To think womens sport is screwed?

This year we have already had the WOMENS world champion track cyclist Rachel McKinnon here

Now we have Hannah Mouncey playing in the world WOMENS championship handball here

Sportswomen must feel so silenced and powerless Sad

The powers that be have decided these males who identify as women can fairly compete in womens sport and to protest at against males will result in action against you with the risk you will be banned from your sport...

If you see this as a fair and level playing field on a biological level ( by that I dont mean saying TWAW and expecting me to accept that as an answer) then can you explain why?

I am very sad tbh that we are losing something we fought so hard for.

I'd love for anyone to look at the picture and convince me it's ok. Feel like a minority and broken record talking about this

Dowdydoes · 09/12/2018 21:40

Yeah and this is where the whole biology becomes most apparent. That punch sickens me, it’s male violence legistimsed. Mediocre weightlifters, runners, cyclists and the rest gaining their women’s records, funding or medals. I don’t know how they have the balls ... oh wait

LemonJello · 09/12/2018 21:41

Let’s have some more pictures.

To think womens sport is screwed?
CosmicCanary · 09/12/2018 21:41

The women who came 3rd in the cycling did voice her opinion.
She was bullied and threatened in to retracting her opinion Angry

Truth is I honestly dont think people care enough about womens sport that if we "downed tools" it would make a difference.

YANBU.

It'll be time to stop posting about it when it isn't happening any more, thanks Ragged.

HestiaParthenos · 09/12/2018 21:44

Oh goody, another trans-obsessed thread. Pause was nice while it lasted.

Complain to the people who thought it was a good idea to let males compete in women's sports.

We'll all shut up about it forever once it stops.

So, go do something productive, write some letters to people who are responsible for this idiocy.

LemonJello · 09/12/2018 21:44

And another

To think womens sport is screwed?
Aeroflotgirl · 09/12/2018 21:48

I see each thread like those, as another example of women being shat at from a great height by men.

starcrossedseahorse · 09/12/2018 21:52

Yep. Same old.

incallthebloodytime · 09/12/2018 21:54

I'm angry about people trying to take the lead with martial arts as an example of why we should get rid of segregation. I get what Ronda is saying here...

But martial arts do not compare with other sports! People assume it's a sport so it can and it looks rough therefore if martial arts can do this...

MMA is people who are well trained in disciplines- that come from a culture of respect not a culture of aggression

What you might do in martial arts... you can't do in cycling! You can't use your opponents strength or size against them!

And all the various disciplines- are segregated UNLESS there is nobody in that catagory until you are good enough to be like Ronda and say I want to fight mixed!

Martial arts are very pro women... but other sports simply aren't!

HestiaParthenos · 09/12/2018 22:01

Martial arts are very pro women... but other sports simply aren't!

Perhaps we need to collectively boycott (as in, not watch it, not talk about it, show no interest in, pay no money to view) any sport where men have an advantage over women.

And only be interested in martial arts, figure skating and synchronised swimming from now onwards.
Horse racing, perhaps, too.

IdaDown · 09/12/2018 22:04

I’ve said it before - it’s only going to change when a (trans)woman competes in a major televised / high prize money event. Something like Wimbledon, Marathon, Olympic event.

In fact I’d love a (trans)man or GC man to do this in a major event soon to highlight what’s going on around the world. Slowly but surely our frog is boiling.

This should not become normalised.

incallthebloodytime · 09/12/2018 22:05

Trouble is @HestiaParthenos some women would have their careers ended if we did, unfairly

WhoTFIsAlanBrazil · 09/12/2018 22:08

As a competitor in a strength sport, I have thought about this a lot recently.

Transgender women do have an advantage, even after hormone therapy or surgery, as it is extremely difficult to reverse-engineer the effects of male puberty on muscle mass, bone density and type of muscle fibre.

On the other hand, it is unfair that not everyone would get to compete should they want to.

In my opinion the only way to make it fair is to have a separate transgender category. This has been discussed as a possibility by various federations but none have made a decision about it yet

incallthebloodytime · 09/12/2018 22:09

I thought it was hilarious when on women's hour the other day that woman wanted us to believe there might be some high ranking sports women who are trans and we simply don't know... surely the tests would reveal it straight away in the big games??

LemonJello · 09/12/2018 22:10

It would be amazing at the next Olympics, for women to keep our own medal table that simply removes any men competing. Erases them, if you will.
And get our own medals made to award to the actual winners, rather than the cheats.

incallthebloodytime · 09/12/2018 22:12

Oh I like that idea lemon but the women would lose sponsorship I bet if they agreed

Look how fast the cyclist runner up had to apologise

The sponsors control the sports really... it's them who need to be challenged

Baking101 · 09/12/2018 22:14

Why don't they have a transgender league, like they do for men and women? Would make the most sense. Split them up from the others. They are still biologically men, so they either have a separate league or get used to losing against men.

incallthebloodytime · 09/12/2018 22:18

Why don't they have a transgender league, like they do for men and women? Would make the most sense

Because validation is more important to them than fairness

At everyone else's expense

GunpowderGelatine · 09/12/2018 22:19

They don't want their own category - they want to be holidayed by pushing their way into women's sports.

Where are all the trans men fighting to be footballers and basketball players in men's leagues??

Augusta2012 · 09/12/2018 22:22

Hannah Mouncey wrote an absolutely LOL article in the Guardian, claiming the weight qualification the AFL wanted her to meet was unfair because it body shamed women and told overweight girls they shouldn’t play.

I mean, honestly, sport already discriminated against the overweight because they are usually not as physically capable. I don’t think allowing trans women to compete in women’s sports is going to make overweight teenagers feel like they’re suddenly welcome in sport.

Womantheonlykind · 09/12/2018 22:35

keep our own medal table that simply removes any men competing

This is absolutely what needs done.

HestiaParthenos · 09/12/2018 22:43

Trouble is some women would have their careers ended if we did, unfairly

True. We wait until there's no women left in the sport before boycotting it? I don't think it'll take long. Especially with sports where women are at an extreme disadvantage, I think most women will give up competing once males get gold, silver and bronze, and not think it worth competing for fourth and fifth place.
