To buy my team Aldi prosecco as a Christmas gift?

I really like it, but do you think they'll think me a cheapskate?
It's not really the cost, I personally find it very nice to drink.
Or am I better to buy it from Morrions or get lager instead? I only have blokes in my team fyi.

Nothing wrong with Aldi Prosecco. As long as they like Prosecco.

hottestsausage · 01/12/2018 20:51

Aldi prosecco is lovely. My DP is a prosecco monster connoisseur so he'd be really happy.

Could you ask them what they like to drink at home and buy what they like?

ThePinkOcelot · 01/12/2018 20:51

If they actually like prosseco then Aldi prosseco would be fine. Personally I wouldn’t have thought many men would like it.

Bestseller · 01/12/2018 20:54

If I was buying Prosseco id be happy to give Aldi but id dont think I'd give it to a team of men unless I knew that was what they liked

Girlsnightin · 01/12/2018 20:56

Ahhh ok. Maybe not prosecco as the gift and something else instead. I've an idea if they are beer or lager so will do that instead. Thanks all.

I think if they’re stereotypically blokey blokes, then any brand of Prosecco might be seen as something they’d take home and give to “the missus”.

What about craft beer? Something like Brewdog Punk is popular, and a slightly more expensive treat lager.

Hellywelly10 · 01/12/2018 21:02

You wont get a drink theyll all like. Have you been out with them, what did they order at the bar? Its a nice thought op.

londonrach · 01/12/2018 21:03

Asda does offer on craft beer. I did it every year as gifts

WinterfellWench · 01/12/2018 21:05

YABU. Prosecco is vile. And for women who wear pink sweaters, and giggle a lot, and watch TOWIE.

Get some beers for them!

CoperCabana · 01/12/2018 21:06

Most people would find a bottle of Prosecco handy at Christmas, either as something that gets drank with friends/family over the season or that gets regifted. I wouldn’t overthink it. Most people appreciate a gift of any sort. I have had many very well paid bosses that give nothing to their teams at Christmas and that does not go down well with me.

CoperCabana · 01/12/2018 21:06

Drank should be drunk I think?

Snooky1 · 01/12/2018 21:07

Everywhere I have worked have always brought me a tub of chocolates to share with family. That's always gone down well.

Jamhandprints · 01/12/2018 21:08

Generally in the UK white wine, especially bubbly is seen as a woman's drink. It's silly but beer or maybe a red wine would be more 'manly'.

Minniemountain · 01/12/2018 21:09

I've still got the prosecco my bosses gave me for Christmas last year. I'm a woman but DH doesn't like it either.

Maybe cava if you're not sure what else? I find a wider range of people will drink that.

Eliza9917 · 01/12/2018 21:14

Prosecco is disgusting. Give them lager.

Ilovelblue · 01/12/2018 21:24

If I were to be buying for a team of men, I honestly wouldn't go for prosecco. Can't you just take them all out for a lunchtime or after work drink/few drinks instead? Then they can have what they want. Otherwise, I too would go for beer or lager.

Iloveautumnleaves · 01/12/2018 21:34

And for women who wear pink sweaters, and giggle a lot, and watch TOWIE

What an idiotic thing to say.

OP I’d definitely go for craft beer, there are some decent gift packs at a reasonable price.

delboysskinandblister · 01/12/2018 21:42

exactly for all we know these men may wear pink sweaters, giggle a lot, and watch TOWIE Wine intheabsenceofproseccoandcraftbeeremoji

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 01/12/2018 21:50

If all blokes, why not getting them all some local craft lager or something? Aldi prosecco might be nice but they might think it was purchased just because it was cheap.

Rudgie47 · 01/12/2018 21:51

If its men, get them craft beers and some underpants instead.

tillytoodles1 · 01/12/2018 21:52

My daughter had Aldi prosecco at her wedding. We did a blind test taste so it wasn't the cost that made us choose it.

delboysskinandblister · 01/12/2018 21:53

and an umbrella.

no YADNBU. A gift is a gift.

EdisonLightBulb · 01/12/2018 21:54

I'd get them a Tesco gift voucher so they could buy their own or a card with a strip of scratch cards or a fiver on the lottery or whatever.

I don't think you can pick alcohol for a group of people, their tastes are probably too diverse.

nauticant · 01/12/2018 21:56

YWBU to go to Aldi and get them Prosecco when you could get them this instead:

Scrumptiousbears · 01/12/2018 21:58

One year my boss asked everyone into his office one by one to thank them for the work over the year and general Christmas pleasantries then asked us to choose a tipple of our choice, red, white, rose or Prosecco. It's was a nice touch and went down well. I assume he had to overbuy so was left with some to take home for his own wine rack.
