I've ruined his hair!

DS is two soon, and his hair has gotten very frizzy at the back. Thought a quick trim would be good, but I've completely butchered it. He doesn't care, obviously, and it is easier to brush/maintain now, but he does look ridiculous. :(

He also looks far too grown up to be allowed. What a disaster all round!

Aibu to take him to get it professionally trimmed next week or do we ride out the hatchet job till it grows out a bit and he gets old enough to bribe to keep still?!!

I've ruined his hair!

Take him to a barber to get it fixed up as much as possible and hide the clippers and scissors from yourself.

CarrieBlu · 15/12/2018 17:43

Depends. If he’ll sit reasonably well for a barber I would probably go and have it neatened up. If your DS is anything like my 2 year old DD, hell would freeze over before she would let anyone touch her hair so I would just let it grow out. If it makes you feel better I have to cut her hair whilst she’s asleep!

Twickerhun · 15/12/2018 17:43

I did similar to my son. Easily done and a barber can fix it. But yes after the first proper cut they look so grown up

Allthewaves · 15/12/2018 17:45

Barber - it will grow back

giftsonthebrain · 15/12/2018 17:45

a quick trip to the barber will fix it nicely.

Hellywelly10 · 15/12/2018 18:00

I would wait till after christmas to go to the barbers. let it grow out a bit first. Its not that bad.

PurpleFlower1983 · 15/12/2018 18:02

Definitely a barber next time.

Echobelly · 15/12/2018 18:04

Still seems to be plenty of hair there, sure a barber can fix!

ScreamingValenta · 15/12/2018 18:05

Hard to tell as he is lying down, but it doesn't look too bad to me.

Anothermothersusername · 15/12/2018 18:07

It was a good effort but I agree you need to do something about it. Don’t give yourself a hard time over it though. Quick trip to the barber will sort it out 😊

ScrambledEggForBrains · 15/12/2018 18:15

Aww he’s gorgeous.

SixButterflies · 15/12/2018 18:20

^ How can you tell? That photo is mostly ear.

Nomorechickens · 15/12/2018 18:26

He doesn't care what the back of his hair looks like. It will soon grow back. Don't stress about it.

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 15/12/2018 18:50

Thanks. I agree this is a job best left to professionals and will remind myself of that quite firmly in future.

I think we will leave it until after Christmas and get it trimmed at the barbers armed with chocolate buttons and I'll have him wear hats all the time during the interim. It could have been worse....

JellyBears · 15/12/2018 19:35

@SixButterlies little toddler ears and hands cute!!

MarthaArthur · 15/12/2018 20:05

Oh op every kid gets a terrible butchered hair cut at that age Grin in a few months you will find this hilarious. Barbers will sort it. It will grow back quickly. Grin hes cute.

Cheerbear23 · 15/12/2018 20:14

Don’t worry, I did this too Grin. I don’t know what possessed me into thinking I suddenly had hairdressing skills?
A trip to the professionals will sort it for you.

Snowwontbelong · 15/12/2018 20:18

@2 ds hid behind the curtains with dh's beard trimmer.
He def wore a hat as a number 2 shave was freezing!

BarbarianMum · 15/12/2018 20:23

Grin It was after a similarly unsuccessful session with the scissors that I first took ds1 to the hairdresser. We used jelly tots and it worked perfectly .

Cranky17 · 15/12/2018 20:39

Sorry but I did laugh, it reminds me of the time I did my ds’s, we were all crying by the end.
Who thought it could be so hard.
I promised us all never again
