To report friend to police......

Exactly that.
Would you? Wouldn’t you?
Does it depend on the crime/activity?
What would you turn a blind eye to and what wouldn’t you be able to ignore?

Well, she never dobbed me in so I wouldn’t grass her.
Only fair.

Coronapop · 27/11/2018 20:50

If you believe it is fair for your friend to acquire a criminal record for something they have done, then maybe. Otherwise, no.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 27/11/2018 20:54

Surely it depends on the context? If a friend of mine stole a loaf of bread and pint of milk because she was too skint to pay, no. If a friend robbed a bank at gunpoint because they were a greedy twat, yes.

If you post something with no context people can't always give much of a response.

GlassSuppers · 27/11/2018 20:58

I hate when people only tell a bit of the story.

Tell us more OP!

1MillionSelfiesTakenByMyKids · 27/11/2018 21:07

Oh come on

Lorddenning1 · 27/11/2018 21:07

BerriTerri · 27/11/2018 21:08

Shall I go out tomorrow?

Lorddenning1 · 27/11/2018 21:13

Shit did I mess it up :( what do we call people who storm out of a thread all dramatic?

GobbyMcGobshite · 27/11/2018 21:15

Unless they were a rapist, peadophile or murderer? No I wouldn't report them. I wasn't brought up to be a grass

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/11/2018 21:19

A family member of mine has on numerous occasions bumped up insurance claims, and will always say something didn’t arrive and get a refund or replacement sent, which they then sell, if an item isn’t sent recorded delivery. It sounds daft written down, but it really irks me, particularly when it’s people (individuals, not companies) selling on eBay. I would never report them, but it has definitely made me think less of them. The person is really wealthy, and sees it as “beating the system”, it’s not that they are desperate for money.

SummerStrong · 27/11/2018 21:25

It would depend on the crime (and if they'd hurt somebody)

Shoplifting, petty fraud....no I wouldn't
Rape or child abuse...definitely

tinselfest · 27/11/2018 21:34

I think I'd have to say yes, I would. On the whole - for a few 'lesser' circumstances it might depend. Fortunately I have never been caught in that moral dilemma.

gamblingaddict · 27/11/2018 21:39

For starting a thread and then disappearing? Absolutely!

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 27/11/2018 21:44

Exactly that

Exactly what? No context, no detail, no willingness to enter into any sort of discussion Hmm

TheFaerieQueene · 27/11/2018 21:45

You can’t possibly have a useful response to the question without context.

Hairyfairy01 · 27/11/2018 21:46

If they were driving 31 mph in a 30 zone I would probably leave it. If they had committed mass murder I would probably report it. HTH.

Leila is asking about a “principle”

She isn’t asking for you guys to judge her story or to tell her how to implement her principle in the story

You lot are all so nosy to be aggressively asking for details. Should be up to her you bored souls

PerverseConverse · 27/11/2018 21:49

You think you're going to be treated to a nice juicy thread and instead it's a vague OP with nothing to go on and a "first time poster" that flounces when they can't understand that without context their thread is a waste of time. Somebody hoping to create a great debate and then realised they look a bit of a twit.

ILoveHumanity · 27/11/2018 21:55

perverse
Oh sod off

The OP question reads to me as
:

“ is it morally wrong to report a friend to a police if they had done something wrong?”.

That’s a perfectly complete question. About the morals of something. Doesn’t matter what the details are.

Perhaps she was looking for people to share their personal experiences.

Not everyone likes their life to be on the internet. Well done OP for not sharing any outing details !

LeilaDarling · 27/11/2018 22:01

He is in severe financial difficulty (self inflicted). Has met a wealthy woman online, has got her to invest 30k in a new business venture (made up) and he is about to ask for another instalment. That’s as specific as I can be. Feel sorry for the woman he has met. Have distanced myself from him since he told me. That is the further detail.

BumbleyBum · 27/11/2018 22:02

Have you started another thread asking if anyone’s had an affair? Your way of firing off questions is familiar Hmm

rumidumi · 27/11/2018 22:03

Yes I'd report that.

BumbleyBum · 27/11/2018 22:03

Seen your update, my apologies. You seem far more genuine than the other poster!
