And why not? Trashing the reputation of Mark Carney. Moving his finance business to Ireland in order to keep his business in the EU. And still persisting in telling us suckers that we'll all better off outside the EU. Not financially better off, no, not for many years but we'll be free of the tyranny of t he euro state. Hurrah.

No I never believed the bus, but it isn't me you are trying to convince! That is what I'm saying the people you need to convince won't listen to Mark Carney because in their minds what he said last time was wrong so he'll probably be wrong again. Constantly remain campaigners have focused on the negatives of leaving not the positives of staying for example saying every household in UK will be 2000 pounds a year off if we leave, they should be saying staying in the EU will make us 2000 pounds a year better off than leaving it the sounds positive and not negative (figures made up to show my point).

The leave campaign gave hope to people that feel they have nothing to lose, they showed them how life coukd be better if we leave the EU the remain campaign didn't tell them how life can improve inside the EU and all the benefits the EU brings it just gave negatives and told people they were stupid for believing the leavers.
The way the negotiations are going is only strengthening the belief of leavers that the EU is a bad and strengthening their resolve to leave.

Remainders need to stop telling people they are stupid for wanting to leave, stop telling them what may, and it is just a may, happen and tell them what the EU does for us and has done for us.
JRM is a fool and should be easily beaten but posts like this and protesters shouting at his kids only get him sympathy and more followers.

To win this argument remainers need to change how they campaign and fast

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 29/11/2018 11:49

MissEliza
Your post and attitude is fine example of why leave voters feel they way they do.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/11/2018 11:50

Not directly about JRM but re: fall in house prices- I for one think about time- perhaps some younger people might now stand a chance on getting onto the ladder

Ninoo25 · 29/11/2018 11:50

YANBU I loathe JRM, the only good thing I can say about him is that he appears to be honest and show his true awful self to the public.
For me his worst moment was when he said that he was proud that we have so many food banks in this country because it shows that we are a compassionate nation. Agree with the compassionate nation being a good thing, but he is part of the government that allowed the circumstances where food banks are a necessity to happen and continue to this day. He is truly awful. As much as I would like TM gone from no 10 I do worry that someone like him would take her place

surferjet · 29/11/2018 11:51

Why are remainers obsessed with money?
That’s all they focused on in their campaign which is why they lost.
Not everyone is money mad. Some people would rather be happy than rich.

Oooohhhhh - The economy will fall by 3% over the next 15 years. 😱😱 big f**king deal.
Most people in the UK couldn’t give a toss.

Oh. & I love JRM 😘

Talkinpeece · 29/11/2018 11:56

Some people would rather be happy than rich.
But being happy when you have no job, no home and no benefits gets rather tricky

MissEliza · 29/11/2018 11:57

Only my attitude is derived from some of the fucking ridiculous things I've heard leavers say in the face of all facts. I normally just ignore ignorant people but not when their actions in voting leave may result in economic disaster for this country. I have three dcs aged between 19 and 10. It is their generation that is most likely to be screwed by Brexit. Thanks a bunch.

bellinisurge · 29/11/2018 12:00

He's not very good at being posh. His hair is silly, his clothes don't fit, he isn't the "get stuck in" type that genuinely posh people are which makes them more likeable. He talks like a parody of himself which was a fun schtick that he had on Have I Got News For You. He's third rate.

MissEliza · 29/11/2018 12:00

Surfer how are we going to infect the desperately needed cash into the NHS or schools if our economy shrinks? Will you be happy if it's you or one of your relatives sitting in a trolley for 12 hours because the NHS is at breaking point? Or your dc don't have a proper maths teachers because they school can't pay enough to recruit and they fail their maths GCSE? Grow up

BertrandRussell · 29/11/2018 12:04

“His hair is silly, his clothes don't fit, he isn't the "get stuck in" type that genuinely posh people are which makes them more likeable.”

Eh? Like who, for instance?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/11/2018 12:06

Why are remainers obsessed with money?

And in addition for the need of money to provide state services, the increased costs and poorer economy will negatively impact businesses. -> more unemployment, lower tax income for the state, downwards spiral ... all so totally bloody unnecessary.

bellinisurge · 29/11/2018 12:08

I've met a lot of posh people in my time (I'm old) they are generally divided up into two types: no ability to engage with anyone who isn't posh and unwilling to muck in vs genial enough and willing to to physical labour/get dirty (literarily). I don't have to like how they got their wealth or status (often just the latter) but I can deal with them.

CeriseCerise · 29/11/2018 12:09

wow loving the 'liberal' hate on here. you'll find someone new to hate tomorrow I expect anyone who disagrees with you basically. have you heard the one about those who live in glass greenhouses shouldn't throw stones?

surferjet · 29/11/2018 12:10

MissEliza your argument would be brilliant if life before brexit was wonderful - thing is, it wasn’t.
We had unemployment.
We had mental illness / suicide
We had NHS waiting lists & people dyyng on trolleys.
We had terrible recessions.
We had shit education.

& guess what, we’ll still have all that if we stay in the EU!

bellinisurge · 29/11/2018 12:11

A man who won't change a nappy isn't a decent man.

CeriseCerise · 29/11/2018 12:11

p.s. goady twats above belong in the Guardian, which these days is just one long hate festival by 'journalists' and commentators alike. can't believe i used to buy it.

longwayoff · 29/11/2018 12:12

Polo. You mean fantasist, obviously.

OP posts:
BarbarianMum · 29/11/2018 12:12

Surfer do you understand what a shrinking economy plus rising prices looks like? It's not pretty.

BarbarianMum · 29/11/2018 12:14

So which of those are going to be be benefited by having less money surfer? Because they can all get an awful lot worse, or pretty much cease to exist. And they werent terrible because we were part of the EU so I dont see how leaving it will help.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 29/11/2018 12:15

MissEliza

So you haven't heard any remainers say anything ridiculous? Is it all stupid people you want to remove the right to vote from or only people who voted leave?

Surely you can see why attitudes like that turns people against you?

longwayoff · 29/11/2018 12:18

Apologies only, I too have misunderstood you.

OP posts:
longwayoff · 29/11/2018 12:23

Only fools. A fall in house prices together with a rise in interest rates is unlikely to free up much housing for first time buyers. Will you be selling your house for a third less than current value? Etc

Unescorted · 29/11/2018 12:24

surfer my happiness depends on being able to eat, and sleep somewhere warm and dry. If I lose my job due to a shrinking economy it will be difficult to pay my supermarket bill and my mortgage. Therefore my happiness is contingent on the health of the economy... I suspect this is the same for many people.
