To leave a baby?

Theres a coop 2 min walk away from my house. Would you leave the baby at home and lock the door etc instead of taking buggy/carrier etc? Shop is literally 5 doors away.

Ps: I didnt do this as I was too chicken but wondered if anyone had?

Can't say I ever remember leaving mine when they were babies but... I think, in response to some PPs, if I happen to be hit by a bus, I'd rather I wasn't carrying a baby at the time!!!🙄😅

Have you recently given birth? Are you tired or delusion? Why would you even ask this question Hmm

I occasionally leave DS in his cot or bouncy chair to go and feed the chickens in the garden or grab some wood from the shed for the fire which is probably the same distance but feels much safer IYSWIM? I’m much less likely to be waylaid in my own garden I guess?

@pernickerty1 maybe, but nothing's that urgent.

Dothehappydance · 15/12/2018 16:17

I did it. Not to the shop but I needed to take a lunch up to school for ds after another kid ate his (ASD not as simple as school giving him something) DD was asleep, she didn't sleep, had I took her she would have woken and not gone back to sleep.

I was at no more risk of harm going to the school than I was at home, no buses, and very very little risk of out of control cars. Was about 4minutes. She was fast asleep still.

Only time, but as pp said I would leave her for longer and be at the bottom of the garden (with no monitor).

Not ideal but on the balance of probabilities was the right decision.

Never. The risks are really low but the consequences too high.

@alwayschangingnamesagain See, there is no way I would leave my child in the car to go in to any shop. I feel there is more risk of either my children removing the handbrake and causing the car to roll in to a dangerous situation or someone stealing my car and the kids with it than there is of something happening while I pop out for 5 minutes while my child is fast asleep in their cot.
