To ask how long for child's passport renewal to come through?

The passport website says approx 3 weeks. Has anyone renewed their child's passport recently, if so can I please ask how long it took before you received new one?! Thanks!

Anything from a week to 3 weeks in my experience. If you've not heard anything, so there's no queries their end, you should get it well within the period they state for this time of year.

Can’t remember exactly but it was super fast, nowhere near 3 weeks. Pretty sure it was back within 10 days of sending it.

Not a kids passport, but I applied for a replacement (for one that was lost) adult passport last week. Did check and send at the post office on Tuesday. Passport arrived today.,

Has someone booked a holiday without checking the validity of their family passports again?

I did it in online in July which must be pretty peak time and it was back in 10 days (including a weekend).

@ShatnersWig please don't worry! I want the passport before we book. But want to go away early next year.

I renewed DCs passports at the beginning of November using the post office check and send service. Was at Post Office on a Thursday and the new passports were delivered to home the following Wednesday.

If you have applied and are panicking, give them a call to find out progress, they are actually very helpful

I renewed DD's last month, and I got the new one within a week! If you applied online, you can check the progress via the online tracker.

On a slightly related note, how long does it take to get a baby's first passport please? And does the baby have to be present? Thanks!

Last time, my DD's renewal passport came back in 48 hours! I was amazed. I did check and send, and it was absolute off peak time (after start of new school year).

First passport took about 10 days in peak summer hols time. Maybe we've just been lucky....

I sent my DS on the Monday check & send & got the passport on the Thursday.

A month ago I got my baby's first passport in 1.5 weeks

Did DS’ in may, took 5 days.

DP sent his off at the start of December. It took 9 days even with the added complication of his previous one having been stolen.

Okay! Well looks like I maybe able to book something soon then... I've posted today after doing online application. Still had to have photos and counter sign etc.. but sent special delivery ..

@Isleepinahedgefund I couldn't do the check and send as I did the online option. Fingers crossed I did it properly ..

My dd’s first passport arrived in about 10 days back in late June.

We got one back in two weeks in Nov. The nearer to March 2019, the longer it'll take.

Mine took 5 weeks! Basically, because DD was a baby in her first passport they wanted to double check her identity with my counter signatory and he had to write a letter. They wrote to him but the letter went astray because it had been sent to a very generic work address (he is a doctor at a large hospital).
It's only when I started ringing up the passport office in a panic that this all came to light. After the problem was identified it took about a week for the passport to come - just hours before we left for the airport. That was fun!!

My child passport renewal took exactly one week - late November.

I live in the US and renewed DD's passport a couple of months ago. Posted it to the UK on the Friday and received the new passport eight days later. I was very impressed!

We have just done one, arrived Friday, took less than 2 weeks

Really quick at the moment. It took less than 1 week.
