To wonder if black shoes and tights would go ok with this dress?

Christmas party is looming this weekend, as always I am really prepared not

Would this dress look ok?

My problem is I don't do very well in heels. I am very tall anyway and being a tomboy, I never wear heels. I woud wobble if I did.

My other problem is I have big bunions on each foot which I do NOT want to display at all. So I am kind of limited in the shoe I can wear. I am aware that a silver shoe would probably go best with this dress but then that would mean I couldn't wear black tights (I hate my legs and they are white as a ghost).

Someone help me! I mean, if you want to find me a dress too that would be great lol.

I don't like showing my upper arms either. bah I am so fucking stressed.

I could wear trousers I guess.

I need a personal shopper :( and don't even get me started with make up.

I could fake tan my legs, that is an option. But I am still at a loss with the shoes

I think it would look fine with black tights and either back shoes or ankle boots. Add some silver jewellery and you’re good to go!

thebear1 · 03/12/2018 16:14

I would wear that with black tights and flats.

LifesABeachCoaster · 03/12/2018 16:15

I have very skinny ankles the list grow so I am quite fussy there as they can look ridiculous on me. I will have a look though.

thanks!

Hi OP

Have you tried the fleshy coloured tights? (I can’t remember the name of them!) you could tan your legs and pop them on too as they give you that ‘glossy look’ and you could wear any particular colour shoe. For example red, navy or even white if you were wanting to avoid full black.

However I don’t think the dress wouldn’t match the black tights and black shoes, what type of shoes are you thinking if your not bothered about heels? New look do smaller block heels what are a lot easier to walk in if you wanted to try them?

If you do decide to do all black - id definately throw in some colour like red clutch bag and lipstick\nails to match it up.

Anyat212 · 03/12/2018 16:17

Ah just seen the silver on the dress! 😂 id use a silver clutch and necklace etc

LifesABeachCoaster · 03/12/2018 16:20

I just can not find any suitable shoes :(

I'd wear ankle boots with that dress, I think they'd look fab.

IHaveBrilloHair · 03/12/2018 16:25

Black fishnets and ankle boots.

SaucyJack · 03/12/2018 16:29

You could wear it with black tights and flat boots- but it will look very matronly and fussy with the high neckline and the sleeves.

LifesABeachCoaster · 03/12/2018 16:30

Yeah? Can you post some links to the kind of ankle boots? I dont have a great budget so the likes of DP, New Look that kind of thing!

Or a photo of an example boot?

I would wear nude tights with that dress. I know MN doesn't like nude tights, but white, goosebumpy legs are not an attractive look. I agree that black opaques might make it look a bit tunic and leggings mumsy look.

LifesABeachCoaster · 03/12/2018 16:35

Why doesn't MN like nude tights lol

Black tight and shoes would be lovely with that dress.

LoniceraJaponica · 03/12/2018 16:38

I don't know. On S & B the consensus seems to be that they are old fashioned and frumpy. I think they are perfectly OK, especially if you want the bare leg look in December.

These are off Asos

What about a low denier black tight though?

You could go for fancy black tights, eg lacy styles.

The tights/boots combo here would work really well, I think.

I wore a similar dress recently OP
I went for opaques and some suede black court heels but they are from Clarks and very comfy. I'm 5ft10 and don't usually wear heels either but some outfits need it! I was close to wearing boots too which would have worked (see pic) as would the fishnets!

LifesABeachCoaster · 03/12/2018 16:44

@kenandbarbie I couldn't manage those heels!
