To think Deliveroo is utter shite

Yes I know I am being U by not making healthy home cooked food, but I wanted junk Grin

Food was delivered 40 mins after ETA stone cold. Was fancy burger and fries, so cold, greasy and rubbery by the time it reached me ugh. Ticket on the bag said it was ready for pick up by 7:50pm, but didn’t reach me until an hour later.

Deliveroo didn’t give a shite and refused refund. Put some credit (not for the full order) on my account but I just want to delete the app and be done with it!

Yep. Used them once and never again. I ordered food from our favourite pizza place. Usually the restaurant deliver but their website was down so ordered via Deliveroo. Pizza arrived 90 minutes later by some poor bugger on a pushbike who looked like he was going to drop dead from exhaustion. I felt really sorry for him, why Deliveroo thought that a delivery 3 miles away (and uphill) would be best delivered by pushbike I'll never know. Most round here have motorbikes. Food was stone cold and inedible. Utter shite.

CandyCreeper · 18/12/2018 22:19

I never order from them as there is only about 10 restaurants in my area on there. yet 150+ in my friends area 🤷‍♀️ both london. I only use uber eats now.

Saltedcaramel78 · 18/12/2018 22:26

Are Ubereats better at actually getting the food to you @CandyCreeper?

Might have a look at their app, I do like a takeaway every so often! Honestly 90% of the Deliveroo orders I’ve done have been late/cold/wrong/vanished into thin air so time to cut my losses I think

Most deliveroo drivers drive for Uber eats too in Brighton

CandyCreeper · 18/12/2018 22:28

ive never had a problem with them, I even got refunded my whole meal after they sent me a medium meal when i ordered large! wasnt expecting that.

Fantasisa · 18/12/2018 22:29

Stone cold disgusting and expensive food the one and only time I ordered from Deliveroo. I was working late and there is no microwave in the office so it went straight in the bin. Deliceroo refused to refund me too.

TheWickerWoman · 18/12/2018 22:34

Ubereats are awful too.

Last week we ordered McDonald’s, the order arrived in good time but it was completely wrong and a lot less than what we ordered.

I phoned McDonald’s who said I need to contact Uber. Called Uber who kept us on the phone for ages, eventually said they’d credited the account and order again.

When we tried to get into the account they’d blocked it! Two more calls to them, it took a total an hour of phome calls to be told to contact them through a website we couldn’t bloody access!

I eventually tracked them down on Facebook and we got our money back after four days! Awful awful company. Never again.

Their Facebook page is rife with similar complaints.

Lovemygirls2015 · 18/12/2018 22:36

I never use any 3rd party delivery companies. I phone the takeaway direct. Some of these companies charge the takeaway as much as 13% on every order. A lot of the time it’s the same delivery drivers anyway. Last winter my daughter ordered from deliveroo and it was -2 and snowing and the guy came over an hour late on a bike. He was absolutely drenched and had cycled 2 miles in the snow and had to ask them for a towel to dry himself off. That was the last time she used them because she felt it was in humane to have someone on a bike in that weather delivering food because she didn’t want to go out in it. Stupid idea having people on bikes delivering food in the winter.

Lovemygirls2015 · 18/12/2018 22:37

Inhumane*

CandyCreeper · 18/12/2018 22:42

I complained through the app. was instantly refunded no questions asked. 🤷‍♀️.

Hadjab · 18/12/2018 22:46

I run a dessert business that uses Deliveroo, and I can say hand on heart, it’s not the fault of the restaurant. It can take up to half an hour to actually get a driver assigned to pick up a delivery, and can be another half hour before they actually turn up, if at all, and in the meantime, the food is rapidly cooling off. YANBU

HundredMilesAnHour · 18/12/2018 22:57

I used to use Deliveroo a lot (until I went on a health kick!). 75% of the time they were ok but the other 25%? Argh!!

Some Deliveroo drivers seem to struggle to find my building so they get 2 mins away and then it's suddenly 15 mins before they turn up and the food is stone cold.

Once I ordered because it said it'd be with me in 15-20 mins and an hour later I was still waiting. I could have gone to the supermarket to buy food and cooked in that time (and would have done but Deliveroo said only 15-20 mins!)

