To ask what presents you’re really chuffed with this year?

What gifts have you bought for your loved ones that you can’t wait to see them open?

I’ll start - my SIL has a record player and I’ve got her an LP of a song she really loves and that means a lot to her.

Got my ds (9) tickets to see England play at Wembley in March next year, he is football crazy!! but also knows how much the tickets cost and knows that we would not normally be able to afford it, he never asks for much and I have worked my backside off to get them but I know it is a memory that will last a lifetime for him, I am bursting to give them to him x

littlemeitslyn · 23/12/2018 20:29

Bought adult son a Tassimo as he luffs mine 😁

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 23/12/2018 20:34

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 23/12/2018 20:35

StrumpersPlunkett · 23/12/2018 20:37

I bought dh a night in London with a booking for a restaurant he really wants to go to.

arranbubonicplague · 23/12/2018 20:38

DH has a HydroShot

Is it bad that I now want one?

BikeRunSki · 23/12/2018 20:38

DS - Harry Potter Lego Board Game.
Short of including cricket, this combines all his interests.

BringOnTheScience · 23/12/2018 20:38

DC2 does LARP - dressing up to play your own fantasy character. I've had portraits done of their characters and got them framed.

Moominfan · 23/12/2018 20:38

Got lots of lovely wooden toys for my 2 year old

Creas35 · 23/12/2018 20:39

I got MIL some ugg boots reduced from £150 to £29 in the sale, proper boots not the slipper ones, I think she will really like them and I love what a bargain they were. I got my DM some joules wellies reduced from £40+ to £18 so again a good deal. I love getting bargains and people getting decent brands but I haven’t spent a fortune !

Icantpark · 23/12/2018 20:41

confusedandemployed that’s a strange present to go ‘totally bonkers’ over - I take it given the very niche present he’s very anti English.

masterstef · 23/12/2018 20:41

My DW is a big Joni Mitchell fan so I've got her a Joni Mitchell cd that I assume she hasn't got already.

.

My bit on the side is getting a lovely necklace too. Can't wait to see their faces!

SatsumaFan · 23/12/2018 20:43

My ds1 asked for a Lego Minecraft set which is selling for £210/£240 as it's discontinued. I told him no way.

I then found a 2nd hand one on FB Marketplace for £30! Can't wait to see his face on Christmas Day!

AmIAWeed · 23/12/2018 20:43

My husband's van is great at breaking down, so I've bought him jump leads after borrowing the neighbors yet again...they were wrapped from the minute they arrived as I wanted to be super smug the next time it broke down and give them to him early, except the bloody thing has started every day since it last did it!!!!
The worst present is a watch for my son. I gutted his room last week to clean and tidy only to find the G-Shock watch I bought him 2 years ago still in its box!!! May be sending that one back..

earlybyrd · 23/12/2018 20:44

😆masterstef - love actually is super isn't it

SatsumaFan · 23/12/2018 20:44

masterstef Grin Xmas Grin

bellajay · 23/12/2018 20:49

masterstef Sad

blametheparents · 23/12/2018 20:49

Not for Xmas, but for DS’s 18th birthday (2019) we have bought him tickets for the British Grand Prix (Formula 1).
He will be so delighted, I’m excited to tell him, but I’ve got to wait ...

bobstersmum · 23/12/2018 20:53

One of our ds has asked for buzz lightyear, he loves toy story. He did say he would like all of the characters but I said I think that might be too much for santa!
Anyway. I've hunted virtually all of them down (mostly second but very cared for, as it would have cost his whole present budget to buy new ) and put them all in a toy box together and wrapped it all as one. He is going to be overwhelmed, he will feel like he's meeting the film stars I just know how he is, he's almost 6 and he's a quirky little thing. I'm excited just for that. I'm emotional just thinking about it!

HebeMumsnet · 23/12/2018 20:55

DS put in a last-minute request to Santa (by shouting it up the chimney yesterday) for a Yo-kai Watch (don't ask). Have told him not to get hopes up as it is very late to be asking but feeling quite smug that I know Santa had already obliged in a feat of increcible clairvoyancy.

masterstef · 23/12/2018 20:56

earlybyrd no! I actually hate it with a passion! It's just been on my mind recently!

Llareggub · 23/12/2018 21:01

Very silly but my I came across personalised Nutella jars in town today. DS1 in particular will love it as he has the sort of of name which is never found on anything. I bet the jar never gets opened.

supafish · 23/12/2018 21:02

My dd got engaged earlier this year , I bought her and her fiancée a painting of where they got engaged ! To put in their new home

whatsnewchoochoo · 23/12/2018 21:07

Ahhh @supafish - that's really lovely

Got DH socks. But DS (age 2) specifically chose them. They're going to be DH's favourite thing for years Grin

64ChewsBrains · 23/12/2018 21:12

Wait though, why would supporting Catalan independence mean someone is anti-English? Confused

DD has a doll she longs for, but it’s been discontinued for ages. Found one on eBay and bloody Hermes lost the parcel. Found ANOTHER one on eBay - paid extra to ensure Royal Mail delivery - and it’s safely wrapped up. She will be thrilled 💕
