Just curious as to if you got yours from DWP (PIP etc). When? And what amazing thing you bought with it? Grin
Mine came yesterday and I bought electric and gas top ups, chocolate and painkillers.

Erm Edwin you are basically saying it is up to people who are suffering a whole range of disabilies to give up a tiny little bonus for the homeless Hmm

Why don't you actually think about what you just said?

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 14/12/2018 22:38

What a delightful thread. How many posters look down their nose at “people on benefits”. Aside from just how shit that attitude is, as many pps have pointed out, people on pip often work too.

EwItsAHooman · 14/12/2018 22:38

Can I just remind people that £10 is the cost of putting a homeless person up in a hostel overnight. So whilst OP is spending her extra money on chocolate, that’s money that could have given a homeless person a bed and food for the night vs another night on the streets.

Put that into perspective all of you.

It's not a game of misery Top Trumps. Yes, it's sad homeless people are homeless but that doesn't mean disabled people and their families can't appreciate and enjoy their £10 given that they've spent the year (and years before/after) living with disabilities and all the restrictions they bring.

Did you read that something like 1.50 of the £10 was spent on chocolate by the op?

Samcro · 14/12/2018 22:41

back to the OP my dd's will go towards a ticket to the pantomime. she is so excited and will enjoy it.

Tiredmumno1 · 14/12/2018 22:42

That sounds lovely Samcro, I bet she'll have a great time Xmas Smile

Tiredmumno1 · 14/12/2018 22:42

What pantomime is it?

longwayoff · 14/12/2018 22:43

Can I remind Edwin Bear that £10 will contribute about one fifth of an MPs lunch cost. Please write to your M P edwin and ask him or her to give up one meal to house 5 homeless people for a night. Double benefit means s/he wont have to step over them sleeping at Westminster station.

Samcro · 14/12/2018 22:44

i don't know. think its Alandin. she will love it as she is going with other people in wheelchairs.

edwinbear · 14/12/2018 22:44

samco I struggle to think of anyone suffering more that the people I see sleeping rough at London Bridge every morning. No, I don’t believe people on benefits are more deserving of a bit of Christmas spirit than people who haven’t had a decent meal in months. Most people on benefits have a roof over their heads - these people are kipping down in gutters.

Tiredmumno1 · 14/12/2018 22:45

Well I hope she enjoys every second Xmas Smile

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 14/12/2018 22:46

What does this term “on benefits” mean to you Edwin? It’s vefy condescending and as if it’s something to look down on. Not quite sure why you look down on disabled people to be honest.

I think I am lost for words

Tiredmumno1 · 14/12/2018 22:48

So wrong

turnipsaretheonlyveg · 14/12/2018 22:48

My understanding is that poorer people donate a much larger % of their income than the better off so how about we don't make them feel guilty for spending what really is a tiny amount of money on themselves.

EwItsAHooman · 14/12/2018 22:48

You're presuming that none of us donates to charities? That none of us have bought an extra sandwich or a cup of soup to give to the homeless guy outside when buying our own lunch?

And while lots of people on disability benefits work, many are living on or below the poverty line.

recklessruby · 14/12/2018 22:48

edwinbear just seen your comment
I also wrote I spent £6 on electric and £2 on gas as I didn't have any.
45p for painkillers so I could go to work instead of being off ill and the rest on chocolate. Having not eaten properly for a few days I deserved something.
It's not a race to the bottom.

TwistedStitch · 14/12/2018 22:48

So edwinbear you have come on the thread to tell people who are terminally ill, disabled and carers that they don't deserve a treat- have you gone onto the style and beauty or Xmas shopping threads to tell people they shouldn't be spending their money on luxuries when there are homeless people in need or is it just those in receipt of disability benefits or carers allowance who you see fit to lecture?

Oh edwin.

I have a roof over my head. I also have no working heating. I'm bedridden, and only going out to appointments. I then have to use a wheelchair. In constant severe pain 24/7, sometimes spiking so badly I need A&E for appropriate pain relief. Oops, guess I shouldn't be using that resource either. I have cognitive, muscle, balance issues and severe weakness.

Still struggling?

God, some comments on this thread are making me lose faith in humanity.

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 14/12/2018 22:50

Well Edwinbear, I think it’s disgusting that you don’t pay tax on the first 11k of your income when there are people living on the streets.

My boy got his for DLA... he got some new waterproof gloves... we have £2 left of the lovely £10 Christmas bonus 🤣🤣

EwItsAHooman · 14/12/2018 22:51

And I think it's disgusting you're spending money on an internet connection when that money could house a homeless family.

Do tell, Edwin, how much did you donate to homeless charities last month? Financially, physically, and emotionally in exact detail please.
