I've done a boo boo and not ordered my fillet of beef in time to cook for my family on Christmas Eve... I can only get it for New Year.

Does anyone know if I can use a different cut?!

I've never done it but a quick google came up with this recipe:

Venison is a lovely alternative, we have a farm near us, any chance of that?

I bought one today from Makro. If you know anyone who has a card, they have them (AND it was only £19.99 kg!)

Waitrose have them (not that I have ever bought one!)

What? There is loads of beef in the supermarkets?

In Waitrose the Aberdeen Angus beef fillet is £49.99 per kg! Shock

Turkey crown wellington but I guess not on Christmas Eve, I have seen it in a Gary Rhodes Cook book.

Individual ones are fine - just get individual fillet steaks and do it that way. Delia has a great recipe- works really well and you can do part of it ahead of time www.deliaonline.com/recipes/international/european/french/mini-boeufs-en-croute
