Neighbour stole my Deliveroo order

Well, I can only imagine that’s what’s happened, since I’ve received an email from Deliveroo stating that it’s been delivered but nothing has arrived. I’ve since messaged Deliveroo, who have refunded the full amount to my account - but I’m more pissed off wondering a) where my order has gone and b) if they delivered it to the wrong address and a dishonest neighbour claimed it as their own. How hard is it to get the right door number FFS?

Fluffyears -
I didn't know Deliveroo delivered sleeping babies. Is this a new quickie adoption thing?

Also - should I start accepting takeaways that aren’t mine? Because if my neighbours do then I don’t see why I shouldn’t.

Ok, obviously I know that’s wrong. Just pissed off right now!

That would drive me up the wall, OP - I'd have to really stamp on the urge to knock on doors, but the kind of people who take someone else's takeaway are likely to be stone cold liars.

how hard is it to go pick up your own food?

Maybe it's because the OP hasn't got personal 5 star Michlen chefs on stand by 24/7 unlike you apparently Hmm

Sparklesocks hmm driver off the radar for an hour - a customer before you happened to fancy him even more than the food? Wink

I’m willing to be corrected, but I was under the impression that Deliveroo pay isn’t all that bad. I know someone who does it full time (entirely by choice because of the flexibility) and he doesn’t seem to do too badly from it.

CatAndHisKit haha maybe! Well the funny thing was the order receipt stapled to the bag was conveniently ripped where the time of order should’ve been..as if there was no way to trace how long it had been!

Clearly he was having more fun elsewhere Wink

We once took someone else’s food in Blush. I was in the bath and the doorbell went, H answers, couple of minutes later he comes up to tell me the food’s arrived because he assumed I’d ordered a surprise takeaway for us. I hadn’t.

No indication where the food was from but the receipt was from JustEat and it took an age to find out who to call to rectify the problem. We thought they’d tell us to keep the food but, in fact, the delivery bloke actually came and picked the food back up an hour after they delivered it - sincerely hope they didn’t reheat and send it to the intended customer! Needless to say, we have never ordered from that takeaway.

If someone rang my doorbell and handed me a takeaway I hadn’t ordered there is no way I’d accept it!
Surely Deliveroo have ballsed up here?

ladydickisathingapparently your post made me laugh so much (I admit I've drunk some wine though) Grin

I've had someone try to deliver Chinese takeaway to my door a couple of times now. I was fully aware I hadn't ordered it, so directed them to the right house 3 doors down. It would have been a strange and unusual mistake for me to have accepted it, when I know I hadn't ordered it.

YANBU op. Glad you were refunded - but damn, when you order food, you want to eat the bloody food! I'd be livid.

We accidentally took someone’s food not long ago. We have the prime thing with free delivery and the teenagers plus family visitor had all ordered separately so we had four deliveries in the one night and one of them was a mistake but we didn’t figure it out for an hour or so. Couldn’t tell from the chit who is was for though so there wasn’t much we could do about it.

We had this and it was the deliverer who couldn't be bothered to bring it, too far - the helpline refunded with a £10 compensation and said it was a real problem, they claim they have been knocked into by a car and need to be taken off the job, then 15 mins later they log back in for jobs, they suspect it's a ruse to avoid jobs near me (we are at the edge of the delivery area, 2.5 miles from the big restaurant area) but cannot prove it.

Lots of DD's friends ride for Deliveroo, they say pay is far better than retail or bar work for students. There's a few who use mopeds here, which I would be willing to pay and extra couple of pounds for!

Had a food delivery go next door. When it was not on my doorstep I questioned it. They sent me a photo of the delivery on the doorstep, just not my doorstep! I let them know, then knocked on the neighbors door to collect it.

I suppose that could also be what happened. I’d prefer to think it was that than one of my neighbours is a thief! They weren’t able to reach the driver to ascertain where it went unfortunately - hmm.

I went on the school run one morning and saw the house across the street had a full carrier bag sitting on the front steps. Since they were out of the country & I was looking after their mail, I went over to see what it was. Yup. Cold, wet Deliveroo bag, with a different address from that house number. I felt very sorry for whoever hadn't received their food the night before!

To be fair my rather elderly disabled Mum and sdad who has mild dementia phoned me the other week to thank me for the pizzas I had arranged to be delivered to them. Except I hadn’t!
I phoned Dominos and explained, they were going to go and collect them until I pointed out they had been delivered an hour ago and eaten. I did offer to pay but they said not to bother.
No idea if the person who actually ordered it ever got their pizza

I answered the door recently and a package was thrust into my hand , with me just about getting’Hello ? ‘ out as the delivery person was already halfway back to the gate to his moped. I saw KFC on the pack then realised that it was warm(ish !) and knew neither my DH or I had ordered a takeaway and just managed to stop him.

He refused to believe me until he looked again at his notes and grabbed it and stomped off. If I had been a bit more dozy, I would have been standing in the hallway with an unwanted food delivery and either the choice to try and find out where it had been sent from to let them know or put it in the bin. I’d like to think I would have done the former but I was in the middle of watching something gripping so......
