Is anyone else putting theirs up today?

I will be putting mine up today! I have several friends who have had theirs up for a week, which is too early even for me (I absolutely love Christmas) but December is fair game

Nicknamesalltaken · 01/12/2018 10:57

Making a start today. One tree (the fake one) will go up. I’ve hung a garland on the fireplace but am a bit hungover so might not be arsed to go into the loft until tomorrow.

I’ll make some rocky road and insist the teens sit with me to watch a film. Probably Elf. That’s the start of Christmas for me.

CarolDanvers · 01/12/2018 10:57

We are GlitterballSmile.

There's a big Christmas market on today, at the bottom of our road. So we are going to that, then back home for Christmas decorations. I wish the Sky Christmas scenes were up to I could put the log fire one on the TV.

BarbedBloom · 01/12/2018 10:59

I put mine up this morning. It is the only weekend we have free now before Christmas and can never be bothered after work

Starlight345 · 01/12/2018 11:00

I usually do the first weekend in December but not well so going to wait till next weekend.

mrsjg · 01/12/2018 11:00

We would normally wait until next weekend but we are away and feel that the weekend after would be too late so we're putting it up today. It will be the earliest we have ever put a tree up.

JaceLancs · 01/12/2018 11:03

Need to clean first so maybe some time next week
We always make an occasion of it
DD and her DP come over to help and I cook a special meal

AbsolCatly · 01/12/2018 11:16

All Christmas decorations are out of the cupboard,1 tree and most of the windows already dressed :) Christmas tunes playing - kids happy - will finish my tea then then will finish off before lunch - love December Grin

Bluebell878275 · 01/12/2018 11:21

Definitely! We are now officially allowed to play Christmas music and watch Christmas films..we have a lovely cosy, Chrismassy weekend ahead!

There are so many lovely decorations and smells this time of year..don't see anything wrong with using this month to embrace it.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 01/12/2018 11:23

YANBU, we’re doing ours today Grin

3boysandabump · 01/12/2018 11:35

We are. Just as soon as dh and dc come back with the tree. I'm so excited. Woke up to our elf back with everyone's advent calendars and stuck the Xmas music on. Love this time of year

TheChickenOfTruth · 01/12/2018 12:24

We always have an overly Christmassy day on 1st December. Christmas music, Christmas films, Christmas jumpers, tipple of Baileys. If it's a weekday we take the day off and go to a Christmas Market. It's tradition and we love it.

Haters gonna hate.

MrsMotherHen · 01/12/2018 12:27

yep one of ours is up next one goes up this week at some point.

DuchessAnnogovia · 01/12/2018 12:35

@CarolDanvers The Sky Christmas scenes are there, had the log fire one on yesterday

I usually put mine up on the night of the 12th as it's DDs birthday the next day

Hezz · 01/12/2018 13:15

What's the earliest a real tree can go up?

JaiNotJay · 01/12/2018 13:20

I'm putting mine up today, and I am normally the biggest grinch around! I've been a bit down in the dumps recently and I just want a bit of sparkle to cheer me up.

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 01/12/2018 13:26

We put a some up last weekend (As we won't be all together until late dec) and 3yo dragged MIL in the house to see, She just muttered that it was too early...to a happy faced 3yo. Early decs are better than a bah humbug attitude.

ButtMuncher · 01/12/2018 13:26

Was planning to do it today but today has gone a bit haywire and not looking forward to trying it with a toddler in the midst of tantrumming so may do it tomorrow. So tempted with today though, will need to send DH out to get the tree from the garage after I've eaten a hangover McDonald's Grin

incognito0 · 01/12/2018 13:27

I'm cleaning the windows and bleaching the wooden frames (fucking hate this job!!) in anticipation of putting the decorations up.

I threw them up last year with my head practically down the toilet pregnant last year. I love Christmas, I am doing it today and I don't care!!!

justforareply · 01/12/2018 13:33

Get them out! I'm getting up my tree today - at £70 or so, it's important to get your moneys worth out of it!

CarolDanvers · 01/12/2018 13:36

@DuchessAnnogovia Shock

I'm obsessed with the sky Christmas scenes, I think of them fondly at intervals throughout the year. It's become one of my serious Christmas traditions.

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 01/12/2018 13:46

I put mine up in my uni house 1st November and we had flatmas yesterday with full christmas dinner courtesy of me. My home decorations won't actually go up till after the 15th because thats when I'm going home and mum wont put them up without me.

HJWT · 01/12/2018 13:49

I spend a bomb on decs this year, so mines up, it's a waste for only 2 weeks as some people do

SweetLathyrus · 01/12/2018 13:52

I would normally put them up in the house first weekend in December, but this year it's snuck up on me and I'm not prepared - and being the 1st today, a bit early since DH will not tolerate taking them down before 12th night!

Outside our entire road used to do a 1st of December outdoor switch on, but the weather has been so bad this week, no one has managed to get up a ladder.

I am getting excited though, I've ordered a new Ballsam Hill Tree which should arrive mid week.

Blanchedupetitpois · 01/12/2018 13:52

Mine are going up next week cos we always have a real tree and I want it to last. But YANBU, it’s December so it’s fair game!
