Does your manager get you a gift a Christmas?

Just wondering if anybody gets a Christmas gift from their (very well paid) manager? I go above and beyond and have saved managers arse so many times....never get a thing. Maybe he should get me a mug, cuz that’s what I am!

Hmmm, my experience is that manager doesn't necessarily early significantly mire than his/ her team. Obviously it will depend on an industry/ department etc., but I've come a ross it several times.

I've worked for big commercial organisations and nobody bought presents for each other. Some managers gave cards to everyone in the team.

Maybe some managers bought their PA a present.

A manager might take the team out for a drink or a meal.

I work in the private sector (large international company). We get wine from the company, they put on a Christmas party with a few free drinks and I get gifts from certain ‘high up’ colleagues (not management). Depends how much you work with certain people though.

I manage a team of 5... I'll get them all a token gift like a mini bottle of something and some chocolates. I'm part-time and have 2 children under 3 so money is very tight. I was thinking of taking them all out for a meal but will do thst at the end of the work year!
My boss usually gets us all a scratchcard and mini box of chocs which is nice. We club together to get her something nice.

This year they are getting mid range candle and chocolates so about £10 each
We go out for a works Xmas meal which we pay for but I will also start off the drinks collection with £50 it’s not a huge team so might cover the wine at least

Always get my direct reports something. When I was at a lower grade and had a large team that i couldnt afford nice presents for I'd club together with the other managers in my section to do breakfast for them on the day of the Christmas party. This since spread and is done by the whole office, with management paying.

Several promotions later and I get my direct reports a bottle of wine or crate of beer. They will typically buy their direct reports something. One of them has a large team who have had a really tough year. We went out for a team meal and me and their boss picked up the drinks bill at the restaurant (I paid 75% and she paid 25%) as a thank you for their hard work this year.

There's about another 200 people who I have no line management responsibility for but who are the people who deliver the work in my section. Each team is getting a tub of chocs from me as a thank you.

I've always felt it important to say thank you to the people who I work with and Christmas is the perfect time, although I do extra gifts like a bottle of wine if someone has done a really good job or has had a tough time. I do save up and budget for it as part of my Christmas planning though!

Ours did (new manager now sadly 😢). Once she got me a Simon’s Cat brolley and a banana holder (plastic banana shaped thingy to stop them bruising in my bag on the way to work). She’d clearly listened to me moaning about how they were always bruised by lunchtime.
Tbf, I always got her something little too, she was a great manager and good friend.

My (very nice) boss always gets me a nice bottle of wine or bubbly (or posh chocs when I was pregnant last year).

I get my secretary something every year - usually wine but last year she was pregnant too so I got her a bottle of alcohol free prosecco.

The company pays for a Christmas party (3 course meal and free bar) and we get a small bonus in our December pay, usually £100 - £200 which is really nice.

I don't know as I only took on this role in March.

However, I manage a team of four and I will be getting each of them a gift

Surprise surprise, I got nothing! Not even a card saying thank you for all your help over the year and saving my arse multiple times .... really peed off, especially as other teams around me all had gifts from their bosses.

I'm a PA and I didn't get a gift this year (have every other year), and felt really hurt. It's not really even about the gift but about feeling appreciated! And I bought my manager a gift.

I'm lucky enough not to work now, but my DH had to work on Christmas Eve - he was allowed to go home an hour early (9pm) if he started an hour early. I think that was his managers idea of a present - oh, and this was the manager who dropped into the unit for a couple of hours, buggered off at lunch time without speaking to his staff, or wishing them a nice Christmas. Miserable git. DH was working Boxing Day, still no contact from the "manager".

I buy my direct reports gifts and then something for the rest of the team jointly.

My supervisor bought the team a bottle of wine each (team with 10 people in) which I thought was really sweet of him!

I work in a school and have never, in all the years I've been there, had so much as a Christmas card from any of the headteachers we've had. The teachers I work with closely usually give us a gift and of course, children and their parents are often very kind and thoughtful and send in a small gift. But management? Never.

Nope, not a thing at current job. Our company give £10 each towards a team lunch/dinner. However if you're one of the people working when the meal happens you get nothing.
So if you're rota'd on its no meal and no thank you.
