love it Xmas Grin

alfiesmam · 25/12/2018 11:09

How did everyone get on ... omg DS2 little face when he opened the Switch his mouth was moving but nothing was coming out Xmas Grin

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 25/12/2018 11:12

I got DD a Tracker figure from Paw Patrol, the elusive bastard can't seem to be found in the shops but was on. EBay for twelve fucking quid but worth it when her face lit up

ToffeePennie · 25/12/2018 11:16

Pjs! Olaf pjs and a pair of cosy slippers from primark. I love them.
My kids - my baby loves his baby shark and chuckle ball. Both are hilarious and are definitely off to nanny’s tomorrow.
My big one hasn’t had his “best” gift yet but he is going to freak out when he sees his new board games.
My husband hasn’t had his best yet either but I can’t wait to see his face when he opens his sweetie box.

AlanThePig · 25/12/2018 11:46

So so outing if you know me, but dh got me a signed photo of cagney & Lacey and I squealed rather loudly 😂
Over the moon I know I'm weird

masterstef · 25/12/2018 18:47

My 11 mo was tired and grumpy all morning but his presents really cheered him up! Just a second hand walker and some baby toys. Feel slightly bad that his were a bit of an afterthought after all of ds(4)'s...

dementedma · 25/12/2018 19:21

DS's face when he got his new guitar made it all worthwhile. Expensive but worth it. And clever Grandma had bought him a new guitar stand. It's almost as if she knew....

cookiemon666 · 25/12/2018 19:36

For my oldest daughter who is off to uni in September. She never asks for anything, so is hard to buy for. But I nailed it this year, Cath Kidston purse, one of those amazing water bottles, 2 gorgeous tops from NEXT, holographic note book, highlighters and post its for revising, and handcream as she works part time as a carer. I have 4 to buy for and always worry that I'm not getting it right!!

Toomanycats99 · 25/12/2018 19:41

I got my daughter some pyjamas. However I maned to get a matching set with a long sleeve top and short bottoms.

She was very very happy - she hates long trousers as her legs get hot but wants long sleeves so her arms don't get cold - you can't usually get both!

Housingcraze · 25/12/2018 19:44

DP Liverpool stadium tour - never been though has supported them
For years!
