To ask what you wear on Christmas Day?

Is it a formal affair where you wear your Sunday best or is it cosy pj’s all day long for you? A bit of both?

If I'm going to Dp's for dinner I wear a sparkly top & leggings, if I'm cooking dinner a pair of linen drawstring trousers & a nice top, if I'm at home on my own ( hopefully) then pjs & a fleecy hoodie.

madcatladyforever · 25/11/2018 12:18

PJ's all day but then I'm not going anywhere this year.

toastfiend · 25/11/2018 12:28

We dress up, but I always make sure it's something I have room to expand in as the day of eating progresses. Grin This year I'll be fairly heavily pregnant at Christmas, so clothes with room to expand shouldn't be too much of a trial, but something festive that doesn't make me look like a glittery tent might be more tricky!

We do presents after lunch and after that everyone normally gets into pjs or other comfy clothes. I love Christmas. Can't wait!

Upsy1981 · 25/11/2018 13:25

I normally wear a nice dress but not necessarily a new one. This year I bought a sparkly dress in the summer sale for a Christmas night out so I'll probably wear it again for Christmas Day. We are going to parents during the day but will get straight in PJs once home ready for cheese and Christmas telly.

NotCitrus · 25/11/2018 14:19

Jeans and warm jumper, and sparkly earrings if I remember. Smarter when we and both sets of parents meet up later, then NYE to dress up to the nines.

PietariKontio · 25/11/2018 14:23

Xmas jumpers and pjs, we don't tend to go out, so it's just warm and comfy stuff.

CalmConfident · 25/11/2018 14:33

Where are you getting these Christmas print dresses - I want one! Blush

PinguDance · 25/11/2018 14:36

We Dress up a bit - a bit like we were going to a birthday party. It’s nice for photos! Of course when we go for our afternoon walk you have to wear any jumper/hat/scarf you’ve been given and a paper hat

shouldidoitspoilt · 25/11/2018 14:37

I used to wear my clothes that Father Christmas got me

Now it's always a dress and tights no shoes

Knittink · 25/11/2018 14:43

We are normally away at family's houses. Always dressed, not super-smart but reasonably so. Dh, the dc (10&13) and I will be just us at home on Christmas Day for the first time ever this year. We'll certainly be dressed - I'd find Christmas Day in pyjamas a bit slobby and depressing tbh.

clowdyweewee · 25/11/2018 14:47

Something with an elastic waistband.

Ollivander84 · 25/11/2018 14:51

Uniform Grin I'll be working as a carer

Pinkprincess1978 · 25/11/2018 21:37

Usually dress nicely, do my hair and make up. Boxing Day is pj day for us.

Maelstrop · 25/11/2018 21:57

Used to be Sunday best because we went to Mass then round to family for dinner. These days, it's sweatshirts and walking gear to do horses/dogs.

Stephisaur · 25/11/2018 22:01

PJs in the morning and then a nice outfit for lunch.

Ninoo25 · 25/11/2018 22:06

We go to my Mum’s around the corner at around midday.
We open our presents, have breakfast and lounge around in PJs. Then we get ready at a leisurely pace (we have young kids so get up at an ungodly hour on Christmas Day).
We don’t buy new clothes especially for the day, but go dressed smart/casual. My girls like getting dressed up so they normally go in party clothes. When I was younger we used to get special Christmas Day clothes bought for us, but I think that might be because my parents were struggling for a bit so grandparents bought us clothes as well as gifts for Christmas (got given the clothes in advance to wear on Christmas Day). We haven’t continued that tradition with our kids as we just buy them clothes when they need them

Scardanelli · 25/11/2018 22:07

Just normal stuff (leggings and a long bum-covering jumper - I hate Christmas, so would not wear anything other than whatever I would normally wear). I always get dressed before breakfast, every day, and insist that the teenagers do the same when they're home from school (although their breakfast is significantly later than mine). I have a complete horror of hanging around in my nightie (don't possess pyjamas); I would feel unclean and unready for the day in nightwear. Though I accept that this is my problem.

bridgetreilly · 25/11/2018 22:30

I cannot fathom cooking and sitting down to eat Christmas dinner in pyjamas, even if I haven't had to leave the house. It's a celebration! Put some clothes on! Nice clothes!

StarsAndMoonlight · 25/11/2018 22:43

But pyjamas are nice!

Nice, clean, brand new Christmas pjs and then you can fall asleep on the sofa watching Dr Who.

Bliss.

Bigonesmallone3 · 25/11/2018 22:44

This year for the first time in years it will be my comfies 😊

Fevertree · 25/11/2018 22:45

Jamas although I will dress up Xmas eve for hosting family for our Christmas lunch and then church
