Just that really friend horrified I’m not going to wrap my stocking fillers. She even wraps up the chocolate coins .

Very very consciously stocking presents are never, ever wrapped

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 20/12/2018 07:04

The beauty of using half a pair of old tights is that no need to run into room, grab stocking, run out, pack stocking whilst worrying kid will wake up and discover stocking gone, then run in and out again. Instead you can simply fill the other leg of the tights and swap them round in one deft move Grin

PumpkinKitty82 · 20/12/2018 07:09

I always wrap stocking fillings , means a get a little longer in bed while they come up to
unwrap them all.
Although I did regret ever starting to wrap
them as it’s so time consuming

SleepySofa · 20/12/2018 07:13

Ours were never wrapped growing up and we dipped, not tipped. So we don't wrap DS's. I suppose if he had a stocking and then just one or two presents under the tree, we might wrap them to make the unwrapping take longer, but he must have 20 wrapped presents downstairs so I think that's enough!

But also, when you see stocking in films, they always have one or two unwrapped gifts sticking out of the top.

Oysterbabe · 20/12/2018 07:13

We wrap everything. DH even wants to wrap DD's bike.

E20mom · 20/12/2018 07:15

Shock yabu. Santa wraps stocking presents in tissue paper.

Torsz · 20/12/2018 07:17

@Preetypup guessing that was aimed at me...wow you're easily amused! It is absolutely hilarious that we get presents out of a felt bag huh!? I can barely cope with how funny that is!!!

MsJuniper · 20/12/2018 07:22

ItWasntMe my mum used to do the same with pillow case pairs. It was years decades before I worked it out.

I think part of the wrapped/unwrapped divide comes from whether FC brings stocking filler bits or bigger presents. He always brought bigger presents to me as a child, always wrapped. He brings medium presents to DS, always wrapped.

AuditAngel · 20/12/2018 07:23

We (I) wrap. I was disappointed when DH said he wasn’t going to wrap mine this year, so I volunteered DD1 (11) to help him out

Ragwort · 20/12/2018 07:27

I just love wrapping gifts, I actually miss the days when I volunteered to wrap all the Playgroup presents Grin. My DS is 17 & I still wrap his stocking gifts.

Musicalmistress · 20/12/2018 07:27

I do a random mix - wrap a few/ leave a few unwrapped. Don’t know why as my parents never wrapped stocking things.

Nicpem1982 · 20/12/2018 07:30

We wrap in special paper only santa uses.
That said theres a couple of bits that are just in there:

A keyring
A tub of slime
Chocolate orange

I ran out of bath paper and will

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/12/2018 07:36

I've always wrapped stocking things - admittedly not as beautifully as non FC presents - and with different, cheaper paper - started that when dds were small so they wouldn't wonder why FC was using the same paper as us - and still do it for adult stockings.

TimeWoundsAllHeals · 20/12/2018 07:37

Mine were never wrapped when I was a kid.

GenericHamster · 20/12/2018 07:39

I bought some Christmassy paper bags (the sort gift shops or even sweet shops might use) for stockings - then I just roll up st one end of the bag or use one bit of tape

Roystonv · 20/12/2018 07:47

Regarding sugar mice, I like to get ahead so when I saw some a few years ago I bought them and stored them away. Stocking preparation time and the mice are no longer crisp and clean but have sort of melted/distorted to a scary mouse type shape. Had to be binned.

Elfinablender · 20/12/2018 07:50

And people banging on about 'magic'? Honestly. It's Christmas, not magical unicorn pixie day. It's about family, warmth, helping others and spending time together. Magic my arse.

I'm going to print this out and put it on the fridge to repeat like a manta every time I get the guilt.

IceniSky · 20/12/2018 08:02

I don't wrap the satsuma, coins and sugar mouse. And I also choose another small item or two not to wrap and wrap the rest. I liked that combination as a child.

SushiMonster · 20/12/2018 08:04

Tissue paper is fine but they should be loosely wrapped

Willow2017 · 20/12/2018 08:06

All the things you mentioned help make xmas 'magical'.
The presents also make it a good time especially for the kids but they arent the b all and end all.
People can make xmas whatever they want it to be there are no rules and why people think they have the right to tell others they are doing it wrong is beyond me.

MakeMineALarge1 · 20/12/2018 08:11

I wrap everything! Tissue paper if necessary, but all presents are wrapped.

Torsz · 20/12/2018 08:11

@Willow2017 I always think this about forums - it would be a lovely place if people could say how they do things without being judged/mocked/made to feel guilty. There's no right or wrong way of celebrating Christmas, it's just interesting to hear what others do!

CountFosco · 20/12/2018 08:17

Now where can I get sugar mice?

Amazon. I went in all the traditional sweet shops in town last weekend and none of them had them. So next year Amazon.

cloudtree · 20/12/2018 08:19

Stocking presents are wrapped in this house. Stockings left at the end of their bed and the DC get into our bed with their stockings to open them.

Father Christmas still brings most presents (stocking presents and lots of the larger ones downstairs under the tree). Presents from us to the DC are wrapped in different paper. DC are 14 and 11 but this tradition will not change!! Grin

F1ame · 20/12/2018 08:20

Yes I always wrap all the stocking fillers except for the tangerine and sugar mouse and maybe the odd chocolate bauble or something. 3 DC aged 10-15, all with about 18 gifts in their stockings, plus about 10 other larger presents each - so that must mean I’ve already wrapped 84 presents Confused - just for my kids. That’s before I even start on anyone else. One year I wrapped a bunk bed and I’ve wrapped loads of bikes over the years. Another time I wrapped a full sized trampoline with a net around it (though that was for a summer birthday) Grin I’ve wrapped dressing tables and allsorts to be honest. DH has never wrapped any DC presents and I have no idea why he doesn’t get involved. It is quite annoying. He will wrap my gifts though.
