After all the information and the publicity about global warning but bbc tv says tonight that no freebie rocher pacaging can be recycled and if you look at their web site you can see their extensive palm oil plantations which are destroying native forests killing rate species and reducing uptake of co2. What planet are they o their pricucts in my opinion a mate vial and so are their corporate ethics. For our children’s and my grandchildren’s sake AVOID them. Horriblhorrible uncaring explotative bast**ds

Well, unlike the people attending the ambassador's party, I've never liked them anyway.

kayakingmum · 07/12/2018 19:41

I try to avoid palm oil. It's hard though. You've got to check the packaging for almost everything!

Janedoughnut · 07/12/2018 19:45

Eh?

malificent7 · 07/12/2018 19:49

Yanbu...they taste amazing though...damn it.bwill have to find a substitute.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 07/12/2018 19:50

Eh, not going to stop me eating them, they're yummy.

slashlover · 07/12/2018 20:02

Are you saying that Ferrero Rocher packaging can't be recycled and they use palm oil?

A large number of products use palm oil, you need to check the packaging for everything.

ollhe · 07/12/2018 20:14

Actually Ferraro are using sustainable palm oil. palmoilscorecard.panda.org/check-the-scores/manufacturers/ferrero

Palm oil use, if done well, is the best way of harvesting vegetable fats as palm crop grows so quickly.
It’s much better to use a sustainable palm oil, compared to a non-sustainable alternative.

However I agree about the packaging. And I actually don’t like ferrero rocher at all!

SoupDragon · 07/12/2018 20:14

Last year Aldi did their own version of Ferrero Rocher.

GunpowderGelatine · 07/12/2018 20:17

Bloody tasty though

MrsJayy · 07/12/2018 20:19

They are an approved sustainable palm oil certified not eating palm oil is unavoidable sometimes it is in everything and I don't know why the packaging can't be recycled they take all the wrapping /packaging n my area

Ohyesiam · 07/12/2018 20:20

You are not wrong op.
Which is no hardship as they are just balls of cat litter in cooking chocolate.

TeaAddict235 · 07/12/2018 20:23

So what can I eat now?

Poolbank · 07/12/2018 20:24

One of my major issues is that they are promoting themselves as green when they clearly are not. One lie damages their reputation. Yes I don’t like the product but I dislike their duplicity more. palm oil suppirters say that they grow trees so they are green but it is more complicated than that. Loss of rare species loss of deep forest the cost of burning the land and releasing co2 before they start to plant new trees etc etc. It is too easy To mesmerise people especially when they sell sugary products which we all like. I accept it isn’t easy but don’t fall foul of green wash. And I am not an environist all I want is a sustainable planet for my granddaughter

OP posts:
RedDwarves · 07/12/2018 20:25

Actually Ferraro are using sustainable palm oil.

No such thing.

Cadbury claims the same.

waxy1 · 07/12/2018 20:26

You are spoiling us!

Poolbank · 07/12/2018 20:26

Who are red dwarves. Are they ready ferreo richer or thier pr company paid to put out messages

OP posts:
CoughLaughFart · 07/12/2018 20:29

Try M&S Operetta.

AfterSchoolWorry · 07/12/2018 20:30

I don't eat them anyway because they're revolting.

EmeraldShamrock · 07/12/2018 20:30

I do not particularly like them, though I can say I definitely will not buying them in the future unless they buck up on standards.

Poolbank · 07/12/2018 20:50

Thanks guys. At least I have started people thinking. We need to pressureize manufacturers to speed up research to get recyleble packaging. It should not be hard to swap.
From our point of view money talks. All I want is a sustainable planet for everyone to live on. If we fuck this up we are screwed sorry about rude words but I have two wonderful grandchildren what else do I need to say

OP posts:
kayakingmum · 07/12/2018 20:55

M&S operetta look tasty, by contain palm
Oil as well :(

Poolbank · 07/12/2018 21:30

The most important thing is to achieve a balance so that the planet can continue to support us all. If we screw it up then we are all fuc** d

I don’t enjoy ferreo rocher but then I heard their packaging is non sustainable AND they are claiming green credentials. I think that is awful but it’s isnt just them claiming green wash others do . We may have to change our choices BUT we do need honesty. These big companies rely on us rto buy their products is it unreasonable for us to ask that they do their best to minimisetheir impact and to tell us the truth h.
time is running out
I am not an environmentalist just a grannie and a humanbeing.

OP posts:
Birdsgottafly · 07/12/2018 21:35

ollhe, e ery report and investigation done about sustainable palm oil show that Wild life, especially Orangatans, are equally killed in the cultivation of both.

There's lies and backhanders around certification etc.

Poolbank · 07/12/2018 21:36

It is interesting that when I posted my first test post about ferreo rocher unstable and dishonest ecological platform that there was a response in less than one second

Thisv this tells that mums net is an important influecencer site hooray but also that the site is being monitored by companies who send corporate messages to stop free speech

Bad.
