DS is two soon, and his hair has gotten very frizzy at the back. Thought a quick trim would be good, but I've completely butchered it. He doesn't care, obviously, and it is easier to brush/maintain now, but he does look ridiculous. :(

He also looks far too grown up to be allowed. What a disaster all round!

Aibu to take him to get it professionally trimmed next week or do we ride out the hatchet job till it grows out a bit and he gets old enough to bribe to keep still?!!

I've ruined his hair!

It is up to you, of course. After a week or so, bad hair-cuts become much better. Please don't give up hair-dressing. It gets easier, especially as the kids get older and you get a few more practices in.

To get a kid to sit still, I give mine something to watch on a tablet. Holding the tablet while watching keeps them still and calms the atmosphere infinitely!

Best of luck, and keep practicing.

Team barber here. When my brother was young (I'd say about 5 maybe) he decided to cut his own hair. He wound up with a bald spot. It grew back.

It really doesn't look too bad. It needs blended properly to get rid of the lines but it's not beyond saving.

Frizzy hair is manageable. Was it actually frizzy or just needing a decent condition and comb through?

The difference between a good haircut and a bad one??
2 weeks!!!
It'll be fine, just let it grow out. I've had to phone my childminder today to prepare her seeing DS2's haircut I gave him today. She keeps threatening to call social services I do such a bad job!Grin I really don't want to take him to the barbers though as he won't sit still long enough - he's only 22 months. It only looks bad for a week, then it all seems to blend in! Blush
