London! Inspired by another thread. Come and champion your side of the river Thames! Aibu to ask - which do you prefer - North or South London Smile

NW London for many years now, prior to that North, never lived South of the river!

JessieMcJessie · 05/12/2018 00:07

North! But only as long as it’s inside the North Circular Grin. You can’t beat Hampstead Heath and it just seems to take forever to get anywhere in South London. Plus that thin central tube platform at Clapham Central in rush hour is the scariest place in the UK.

6079SmithW · 05/12/2018 00:09

North!
South of the river always strikes me as being completely up it's own arse Smile

BeachtheButler · 05/12/2018 01:16

South obviously! Nothing worth seeing/having north of the river.

BurpAndRustle · 05/12/2018 01:17

Love North London.

Was quite partial to a Saf London Boy in my youth though.

BeachtheButler · 05/12/2018 01:17

Funky "Not honest enough to come from the North; not polite enough to come from the South - must be a Midlander."

RiverTam · 05/12/2018 07:07

South

For a number com reasons but one of the big ones is the connection to the river - if, like many of use, you work in the centre, you get to cross the river every day. North Londoners can go weeks without seeing the river.

I was born SW, grew up NW, lived for a bit SW and have been settled in SE for 15 years.

brizzledrizzle · 05/12/2018 07:09

North if I had to live in London but I'd really rather not. I much prefer my little corner of the south west.

EssentialHummus · 05/12/2018 07:12

South! The huge and mainly empty parks on hot summer weekends, when on Hampstead Heath you’d be fighting for 10 inches to yourself.

Alfie190 · 05/12/2018 07:13

When I lived in London, it was SW19. Loved it.

Ifailed · 05/12/2018 07:16

on Hampstead Heath you’d be fighting for 10 inches to yourself there's a joke in there somewhere.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 05/12/2018 07:18

South all the way!!!

Rattinghat · 05/12/2018 07:35

Agree that West is vile. Motorways on legs, the worst have/havenot divide in London, and thousands of planes landing over your head every day.

Chloe84 · 05/12/2018 07:50

South West for me. Nice to visit other parts but it all feels alien after a while, always happy to get home.

(You get used to the planes and someone's usually happy to drop you to Heathrow).

NotFeelingGood · 05/12/2018 08:08

@chloe84 which area do you live if you don't mind me asking?

WWlOOlWW · 05/12/2018 08:09

North !!
Born in Kentish town, raised further up in North London. Still a Londoner.

Lived in a few areas across North London. Also allergic to West London. East is okay for a visit. Quite like some areas of South particularly SW.

North will be forever in my heart!

bsc · 05/12/2018 08:11

North, no contest!

OliviaStabler · 05/12/2018 08:13

North. All the way. I've lived in both Grin

ClaudiaWankleman · 05/12/2018 08:16

North east. Better if the locals still call it Essex.
Wanstead, Woodford, Snaresbrook etc. There is nowhere better.

Chloe84 · 05/12/2018 08:17

@NotFeelingGood not at all, Isleworth :)

NataliaOsipova · 05/12/2018 08:18

on Hampstead Heath you’d be fighting for 10 inches to yourself there's a joke in there somewhere.

😂😂😂

North London all the way here too....!

Sallygoroundthemoon · 05/12/2018 08:20

North. South is a forrin country innit?

Storm4star · 05/12/2018 08:20

Definitely North, couldn’t live anywhere else in London.
All the best stuff is on our side of the river Grin Although my DDs partner lives in the South and she spends a lot of time there and really likes it.
Agree re West. I only go through there when travelling to Heathrow!

Trills · 05/12/2018 08:21

Plus that thin central tube platform at Clapham Central in rush hour is the scariest place in the UK.

Clapham does have a lot of tube stations but Central is not one of them. :o

I know which you mean - the trick is not to live in Clapham, then you won't ever be on that platform at rush hour.
