To wonder if black shoes and tights would go ok with this dress?

Christmas party is looming this weekend, as always I am really prepared not

Would this dress look ok?

My problem is I don't do very well in heels. I am very tall anyway and being a tomboy, I never wear heels. I woud wobble if I did.

My other problem is I have big bunions on each foot which I do NOT want to display at all. So I am kind of limited in the shoe I can wear. I am aware that a silver shoe would probably go best with this dress but then that would mean I couldn't wear black tights (I hate my legs and they are white as a ghost).

Someone help me! I mean, if you want to find me a dress too that would be great lol.

I don't like showing my upper arms either. bah I am so fucking stressed.

I could wear trousers I guess.

I need a personal shopper :( and don't even get me started with make up.

Why would black tights look mumsy? I don't get that at all. I like a coloured tight myself and think some dark plum coloured ones would look lovely with that dress, then silver shoes would be an option. But there would also be nothing wrong with black tights and shoes. Can you cope with kitten heel?

Nottobesoldseparately · 03/12/2018 16:53

Where is the party?

I've just had mine. And wore flat mid calf boots with my dress. Which I paired with sparkly leggings.

I normally wear heels, but I've had a bad knee and didn't trust myself.

It was a bit of a biker look I had going on but it really worked in the end. I was comfy, didn't have to worry about falling down stairs whilst drunk (a speciality of mine) and got loads of compliments!

I don't like the ankle boots. I dont even know why but I just can't see myself in them. I think I need to try some stuff on.

I ordered the dress, just hope it comes before saturday lol

I did also order this top which has come today and I will try on tonight. Was thinking of wearing black skinny jeans with it. What do you think?

I’d wear tights with a bit of interest, as the dress is so simple and high necked. Not fishnets, by something witha bit of netty effect.
I also can’t wear heels, but find boots are more forgiving and I can happily wear a couple of inche heel in a boot.

LifesABeachCoaster · 03/12/2018 16:57

Last year a colleague I don't particularly get on with made a comment about me always wearing flats :( and another said today that they dont see the point in kitten heels and they hate them.

My colleagues are quite bitchy and I just dont wanna be paranoid!

Ooh OP please could you tell me where that top is from?

SaucyJack · 03/12/2018 17:01

“Why would black tights look mumsy?”

Because it’s a frock that’s designed to show the legs off in. The rest of it is actually quite shapeless and high coverage- despite the pretty fabric. Adding a pair of opaques pushes it over the line from party dress to something you’d wear to a social at the local church hall.

LifesABeachCoaster · 03/12/2018 17:02

@Lostfrequencies It's from Very! I take it you like it! That is an option and I would be way comfier in that and jeans

What about a 15 denier, would that look better?

I like that top as well.

SaucyJack · 03/12/2018 17:06

Those sheer tights would look great I reckon. Plain ankle boots with whatever heel you like- they all seem to be in fashion at the mo.

EyeRolls · 03/12/2018 17:07

Some wedge knee length boots & black tights, OP. Ignore bitchy comments and go for comfort!

Charley50 · 03/12/2018 17:12

Stop caring what your colleagues think about flats. They are a million times more comfortable for dancing in than heels. It's much more cool / sexy / fashionable to be comfortable than to wear heels when heels aren't your thing.
I would wear flat ankle boots and style my outfit around that.

TwiceMagic · 03/12/2018 17:12

I don’t think black opaque tights and flats would look frumpy at all.

Personally I’d wear it with brightly coloured tights and flat shoes, but I’m totally happy to go with more quirky than average.

KringleBells · 03/12/2018 17:21

ASOS do flat black stretchy boots for tall people pretty cheaply. They’d look great with that dress.

Also maybe black opaqueish tights with silver sparkles. Sparkles will pick up the trim on the dress.

Or get tights in denier/pattern you like and also a can of Superdrug hairspray with glitter. Spray over legs once you’ve put tights on. It stays put for an evening then washes out.

Ignore your colleagues. People like that’d bitch about Jesus.

LifesABeachCoaster · 03/12/2018 17:29

Lets see what this top looks like when I get in tonight, if its awful then I will chance the dress!

Thank you for all the advice so far.

Hi, I would wear silver / grey ankle boots or a silver leapord print. Maybe accessorize with a long scarf or necklace...

NewFreshStarts · 03/12/2018 18:35

Why not some black sparkly tights and then black kitten heels? For make up a smokey eye but silver on the lower lash line and the inner corner of the top lid? A nude lipstick as well? (I always suggest matte if you've got a lot going on in your outfit).
A black handbag with sparkly details could mean you're sorted that way.
Of course if you hate sparkly/silver outfits just totally ignore this 😂😂

Notahelen · 03/12/2018 18:37

Hi LifesABeachCoaster
Love the dress, I wore something not very different, more purple in colour, with silver flat brogues from Clarks and grey sparkly tights that came from M&S. I don't do heels or legs either.
Have fun!

NewFreshStarts · 03/12/2018 18:40

Found these.
I'd do a little less silver in the eye if you're not going out out but it could work if you're confident enough and think your coworkers wouldn't be too judgemental?

LakieLady · 03/12/2018 18:45

I love those sparkly tights! Would they work with a silver ballet flat?

NewFreshStarts · 03/12/2018 18:51

@LakieLady maybe pumps like these? Definitely more dressy ones rather than the average every day ones

NewFreshStarts · 03/12/2018 18:58

Sorry just saw you said silver pumps! I wouldn't go all over silver as that could be a bit much. goo.gl/images/fcqCGz how about these? @LakieLady

RebelWitchFace · 03/12/2018 20:51

What about these?
