To mollycoddle PLB (Aged 249 months)

ManchesterMum63 · 27/11/2018 23:00

As I was spraying Lavender Sleep Mist on my PLB's pillows earlier, having just prepared his 3rd "feast" of the day (even though the fridge is ALWAYS empty) I realised that I may be mollycoddling him I know i amBlush to another level as he's the last one at home... On-demand sweatyEnvy foot rubs anyone? But he's only 249 months old and will fly the nest soon Confused whilst i cling to his ankles

Whereas DH is told to 'help himself' in the kitchen / maybe try reflexology next year if his feet are achingGrin

And I know I didn't always have the time/forethought/patience to always do the same for all the other 4 DC's... Who've all survived/flourished rather well...

What over the top crazy wouldn't tell the other siblings lovely things do you do to spoil your almost 6' little ones - my list is quite long come to think of itHmm

I am headed this way with my PLB (70 months)

She still can't tie her school tie and I help her dress in the morning and her Dad lets her play games on his phone while I do her hair. Worst of it is she has 2 much older sisters who are complicit in the spoiling.

Never fear MN some PLB young man will fall for my PLB girl and they can live in dysfunctional bliss together. They may even take to spoiling each other.

melamin what in gods name is FTFOTTFSOFTFOSM !!??

Lweji · 28/11/2018 16:06

Fuck off to the far side of fuck and then fuck off some more (or some variant)

It's a MN mantra, although somewhat less used now.

anneofavonlee · 28/11/2018 16:06

My PFB is a mere 207.5 months and I give him a lift to the bus stop every morning which is 200 yards away lest the drizzle soak his blazer and he will be damp for the day. He begs asks to be able to walk but the thought of him being uncomfortable all day actually hurts my heart. He wants to go overseas away for uni and I'm already thinking of ways to sabotage this as it is too much to bear. He was only born recently and now he wants to fly the nest?

My PCB (precious cat born) is frequently carried from where he sleeps to his food and then carried back to a comfortable and warm spot to snooze for the day. If he is on the bed and taking up all the duvet, I just lie in the cold.

crispysausagerolls · 28/11/2018 16:12

I’m the PLB (324 months) and my mother still:

  1. makes me a magic bed when I’m sick
  2. makes me cucumber sandwiches and strokes my hair when sick
  3. gives me foot massages just because
  4. Calls me babychick

I have my own baby now, but I’ll always be hers 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️😂

anneofavonlee · 28/11/2018 16:16

Has anyone else thought of upsizing their house so that the DC (but especially PLB) can live with them forever? I will be there constantly to provide free childcare for their dc, I will be the most fantastic MIL ever. I dread to be the DGP in AIBU that only gets a visit once every 4 months.

SinglePringle · 28/11/2018 16:16

Blimey Anne, there’s mollycoddling (cute and lighthearted) and stifling (thwarting and scary)...!

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/11/2018 16:22

My PFB is also my PLB. She was only 120 months at her last birthday. When she’s poorly I have been known to spoon feed her and still brush her teeth on occasion. She is too heavy to carry but she still likes to sit on my knee. I do expect her to hang her coat up and put her shoes away. Ergo I am also a horrible mum.

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/11/2018 16:24

Anne
Ummm, no.

Lweji · 28/11/2018 16:27

I will be there constantly (...), I will be the most fantastic MIL ever.

The two are mutually exclusive.

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/11/2018 16:27

DS is 168 months and still wants a foot rub. Now the teenage smells have hit he only asks after a shower ....

I am nearly 600 months and my mum still gets me an advent Calendar ....

erykahb · 28/11/2018 16:30

Oh this thread has made me smile a toothy smile Grin

EdisonLightBulb · 28/11/2018 16:43

When my PLB comes home I put a hot water bottle in her bed, turn the sheets down and buy her salted popcorn. She is only 262 months and 2 days though.

TBF, I do similar for my PFB age 293 months too.

It makes me feel useful.

Littlechocola · 28/11/2018 16:48

Like minded people ! My PLB is 144 months. He still likes snuggles but only on his terms. He likens me to Beverly Goldberg. I can’t help it.

owowfuckeeow · 28/11/2018 16:49

Some of these aren’t cute. Just sounds controlling and almost creepy

Good luck to your child's future spouse.

Rememory · 28/11/2018 17:24

I may know of a 540 month PFB who's Mum puts hot water bottles in their bed when they visit even in Summer!

loubluee · 28/11/2018 17:35

Ds- 14 & 18. I get their cereal ready, get their pj’s and towels ready after a shower, get their boxers, socks and clothes ready each day (as in what are you wearing? Then ironing it), make their meals (they do cook when asked and are both really good!), I make their beds (the cleaner changes them).
Yeah...... I admit I still baby them whilst I can Blush They can do all this stuff and will do when I ask or when I’m unwell. I think that’s why I enjoy doing it when I’m well....

loubluee · 28/11/2018 17:38

Oh and they still give loads of hugs each day, and all their friends are used to hearing them say ‘Love you mum’ over their headsets. They used to laugh, now they don’t register it lol

otterturk · 28/11/2018 17:40

I don't have any yet but as a mere 360 month old precious only I know I'll get home to see my DF this weekend to fresh sheets, especially fluffy towels folded on the end of my bed, all my favourite foods and when I leave he will walk me the 35 metres to the station while making sure to wrap me in one of his scarves for the long dangerous walk.

I love him, he's the best.

Lovely thread this.

Lweji · 28/11/2018 17:41

Ds- 14 & 18 ...(they do cook when asked)

They sound very precocious. Wink

AnneTwackie · 28/11/2018 17:53

I gently wake my 168 month PLB each morning, hold his dressing gown out with eyes closed and then supervise his teeth brushing, little bubs wants braces but can’t get them clean without mumma

AgentProvocateur · 28/11/2018 18:01

My PLB is 268 months. I buy him cocopops and Nutella when he’s home and send him restaurant vouchers every month so he doesn’t starve to death Blush
