‏Local authorities making emergency plans for March 29th onwards 2019 for Crash Out Brexit (Leaving without a deal)

@faisalislam
NEW: Extraordinary Kent County Council No Deal Brexit document detailing “Operation Fennel” next month to hold 10,000 HGVs “on a routine basis”

-administration GCSEs/SATS

  • waste services “delayed and disrupted”
  • “difficulties with transport of the deceased”

Looks like there's a serious possibility of 1000s of our kids having wasted years of education as GCSE and A level exams could be cancelled.

Yes, I was eligible to vote in the referendum. I lived (and voted) in the UK between 2003 and 2005.

The Knight bus would be great

Certainly, heritage railways are making a comeback. It appears that Rother Valley Railway were granted planning permission last year for the reinstatement of the railway line from Robertsbridge to Bodiam - which would mean that passengers could travel from London Charing Cross to Tenterden (although not during the rush hour). Lots of objections of course and they need TWAO approval from transport secretary Chris Grayling.

"The plan’s supporters say that completing the scenic route from Tenterten to Robertsbridge would lead to an influx of thousands more visitors to the area, with the line estimated to carry 50,000 passengers a year. According to an independent economic assessment, it would generate £4.1m for the local economy and create around 70 badly needed jobs in the area"

In which case, are you an anarchist/member of momentum - or was your deleted post a momentary lapse? Yes I did see it.

Clavinova · 12/12/2018 12:07

The Rother Valley Railway extension would be too late for Brexit of course - before anyone points that out.

Now I see! You are getting some stick for your comment - so you should. Why do you want civil unrest here when you haven't even lived in the UK for 10 years?

user1499173618 · 12/12/2018 13:08

I spend a lot of time in the UK, Clavinova, and our DC live there.

BobLemon · 12/12/2018 13:16

I heard there’s going to be major disruption to Biscuit production!!

user1499173618 · 12/12/2018 18:11

Maybe Brexit is a cunning plan to solve the obesity crisis

bellinisurge · 12/12/2018 18:15

You clearly know nothing about food shortages @user1499173618 . Guessing that, unlike me, you've never lived with them.

Dadbod72 · 13/12/2018 12:01

"move on nothing to see here just another desperate reMOANer. It's like the millennium bug believers all over again."

The difference between Brexit and Y2K is that many years before Y2K (an inevitability), IT professionals all over the world, in both public and private sectors were analysing and modifying code, sharing knowledge and expertise to beat the deadline.

With Brexit, nobody has completed a thorough impact analysis.

bellinisurge · 13/12/2018 12:28

I think we get bonus bingo points if some numpty says Y2K.
Brexit bingo is about tbe only thing to be cheerful about.

bellinisurge · 13/12/2018 12:29

Just to be clear you aren't the numpty @Dadbod72 Blush

Venison · 13/12/2018 12:34

Op wishes. God preppers are dull.

Dadbod72 · 13/12/2018 12:35

Wink ta

bellinisurge · 13/12/2018 13:09

Hi @Venison , dull prepper here. I would love to be a niche little nerd with my little hobby that is of no interest or use to anybody.
If anyone wants some practical, budget friendly non panicky suggestions about building some resilience into their food stocks at home, there is a whole Prepper topic with general and Brexit specific threads. You don't have to BE A PREPPER.

JacquesHammer · 13/12/2018 14:02

Op wishes. God preppers are dull

And yet your life is so full, you’re reading threads you’re not interested in for the sole purpose of telling people they’re dull?

Quite the riot

yolofish · 13/12/2018 14:27

venison I bet you're a laugh a minute too eh?

What I really dont understand, given that this thread is about KENT, why so many people are so quick to ignore what those of us who live in the county and/or know it have to say about the potential for major issues?

It would be like me saying that everyone in Hull (never been) knows nothing about their local infrastucture, and that I, as a rural-dweller for many years, could run their city much better.

yolofish · 19/12/2018 18:30

Looking forward to the troops on the streets come March 29... still not sure how they will get through the gridlock on the M20 though - helicopters? we do have a fantastic heli-ambulance service here, maybe they will be pressed into action too - no worries if you have a heart attack/serious RTA out on Romney Marsh though, the helis will be busy with the lorries.

MissSusanScreams · 19/12/2018 18:37

I remember on the eve of the referendum talking to a delirious Leave supporter who kept crowing about getting their country back and how they were going to be better off. They accused me of being doom monger for pointing out the practicalities of Brexit and then insinuated I wasn’t British so therefore my opinion wasn’t relevant ( I am and it is).

I often wonder if they are still so excited about the Brexit that would be easy to negotiate and would take back their country. I wonder if they got their country back.
