I'm off food shopping on Thursday. I have an Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Asda and M&S near to me. So go on, tell me all the lovely things I should buy. Alcohol can be included!

Nuts - cashews, almonds, pistachios

Fancy crisps

Slabs of good quality milk chocolate

Whole milk, for extra creamy lattes and hot chocolates

Stuff to make rosemary gin fizz (gin, lemons, sugar, prosecco, fresh rosemary - recipe online!)

Clementines

Cheeseboard - included epoisses, the best cheese ever

Ooo camembert and Cranberry Tartles from M&S

Bowchicawowow · 18/12/2018 11:17

If you have a lovely large bowl buy a load of easy peeler satsumas and put them somewhere handy. They look festive and taste Christmassy and delicious.

Fashionista101 · 18/12/2018 11:17

All. Of. The. Cheese.

Lazybonita · 18/12/2018 11:18

M&S are doing various little dishes of Welsh rarebit and fondue cheese that you pop in the oven then dunk nice bread in. We had one last night it was lovely. They have loads of little brownie bites and various sweet things that I think they have an offer on. We had the billionaire shortbread bites which were a big hit. They also do prossecco and winter berry crisps which have little gold stars on, very festive.

ShadyLady53 · 18/12/2018 11:18

Only came on here to say... all the cheese.

Stilton with Apricots
Double Gloucester with Chives
Wensleydale with Cranberries

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 18/12/2018 11:53

I will cwratinly be buying a plethora of cheeses and some nice biscuits to go with it.
Never had a chutney from M and S.

Dry roasted peanuts
Roasted salted cashews
Smoked salmon
Toblerone

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 18/12/2018 12:05

The Aldi Christmas food aisle looks amazing! Lots of delicious continental cake type things (including chocolate mini stollen Grin) and all the usual savoury nibbles with a twist! Thr black cherry and chocolate mince pies are supposed to be divine.

They have a chiller with a Christmas food range too but I forgot to look!

ChristineBaskets · 18/12/2018 12:06

I'm afraid you won't be able to buy all the cheese as I have already bought it. Sorry.

harriethoyle · 18/12/2018 12:11

Oooh I'm just adding to my online shop. Good Melton mowbray pork pies feature heavily and Tesco has an offer on taittinger champagne! Wine

Fashionista101 · 18/12/2018 12:13

I'd like to share this I made just last night.

Cranberry's in ice cubes - chuck in goblet
Add gin
Fill with Appletiser
Garnish with cinnamon stick and then a wedge of apple (I actually used a tatty peeler and used a curl of apple skin)

Was sooooo good

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 18/12/2018 12:13

Cheese, smoked salmon, cured meat selection, quality street, tin of nice biscuits, dips and crisps, lots of red wine, baileys, Prosecco, gin, fevertree tonic.
Also made a Christmas cake and will make mince pies, so brandy cream and butter to go with those.

ViragoKnows · 18/12/2018 12:40

German christmas biscuits (I'm not even going to try to spell them then fight the autocorrect Smile )

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 18/12/2018 12:56

Meangirls36 · 18/12/2018 12:57

Cheese all the cheese!
Some sausage rolls and pigs in blankets
Make sure you get the decent sausagemeat stuffing and a brining Turkey from waitrose lush!
Nuts can't forget those
A chocolate yule log and mince pies aldi does very nice liqueur pouring cream
Something for boxing day
Lots of nice bread for turkey sandwiches
Orange juice and a pannetone toasted for breakfast
Some stuff for posh hot chocolates and Christmas baking
And don't forget chocolate stuffing fillers.

XiCi · 18/12/2018 15:58

I popped into Lidl for a quick look and
ended up with quite a few bits. They are doing the same cheese fondues as marks and spencer (mature cheddar and cider) except at £2.99 instead of £12. I've had both and they are the same, even down to the packaging! Lots of other lovely meat, cheeses and olives as well and the frozen party food looked lovely.

wink1970 · 18/12/2018 16:09

I've just braved M&S to pick up some party food and smoked salmon.
Don't forget:
Unusual pickles & chutneys
Rosemary crackers & similar for cheese
Nuts - especially caramelised ones
Booze you only drink at Christmas, like Baileys/Sherry/Marsala/Kirsch/port
Lots more tonic than you think you will need, ditto ice cubes

GMtoBe · 18/12/2018 16:11

Aldi do sloe gin mince tarts which are amazing!
