To let young children eat fruitcake?

I have made a proper fruitcake this year. I’ve been feeding it Brandy for 6 weeks. I just broke down and tasted a tiny sliver and it was amazing.

So when Christmas comes do I
A) hoard this booze soaked cake for the grownups
B) let the kids ages 6-12 have a piece despite the alcohol
C) pretend I didn’t make fruitcake at all and just sneak a piece out of its hiding place when no one is looking so I can eat it all myself

I would give the children a tiny little bit first to see if they like it and they can then have a bit bigger slice. Seems un-Christmassy to not share.

Do have the biggest pieces for yourself though.

Let them have it if they want.

My 5 year old devours fruit cake. And I’m sure the baby would too if o let him.

My daughter (nearly 5) adores fruit cake. No way I could avoid giving her some.

No child likes fruit cake so I’d keep it for myself!

My mum used to make the proper plum puddings - the ones that hang for months in calico and get doused in brandy. Even as kids we loved those.

I love rum balls but don't make them myself. One friend puts sultanas in hers and I convinced her to soak the tanas in lots of rum for a bit - best rum balls ever!
