Having lots of these.
Some recurring, some completely bizarre shit, and some that have obvious roots.
Can anyone share theirs?

When I was pregnant with my second child I had a very vivid dream of my first born falling off the roof of a car park. It was so realistic that I woke up screaming. It went on for a few weeks and my midwife explained it was probably to do with the anxiety of bringing another child home. Whatever it was I certainly don’t park in that car park anymore and don’t ever park on the outer edge of any other car parks either!

I still remember a one -off, not recurring nightmare I had as a small child. Dreamt I was on my tricycle in the garden playing until it got dark. When I went to go in the house my mum and brother wouldn't let me. Absolutely terrifying.

Usually something on the tv or in the news turns out to be the trigger for vivid dreams.

TheGhostsOfPresidentsYetToCome · 30/11/2018 08:00

Also whilst pregnant, I dreamt I was Anne Boleyn and my baby didn’t survive but everyone was too scared to tell me. They replaced the navy with a very small 9 year old and hoped i wouldn’t notice. Weird and really disturbed me.

I also had an terrible one about a planet eating alien after playing the computer game “The Maw”. That one was so bleak, it took me days to shake off.

gamerchick · 30/11/2018 08:02

I dreamed my husband and close friend were nobbing each other. I woke up mad at both of them. It was a weird experience until I got over myself. Husband thought it was really funny as I sat and pouted Grin

Houseonahill · 30/11/2018 08:02

I had a dream once I was being chased around a random village by a guy with a shotgun and in the end he caught me as he shot me in the stomach I woke up but it was horrible it was the most vivid dream I've ever had like I could feel everything, the rain the road when I was hiding under a car it was weird never have a dream like it again thankfully.

EmeraldShamrock · 30/11/2018 08:02

Yes often. I have mad dreams most nights but when one of my DC is badly hurt or died in them, it almost feels real Sad

smellyhouseelf · 30/11/2018 08:03

I once had a nightmare that I tried to drown my son in the bath. Absolutely awful. Cried over it for days. Still tear up when I think about it. Like now. On the bus 😂

ManicUnicorn · 30/11/2018 08:03

Yes. It used to happen quite often when I was on AD's. I also used to have huge, long dreams that were like epic movies.

Myotherhusbandisgaryoldman · 30/11/2018 08:05

My most horrible recent one that also crops up quite regularly is about horrible, shitty dirty school toilets and trying to find a clean one.
Vile

I have PTSD so yes, but I think that’s extreme and it comes as part of the intrusion of the trauma

AmyLou14 · 30/11/2018 08:07

Yeah, I had a dream that I was standing in my hall watching DP trying to put shoes on DD and she was crying and kicking and he got really angry with her. In the dream he shouts and then attempts to ram the show in her mouth telling her if she doesn’t want to wear it she can eat it. Considering my partner is so laid back he is horizontal, my DD was 6 weeks old and no where near shoes and DP has ruined every vest we own pulling it off the body rather than over the head because the dark frightens the baby. It was the most bizarre thing ever and I didn’t fully trust him for days, constantly felt sick around him. Had to tell him in the end and he was devastated. All because of a dream! It was just so real. X

Putkettleonlove · 30/11/2018 08:08

I had a sex dream involving that bloke with the mullet from Homes Under the Hammer. Still makes me shudder

grumpy4squash · 30/11/2018 08:11

Sex dreams about my boss Blush
He's a nice guy, but I don't fancy him and the dreams are terrible.

HeyPesto55 · 30/11/2018 08:11

I never liked Take That when I was younger. (This was first time around obviously). Actively disliked them in fact. Not my kind of music and did not find any of them remotely attractive.

I had a dream one night that Gary Barlow was the love of my life. It was a total all-consuming, meant to be together forever, star-crossed lovers kind of love. No idea where it came from because Gary was by no means the most attractive of TT back then. Probably nearly 20 years ago now and I still have a fondness for him when he comes on tv. I can recall how we felt Grin

AllThatMatters · 30/11/2018 09:07

I had a dream when DD1 was a baby that she had died and I was sitting on a bed looking at loads of photos of her, feeling this absolute consuming grief. I even pinched myself in my dream and it hurt, it felt so real. When I woke up I almost cried with relief. I will never forget that dream and I actually feel like in some way I have been given a second chance - that is how real it felt.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/11/2018 09:17

Yes. Quite a few extremely disturbing.
One where there was a car crash and someone just said in the most detached tone. 'The baby's on fire'.
I had that dream when I wAs around 6. Still traumatises me.

One where I was in a morgue and half my face had been bitten off. My nose was shattered into peices.

One where a Japanese couple where staying in a hotel and they found me un der their matteress all squashed up. And emaciated. However I was still alive.

I'll probably remember more.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/11/2018 09:22

Ooh another one where I was being raped and pinched on the neck.
And a voice was saying in the back ground "Don't mark her. Don't mark her" over and over.

steppemum · 30/11/2018 09:24

I often have dreams that are slightly close to real life, but with some bizarre twist.
So dh ill and the doctor won't help.
Or something mundane like trying to clean house and it is dirtier than when I started.

Because they are close to life, I wake up with the feeling that it has really happened and it can take ages to shake it off. Occasionally I even have to ask myself - was that a dream.
The emotions connected to them can be really strong and disturbing, even the mundane ones.
It is usually a huge relief to find out it is a dream, but the emotional shadow can linger all day.

They are obviously my minds way of processing anxiety.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 30/11/2018 09:25

I have really vivid dreams and I dream in colour it is scarily real ..its almost a relief to wake up!

Kismetjayn · 30/11/2018 09:28

Lots of disturbing dreams over the years but the worst one for lingering is the least disturbing.

I'm one and done. Very averse to any more children, to the point of phobic about any more accidental pregnancies. But then I dreamed about having a little boy. In my dream he was about 6mos old, he had the bluest eyes, soft little baby hair, much finer than DD's at that age. I could smell his soft baby smell, he was so lovely. Since then I've been vaguely upset about not having that little boy to the point of tears initially, though we still aren't planning on making him a reality!

Bailiffhelpplease · 30/11/2018 09:29

I never dream. Never have! Cannot remember ever having a dream. Not sure if creepy or lucky given some of these

Howhot · 30/11/2018 09:30

I have very vivid dreams. Not so much now but in my late teens especially. I had a horrific dream the other night about my son drowning in the bath and I woke up crying. I could feel the pain in my heart, heaviness in my chest.

ASundayWellSpent · 30/11/2018 09:34

When my DD2 was a few months old I had a dream in which I was just going about my normal routine with family school run etc friends and then I asked someone, I think my DH, where DD2 was and had to be reminded that she had died. All the pain of the realization that she had died and like "flashbacks" of remembering that came flooding over me and I woke up sobbing my heart out it felt so so real, I have never felt a pain like that in my waking life. That was 18 months ago and am crying writing it here, still haven't managed to shift the "realness" of the pain, thank god it was just a nightmare and she's fine

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 30/11/2018 09:36

You do dream, Bailiffhelpplease. You have to dream as its the only way your brain can keep active while your body sleeps.
However not everyone remembers their dreams.

Vampiratequeen · 30/11/2018 09:37

I had a dream once where my DD jumped out of a 3rd story window onto concrete, I woke up crying, then I had one that m DS feel in a river and broke his neck. Both of those dreams still make me sick to my stomach now.
