The passport website says approx 3 weeks. Has anyone renewed their child's passport recently, if so can I please ask how long it took before you received new one?! Thanks!

Ours came within 6 days, but we applied 2 months ago, before Christmas it may take longer as there are more requests.

@QueenCity bet you were surprised!

Just do it now! They add any unused time on the old one onto the new one ...

Linnet · 17/12/2018 16:46

They don’t add the extra time on any more.

blueskiespls · 17/12/2018 16:56

I have sent it today, I think they stopped the 'extra time' thing unfortunately!

I will add that my countersignatory and I both work for Civil Service so are security/identity checked already, I imagine that helps speed thing up again - none of my coutnersignatories for me or my DD’s passports have ever been written to.

Not a renewal (haven’t gotten around to that one yet), but I applied for a first passport for my youngest a couple months ago and I literally posted it Thursday (guaranteed signed for next day) and got it back the following Tuesday, so took about 2 business days. How they even did that, I have no idea!

BikeRunSki · 17/12/2018 21:44

They stopped adding on unused time (it was only up to 9 months) about 3 months ago.