I've also had a couple of times when the restaurant took way longer than they estimated so I don't use that restaurant anymore.

But what pissed me off the most - and this isn't Deliveroo, this is actually a grabby restaurant - is the restaurant who increases the price of every item on their menu by 50p-£1 (you only know if you compare the Deliveroo menu to their regular menu) so you can pay quite a bit more plus the Deliveroo delivery fee on top plus any tip for the driver. And no, they don't use any different takeaway packaging so that doesn't explain the extra cost. I boycott this restaurant now. Greedy and a little bit sneaky!

recklessruby · 19/12/2018 00:20

Have never used deliveroo but always wondered how the food could stay hot while being transported on a push bike! Don't think I ever will now after stories on here. Yanbu to expect hot fresh food.
We use just eat with no problems or order direct from the pizza place. Never had any problems. Food is delivered when they say and by a guy in a car. It's always piping hot.

AGHHHH · 19/12/2018 01:31

always wondered how the food could stay hot while being transported on a push bike!

They all use those special bags don't they, maybe insulated or something. I'm guessing. [santa]

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/12/2018 04:53

Yes they have insulated boxes, like giant backpacks. We don't have deliveroo where we are, they only have it in or very close to the city centre, which is fair enough when being transported by bike.

No idea if we have Uber Eats, but we never get delivery anyway, because it always takes ages, is cold and the delivery cost just bumps up something that is expensive for what it is anyway. We would just collect or make something easy if not wanting to cook as usually have plenty of food in the house to be able to whip up cheese on toast for example.

KnobOfStork · 19/12/2018 05:00

A friend of mine used to work for deliveroo but now works for a different similar company. Often certain restaurants were prioritising the orders from Ubereats over Deliveroo, and usually weren't beginning to prepare the order until the courier turned up. It's a great idea in principle but certain food just does not travel well, especially from more sit-down type establishments.
When my order has been wrong previously they have refunded without question.

Babygrey7 · 19/12/2018 06:56

Always wondered how they keep the food warm!

It's all moot to me, as nobody delivers where we live, nobody at all. Village life....

Rezie · 19/12/2018 07:03

I've ordered with deliveroo we talk times and I've always been happy. My boyfriend in the other hand doesn't like deliveroo and has been disappointed when ordering to the same address

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 19/12/2018 07:07

I have only used it once and never again. I live at the top of an extremely long, extremely steep hill (20% in places). The food took ages to come and the delivery guy apologised saying he'd had to push his bike up the hill.

I understand as I often do the same with my bike but not so good when you're waiting for hot food.

anniehm · 19/12/2018 07:13

It's been hit or miss. They are including restaurants that a car/motorcycle is needed to get it to us promptly and only have a few in their fleet locally. Also never get fancy pizza from them - the boxes get tipped up and ingredients slide off! Just eat is far better as the restaurant delivers by car, ditto main pizza companies. Uber eats don't have bikes here so are better but barely cover my house despite that (2 miles is nothing by car, no traffic here after 7pm).

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 19/12/2018 07:16

I was hoping that our food wools be delivered in an insulated bag, but it was just in a paper bag from KFC and understandably cold by the time it arrived - which was only 5-10 mins after i was expecting, but enough of there's no insulation.
Uber eats was the same with Macdonalds - just a paper bag, it was stone cold.

We live under two miles from these shops, I didn't go and collect it because parking is shite and I though they'd be on bikes, not just a taxi driver doing it on the side.

Even pizza Hut doesn't have this problem.

TheVanguardSix · 19/12/2018 07:20

Ubereats is worse. They've arrived with cold food and half of it missing. I've had more success with Deliveroo but the reality is, they both suck.
And if there's a mistake, in our case there's been no refund, no compromise, no apology.

I stick firmly with just eat.

TheGlitterFairy · 19/12/2018 07:23

YANBU - I had a Deliveroo driver drop my order on the pavement in front of my house a while ago. He just shrugged and said I’d need to call them again to sort it all out. Helpful!

Think higher. Double it...
