To ask what presents you’re really chuffed with this year?

What gifts have you bought for your loved ones that you can’t wait to see them open?

I’ll start - my SIL has a record player and I’ve got her an LP of a song she really loves and that means a lot to her.

@HebeMumsnet well done on the psychic front! DD also asked for a printer that I’d already bought. We’re legends Xmas Grin

Fridaydreamer · 23/12/2018 21:15

@BlancheM it was a total fluke. They’d restocked it and I just logged in at the right time to check randomly after getting home from the hairdressers. It was the day O2 was down so I’d not been able to check until I was back home on WiFi. I’d already told her I couldn’t get it so she’s gonna squeal Xmas Grin

Ffsnosexallowed · 23/12/2018 21:30

Dd1 has tickets to see panic at the disco, a queen t shirt and a framed poster of a gig we went to earlier this year. Dd2 will love her candy floss machine, and dp has a John Cooper Clark book which he'll love.

problembottom · 23/12/2018 21:40

Our first baby is due on Thursday so I’ve got DP a cute personalised cushion from his little one to be. I’ve also got him a signed book from his favourite person on the telly, who I vaguely know through work. The person in question works with animals and has made out the book to me, DP and the cat, who the present is from. Grin

DS1 doesn’t know that fortnite toys are available in the UK yet he thinks they’re only out in America but he’s asked Santa for them anyway as he’s not sure whether he can bring toys from overseas, I’ve told him not to get his hopes up as I’m not sure it works like that
He’s going to be so chuffed when he opens them Xmas Grin

KonaMum · 23/12/2018 21:50

We’re fairly poor at the moment (well DH always says you aren’t poor if the mortgage and bills are paid and there’s food on the table but there isn’t much spare!) so I’ve made salt dough hand prints from DS (3 months) as a gift from him for grandparents, aunts and uncles etc. They came out really really well with a bit of paint and some varnish so I’m thrilled!

YankOnTheShelf · 23/12/2018 21:52

I got myself someone I'm quite close to an Apple watch and I am totally chuffed with it.

Xmas Grin

Tickets to see Post Malone for my DD. She loves him & was so upset when she couldnt afford the ticket when they were released - i was estatic however as i already had them.

Safely stuffed into a xmas cracker, just need to make sure she gets the right cracker!

dementedma · 23/12/2018 21:56

DS (17) wanted a new bass guitar. Music is his thing and his future but these things are very expensive - for us. I agreed to get him this one thing as a Christmas/January birthday present and he is very very happy with that and knowing he won't have other presents. The suppliers told us it wouldnt be here until Dec 31st as it is custom made so DS knows he wouldn't have anything at christmas other than a few token gifts of smellies/tshirt. However, got a subsequent email from suppliers and the guitar has arrived!!!! DS doesn't know. He is going to be so happy. Can't wait!

JinglebellsJulie · 23/12/2018 22:02

@YankOnTheShelf Merry Christmas Grin

Llareggub · 23/12/2018 22:06

@ffsbosexallowed I had a fag with John Cooper Clarke a few weeks back and got him to perform a poem. Nice chap, if slightly bonkers.

MerryChristmasArthur · 23/12/2018 22:23

I'm pretty chuffed with the present I've bought myself this year.
My dcs were super easy to buy for as they all wanted PS4 pros & Nintendo switches.
I'm more difficult to buy for but this year I nailed it.

Paleninteresting · 23/12/2018 22:28

I got my DD a term of ice skating lessons. She has no clue as I have used all the parental excuses in the book to say it’s not happening. Bless her she sucked them up too.
Her face will be amazing.

Christmasfairy07 · 23/12/2018 22:29

Really pleased with the vegan hamper I put together for DB. I went into an independent health food shop & the assistant was so helpful. Got loads of goodies.
Also happy with the soaps for DM from TK Maxx. Beautifully packaged.

DragonMamma · 23/12/2018 22:30

I’ve paid for me and DD to go to New York for a few days in the Spring. She’s obsessed with seeing America and we half heartedly said we would go to Florida but quickly realised that none of the DC actually liked rides that much so would have been a spectacular waste of money.

We are going with my DM and DSis and are going to embrace our inner tourists! She has no idea we are going and I’ve been sitting on this for 3/4 months now.

HollySwift · 23/12/2018 22:31

I don’t think DH has any idea that I’ve bought him a flying lesson Grin Can’t wait for that one!

Also DS3s cuddly e.coli, DS2s stop motion animation studio and DS1s laptop. All total surprises that they’ll love. DD will just love everything and all I want is to see her little face when the magic happens on Christmas morning.

homeishere · 23/12/2018 22:38

DH and I don’t really do presents but he always longs to be at our house in Cornwall when he’s working...so I’ve bought him a personalised iPhone cover so he can see the sea when he’s at work and daydream about being there.

Purplefrogshoes · 23/12/2018 22:43

I've got DD a giant Kevin the carrot teddy and sailor moon pops that she thought were rare

Ds has a proper bike, he will be made up as he has been asking for months

fancynotplain · 23/12/2018 22:56

A new wedding ring for DH. He has been unable to wear his ring following dramatic weight loss after a serious diagnosis. It has our children nicknames engraved inside and I know he is going to be so happy. He mentioned recently how much he misses wearing a ring. I checked the size while he was sleeping so hope it fits.

Canshopwillshop · 23/12/2018 23:01

@fancynotplain - that’s really lovely. Merry Christmas

DonaldDucksTowel · 23/12/2018 23:04

This thread is giving me the warm and fuzzies Xmas Grin

BillyAndTheSillies · 23/12/2018 23:05

Ds(3) is obsessed with my silver superga trainers and a few months ago asked if he could have some. He didn't mention that he wanted a pair again until earlier this week "Mum, I really want trainers like yours! Can I have yours?". He'll be so excited when he opens the box.

Avis7 · 23/12/2018 23:08

My husband has got roller skates, which are going to turn him into a twelve year old for at least the first hour after he opens them. I've made a book with all the nicest photos of our recently deceased old dog for my daughter, who loved her more than anything. I think those will be my two big wins.

Tippexy · 23/12/2018 23:10

I hope everyone comes back on Tuesday to update how it went!

DonaldDucksTowel · 23/12/2018 23:12

Ahh Avis that’s lovely Smile
