And why not? Trashing the reputation of Mark Carney. Moving his finance business to Ireland in order to keep his business in the EU. And still persisting in telling us suckers that we'll all better off outside the EU. Not financially better off, no, not for many years but we'll be free of the tyranny of t he euro state. Hurrah.

I really could care less what Leavers/Brexiteers think of me any more than I care about the opinions of someone who supports a different party to me. To answer your question, I would say there have been some stupid assertions from remainers about the NHS and foreign workers or about multi nationals just packing up and going. That is scare mongering but not particularly dangerous. However refusing to accept that our economy will shrink in the event of a No Deal or insisting we can get a better deal because the EU 'need us more than we need them' is ludicrous and dangerous.

longwayoff · 29/11/2018 12:28

Surfer. You'd better read a bit more. Extremely Basic Economics for Those Who Really Don't Get It would be good place to start.

Apparently JRM called MC a second tier Canadian politician because he had read ( probably on Wiki) that he had held the post of deputy minister. This post actually translates as permanent secretary which rank he held whilst working for the Canadian Government ie a top civil servant. He has never stood for political office and he is widely credited with the fact that Canada avoided the worst excesses of the global crash in 2008. He is very talented and successful and as a pp said everything he says gets deliberately and maliciously misreported by most of our utterly pathetic MSM.

surferjet · 29/11/2018 12:32

Remaining in the EU would not protect you from anything you mentioned.
We’ve gone from one recession to another in the past 45 years.
& if life had been so bloody wonderful for everyone in the EU no one would have voted to leave!

BertrandRussell · 29/11/2018 12:32

“A man who won't change a nappy isn't a decent man.”

I loathe him. But I would put money on the mother of his children not having changed many nappies either.

WitchesWeb · 29/11/2018 12:33

Will you be happy if it's you or one of your relatives sitting in a trolley for 12 hours because the NHS is at breaking point? Or your dc don't have a proper maths teachers because they school can't pay enough to recruit and they fail their maths GCSE? Grow up

Telling people to grow up is childish.

In case you haven't noticed these things are already happening and have been for a number of years.

I voted remain and would still rather we stayed in but the sneering and down nose looking at others that don't think the same as you or aren't being listened to, is partly the reason Brexit and Trump have happened.

Monkeynuts18 · 29/11/2018 12:34

I never quite understand people who think that a falling housing market will enable young people to get on the housing ladder. Do you think that a large pool of affordable housing with suddenly become available as people rush to sell their homes for 40% less than they paid for them? Because of the joys of being in negative equity?

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 29/11/2018 12:34

But those stupid assertions that were 'just' scare mongering and in your words not particularly dangerous are dangerous because they have removed trust so people don't listen to other arguments.

If you couldn't care less what leavers think of you then you are part of the problem. If you don't care less what they think of you why should they care about you and what you think and therefore why listen to your reasoning ? We need to care what they think about us so we can influence people because how they vote effects us all

bellinisurge · 29/11/2018 12:34

If the mother of his children hasn't changed a nappy, I don't rate her either. But she isn't on TV every day faking a patrician Tory load of crap.

surferjet · 29/11/2018 12:36

Thanks for the tip, but I don’t rate the intellect of someone who doesn’t know the difference between a forecast & a fact.

Unescorted · 29/11/2018 12:36

surfer in a smaller economy it is more likely. Just as if you walk across a quiet road you could be hit by a car. If you walk across a motorway you are more likely to be hit.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/11/2018 12:39

Monkeynuts18 not everyone is in negative equity in which case the slowing of the market is all relative.

Monkeynuts18 · 29/11/2018 12:40

Anyway, YANBU OP. Tbh, I think his views on same sex marriage, abortion, the morning after pill, and climate change are enough to justify a two minute hate, before you get anywhere near his behaviour in relation to Brexit.

MissEliza · 29/11/2018 12:43

I agree with you Witches these are problems that have been going on for years and that's what the government should be focusing on not trying to sort out a mess cause by a referendum intended to stop the growth of UKIP eating into Tory votes.
I generally have a policy of 'live and let live' but when people consistently dismiss the views of experts, whether individuals or organisations, I get very frustrated,

longwayoff · 29/11/2018 12:44

O surfer. Cling on to your illusions. You'll be needing them.

OP posts:
MissEliza · 29/11/2018 12:48

They have removed trust. Brexit hasn't actually happened yet so we don't know these assertions were wrong.. I actually think the lack of planning about Brexit will actually make the NHS recruitment problem a reality when it didn't have to be. I personally believe we should be trying harder to train and recruit more nurses and doctors from within the UK and it's pretty lazy to be so dependent on bringing in foreign workers. However I digress...,

2010Aussie · 29/11/2018 12:59

"Genuine posh people who are more likeable"

The late Baroness Trumpington for one. She was brilliant. And I've met and worked with a lot of aristocrats in my time. The genuine Old Money types are usually very down to earth and treat everyone, whether duke or dustman, with respect. A lot also give substantial amounts to charity and help people out. It's not what you are born into, it's what you do with it.

JRM is a loathsome self-centred toad. I lost all respect for him that time a nutter accosted him and his young son & nanny outside his house. Instead of sending the boy inside to safety, he made the lad stand outside, while he argued with the other chap. The child was clearly distressed. It was very uncomfortable to watch

tenredthings · 29/11/2018 13:08

I can't at stand him ! He's a plummy voiced, overly privileged Dickensian throwback. He makes my skin crawl.

Self serving nasty piece of work with a superiority complex

That's pretty much what I say about him when I'm feeling charitable.

mothertruck3r · 29/11/2018 19:53

How very Orwellian...

Mark Carney's inaccurate predictions, debasement of the currency, suppression of interest rates to make sure the engineered Tory housing bubble doesn't burst seems to have conveniently disappeared down the memory hole...

Patroclus · 29/11/2018 20:38

Can people stop using 'Orwellian' for everything please.

ForalltheSaints · 29/11/2018 20:48

Jacob Rees-Mogg looks posh, acts posh, is posh, and so you know what you are getting.

No-one is still in prison because of intemperate inaccurate remarks made by him.
He has not referred to those from Liverpool as seeking victim status.
He has not recited silly poems about another country's leader.
He does not suck up to Donald Trump.
He is not a serial adulterer.
He has not wasted money on buses with conductors who do not take fares, or on vehicles with water cannon that have not got permission to be used in England.

Unlike Boris Johnson.

topcat2014 · 29/11/2018 20:51

You know things are bad when you have to start falling out with Canadians!

I love Canada and used to travel to Ottawa with work - don't need to any more - boo hoo..

goldiehawn1 · 29/11/2018 20:59

Miss Eliza, we will get all the money you want for the NHS and all the other things this country desperately needs money 💰 spent on by NOT PAYING THE EU all those billions of £££££££££££££££s

Makes complete sense to me.

The EU is a completely corrupt organisation.
