To mollycoddle PLB (Aged 249 months)

ManchesterMum63 · 27/11/2018 23:00

As I was spraying Lavender Sleep Mist on my PLB's pillows earlier, having just prepared his 3rd "feast" of the day (even though the fridge is ALWAYS empty) I realised that I may be mollycoddling him I know i amBlush to another level as he's the last one at home... On-demand sweatyEnvy foot rubs anyone? But he's only 249 months old and will fly the nest soon Confused whilst i cling to his ankles

Whereas DH is told to 'help himself' in the kitchen / maybe try reflexology next year if his feet are achingGrin

And I know I didn't always have the time/forethought/patience to always do the same for all the other 4 DC's... Who've all survived/flourished rather well...

What over the top crazy wouldn't tell the other siblings lovely things do you do to spoil your almost 6' little ones - my list is quite long come to think of itHmm

PF&LB had turkey dinosaurs for dinner. I was envious.

ManchesterMum63 · 28/11/2018 18:03

Obviously not meant to be 'creepy/cringe-inducing' LaLoba and yes it was/is all 'light-hearted' thanks SootSprite and all siblings were well-coddled in different ways

Thanks lifebeginz - yes all ours were 'spoiled' - 'emergency' uni/college visits with food salmon/steak on occasion fluffier blankets/lots of treats and loooong chats whilst they waffled talked meaningfully about life/their future - decades of nurturing really...

Yulebeallrite - some of ours had to suffer like yours too - evenConfusedPLB

Thanks Colditz - ours manage to be helpful/kind/independent - but don't we all like to be cherished...? I doSmile

SpottingTheZebras - as the hooman selected by 4 cats, that's a whoooole other threadBlush

Pieceofpurplesky - yup i buy those too and sometime post to PFB Am sure his wife is deeeelighted appalledShock

Owowfuckeeow - i suppose it is each to their own.

My elderly DFather has just popped round to make me some of his 'miraculous get-well-this has- more-iron-than-steak' soup as i've been ill for a few days... the same soup he made for my mother and for me after delivering said DC's and needing to recover... Similar behaviours and never feeling controlling/creepy... but yes it's all subjective isn't it?

Loubluee - Yes even our boys all do this - must be the laughing stock - it's lovely

My PLB is only 75 months old and has decided that when she'll grow up she'll live in Italy where I would have to move too. We'll share a room while her husband sleeps in another room. Hmm

ManchesterMum63 · 28/11/2018 18:05

AgentProvacateur - Hahaa yup done that one - and always included enough for a glass of wine if they've had a stressful day (only at 216+ months of course)

And she made me breakfast last weekend with her older brother

I am the PLB, comfortably over 600 months, and my DM still does a hot water bottle for me when I visit. And makes marmite toast just right

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 28/11/2018 18:36

My PFB (247) months still likes a little “Mummy time” before bed ... the fact that this has to be done via WhatsApp is neither here nor there.... she needs her Mummy.

Bellatrix14 · 28/11/2018 18:38

As a PFB of 307 months who (while admittedly still living at home for very little rent) started to make her own packed lunches every day at around 108 months, and hasn’t had a meal cooked by either of her parents for about 10 years (except Christmas, because they insist) I am reading all of this with polite bewilderment.

My mother is very keen for me to move out, and her and the PLB (223 months) like to reminisce longingly about the time when I was at University and they had the house to themselves. Oh to be a younger child!

Redcrayons · 28/11/2018 18:56

What’s this pillow spray stuff? I feel like my poor children have been deprived and I’m a terrible mother. They’re only 180 months so still plenty of time to make it up to them.

WhoTookTheCookie · 28/11/2018 19:01

I'm a PLB.
My mum would straighten my hair for me while I did my make-up.
She'd bring me breakfast in bed.
She could always make a cup of tea just right.
She knew when I was upset before I even walked through the door; there'd be ice cream, chocolate, tea and a hot bath waiting for me.
I remember the nights when I was suffering terribly with anxiety and having nightmares; she would lay next to me and stroke my hair and hold my hand.
Could never beat a proper mummy cuddle either.

She passed at the end of August. I miss my mummy Sad

PFB - aged just 195 months - phones me up when she is about to get the tube so I can put the kettle on so the water is hot and ready to make her mug of tea when she gets home.

PLB phones her dad on a Friday to put the pizza in the oven so it is ready when she gets home from school - OK so it is about 7pm and she is STARVING by then.

WhoTookTheCookie · 28/11/2018 19:22

Massively put a downer on your thread there!
Sorry, @ManchesterMum63

My (currently) PLB has me wrapped round her little finger.
I brush her teeth, cut her sandwiches with cookie cutters, let her sleep in my bed every night.
I spray her pillow with sleep spray, give her foot rubs every night with special cream.

But she is only 40 months Grin

I am a harsh, harsh parent and do not have a place on this thread.

onlyonmumnet · 28/11/2018 19:52

Love this gorgeous thread ❤️

CuthbertDibble · 28/11/2018 20:01

I'm the PFB but, at the grand old age of 621 months, I'm happy to report that my dad will still peel my prawns for me because he knows I don't like doing it.

LaPufalina · 28/11/2018 20:22

Awww you cuties!
Mine are 24m and 3m so not much optional spoiling (yet). I'm a PFB (476m Grin) and my mum still gets me my favourite foods in when I visit, and they never go out for a Chinese meal if I'm with them on holiday because I don't care for it, even though they love it and I weakly protest to not skip it on my account Blush

WickedGirl · 28/11/2018 20:31

I still wash my precious 241 month old pfb hair in the bath for her

SinglePringle · 28/11/2018 20:41

Wicked, your twenty year old? You wash the hair of your TWENTY year old?!

Shock
Ski37 · 28/11/2018 20:51

Lovely and very funny thread!
I am a PFB at 456 months of age with my own house and a very responsible job- I still get a hot water bottle in my bed if it’s cold when I go home to visit my DM and DF and I love it 😀

Hippywannabe · 28/11/2018 21:00

I have given my PSB (aka DS2) aged 351months his advent calendar ready for the weekend. To be fair he did remind me that his own PFB will be arriving next week......
I just can't not buy advent calendars for them! (I did buy PDIL one too although maybe at 363 months, it might be nearly time to stop?)

fibonaccisequins · 28/11/2018 21:02

I just chucked a Werther's Original (well, Lidl knock off butterscotch candy) at my 144 month old from across the room. And I managed not to hit her on the face. I win!!
GrinGrin
Loving this thread, but I definitely don't have a space on it!! Wink
