To buy my team Aldi prosecco as a Christmas gift?

I really like it, but do you think they'll think me a cheapskate?
It's not really the cost, I personally find it very nice to drink.
Or am I better to buy it from Morrions or get lager instead? I only have blokes in my team fyi.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Prosecco is vile (although I'd force it down if that's all there was!).

user8905 · 01/12/2018 22:03

Why not buy a mixture of regular lager like kronenberg, some craft beer (brewdog is the most well known supermarket brand but pretty boring) and some Prosecco? How much do you want to spend on them?

KeepCalm · 01/12/2018 22:03

I did it last year with a wee personalised gift tag for them All and a cinema voucher for those too young/don't drink.

I've just ordered a delivery from Tesco as they have bottles reduced from £11 to £8 which seemed like a bargain....

KeepCalm · 01/12/2018 22:04

My team are mainly females with only 2 males on the staff though Grin

WinterfellWench · 01/12/2018 22:08

@Davros

No you're not the only one who thinks prosecco is vile. And it's definitely a certain type of female who drinks it - like I said earlier in the thread. 🤣🤣🤣

InProgress · 01/12/2018 22:09

Are you sure all of them drink?

useyourimagination · 01/12/2018 22:16

I would be dead chuffed with Aldi prosecco, as would DH.

Girlsnightin · 01/12/2018 22:23

Quite sure they all drink (well they do when I'm buying a round!).

I've thought back to what they've drunk on nights out and going to get that as a gift instead. I'm thinking a tenner each.

As a prosecco drinker myself, what kind of 'certain type of female' does that actually make me????!!!!!!?????

GreenMeerkat · 01/12/2018 22:40

@WinterfellWench slight stereotyping there.

Prosecco, well most fizzy wine actually, is one of the few alcoholic drinks I like (that and gin - how typical).

I have tattoos, piercings and listen to metal music. And I have never seen a single episode of TOWIE.

I just happen to like Prosecco. I think beer is vile.

Davros · 01/12/2018 22:55

Gin is a big thing now and always useful. Do Aldi do that? OR get the Prosecco plus something like Cassis or Kahlua

homeishere · 01/12/2018 23:08

Aldi do some lovely red wines and their white (cambala - not sure of spelling) is an excellent dry white.

greendale17 · 01/12/2018 23:13

Does it have to be alcohol? I get so bored of getting alcohol related presenta

HildaZelda · 01/12/2018 23:45

YANBU at all, however make sure it's the silver label prosecco not the yellow label one. The silver one is lovely. The yellow one is sugar water.

greenlanes · 02/12/2018 00:01

I love Prosecco and dont fit those daft stereotypes being touted up thread. Although in just one respect I do - I am an adult female woman. It is a lovely thought - and I am sure that most colleagues would be grateful for acknowledgement - but alcohol is a very personal choice. perhaps another for work colleagues?

Lovingbenidorm · 02/12/2018 00:14

Prosecco is undrinkable regardless where it’s from. Plus blokes do not drink prosecco...........ever

KeepCalm · 02/12/2018 08:28

@Lovingbenidorm beg to differ going by all the parties and christmasses here.

WingMirrorSpider · 02/12/2018 09:25

My dh is a beardy 50 year old rugby type and likes Prosecco. He’s half Italian and has drunk it for 30 odd years. He loves an Aperol spritz too and has done for decades before it became popular here. I guess he didn’t get the memo that he’s not allowed to drink it Confused

KeepCalm · 02/12/2018 09:28

@WingMirrorSpider I'll join you with an Irish rugby playing riot cop polis DH & his mates that join us religiously and swill it down like mothers milk.

After many many bottles they start adding flavoured gin to it too....

derekthe1adyhamster · 02/12/2018 09:30

Personally I hate cheaper prosecco, but can happily drink cheap cava! Aldi's champagne is lovely and I'm sure it's about to go down to 9.99 soon

Grace789 · 02/12/2018 11:35

I personally wouldn't but then when I tried it it tasted like fizzy vinegar.

Mailfuckoff · 02/12/2018 11:38

Do they all drink? My dh doesn't drink and gets so fed up of alcoholic presents which normally get saved up to give away. I'm giving my team nice chocolates as I know they can all enjoy them.
