Just made scrambled eggs on toast (two eggs, no milk) and they barely featured on the second piece of toast. Is three eggs too greedy?

Usually two. I don't use milk or anything.

LakieLady · 21/11/2018 16:05

2 eggs per person and one for the pan, no milk, but plenty of butter, a little salt and black pepper.

Oysterbabe · 21/11/2018 16:07

I often put a squirt of brown sauce on top. #controvertial

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/11/2018 16:20

@Oysterbabe no I'm on the brown sauce train..

sazzle27 · 21/11/2018 16:22

3 large eggs, if I'm hungry or anticipating fewer meals that day/it's a late breakfast.. 4.

Made wih butter, no milk..

No shame here Grin

Megan2018 · 21/11/2018 16:27

I have bantams, so use 4 or 5 bantam eggs for 1 person. With butter only, never milk. Because the yolk is full size but the white is small you get very yellow and very rich and tasty scrambled egg. None of your insipid pale nonsense.

If we have to buy eggs in then it'd usually be 3 eggs per person, 2 if very large eggs.

I see no reason to be stingy with egg - but probably because we get a good 24 eggs or so laid a week so always trying to use them up.

SushiMonster · 21/11/2018 16:28

3 eggs for an adult if they are only having eggs on toast. Two if serving with bacon.

SushiMonster · 21/11/2018 16:29

Milk thins down the eggs and makes it LESS creamy than if you just use butter. One of the BBC myth buster programs proved it. So it must be true. :-)

Ploppymoodypants · 21/11/2018 16:31

2 eggs for 1 person, 3 eggs for 2 people, 4 for 3 people and so on.

Ploppymoodypants · 21/11/2018 16:32

Our are very large eggs from our own chickens mind you.

MrsJBaptiste · 21/11/2018 16:33

I have 2 scrambled eggs (no toast) every morning.

DH has 2 poached or 3 scrambled eggs most mornings.

We get through a lot of eggs in our house! 🍳🥚🍳🥚

SuffragettesStruggledForThis · 21/11/2018 16:39

I use 6 (usually ones labelled 'large') for scrambled eggs. I usually eat them without toast though, just as a meal by themselves. I'm shocked you consider 3 to be greedy, OP!

If I have boiled eggs, I have 2 or 3.

JustLurkingAway · 21/11/2018 17:03
  1. I want scrambled egg on toast nowSadGrin
longwayoff · 21/11/2018 17:18

A microwave? Said Lady Bracknell.

blueskiesandforests · 21/11/2018 17:24

longwayoff to be fair she had the only microwave in the village in the early 80s and was very thrilled with it. She had special plastic cake tins in which she baked rubber microwave cakes too, although the only other cake I've ever known her to bake is a Christmas cake (she can cook, but is opposed to sweet things). I think the microwave eggs were an odd early adopter (considering where she lived) quirk which stuck!

I eat scrambled eggs twice a week or more and would fear for my cholesterol level and waistline were I making them with butter instead of semi-skimmed milk. The amount of milk I use has half the calories and a lot less fat than the amount of butter I'd need to use. Plus I already have butter on my toast, I don't need more in the eggs!

ForalltheSaints · 22/11/2018 17:23

2 if it is for one person, more if more people.

unyummy4amummy · 22/11/2018 17:24

I don't eat them but my DP usually has 6 with butter no milk/water just to himself. DC already eating 2 each. Think I am going to have to start robbing banks at this rate Wink

ThereIsIron · 22/11/2018 17:30

2 large eggs, 1 slice of toast

ALongHardWinter · 22/11/2018 17:38

Depends on what I'm having it with. If it's on toast,I'd use 2 large,or 3 small eggs. If it was to have with a fry up (eg. bacon, hash browns, mushrooms and fried bread),I'd use one large,or 2 small eggs.

TeddyIsaHe · 22/11/2018 17:39

2 for breakfast, 3 for lunch or dinner.

lanbro · 22/11/2018 17:44

It's one of the most popular breakfast dishes in my cafe, 2 eggs on one large piece of toast for 1 person
