Gogglebox, the family who wear their shoes indoors

I like this family but I can’t help but wince when I see a plate full of biscuits on their foot rest surrounded by feet encased in trainers.

AIBU to think they should TAKE THEM OFF!

Sorry.

stylish crocs 😂😂😂😂

DexyMidnight · 21/11/2018 16:24

I assure you my crocs are very stylish Wink, and very sexy too. Drives DH wild!

LakieLady · 21/11/2018 17:02

Sadly Dave the dog had to be PTS recently

Oh no! I'm gutted, I bloody loved that dog. They must be devastated, they plainly adored him.

The family are among my Gogglebox favourites, along with the Sadiqis and Jenny & Lee. The sweary dad is bloody hilarious.

MaHeidsGouping · 21/11/2018 17:03

They still have Dave, he was on last weeks episode.

Heartofglass21 · 21/11/2018 17:44

Stylish crocs do not exist. Photos please.

Shoes on or off, who really cares? Vacuum cleaners are pretty efficient these days.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 21/11/2018 18:26

I always eye up their plate of treats, honest every time they're on screen the plate has something different on it!

They have gotten more extravagant as the series have gone on. But, they don’t seem to eat them anymore? I think they used to but now there is the same amount at the start as there is in the end.

tildaMa · 21/11/2018 18:37

Shoes off people - what do you do about going in and out to bins etc? Some evenings, I find myself endlessly schlepping out to empty my recycling bucket or kitchen bin. Or to the garage to get stuff. I don’t want the hassle of having to put shoes on and off all the time.

No garage so no problem with that.
Kitchen bins are big enough to only require emptying once a day.
For emergencies there are crocs by the kitchen door - large enough that I can put them on without removing slipper socks and very easy to clean if they get dirty/muddy.

Sarcelle · 21/11/2018 18:42

I love Dave, he's a big soppy lump.

I have never noticed their shoes! I hate seeing bare feet - Stephen and his mum often have their feel stretched out. And Danny Dyer on the Celeb version.

You empty the kitchen bin and recycling multiple times a day? How much waste do you produce?! As per a PP, there are a pair of easy to slip on/off shoes by the back door for bin trips etc. It’s no bother at all.

All our friends and us remove our shoes in our house and other peoples. I can’t comprehend trudging round my house in shoes or anyone else’s. It’s totally unhygienic.

Nearly47 · 22/11/2018 18:19

Never noticed their shoes but there was a couple,I think I cambridge, that always had a drink on their hand. Well the last was once watching TV with boots on! How can you watch TV with boots on?!

EdWinchester · 22/11/2018 18:28

I find people that ask for guests to remove their shoes uptight. Mind you, I only know one and she’s a complete fuss budget about everything. They had a party last Christmas and we all got dressed up and then had to spend the evening in our socks/tights. Not a good look. Everyone moaned about it in private.

I am always intrigued at the plate of crap this Gogglebox family always have in front of them. I wonder if they actually eat it.

joinedjustfordw · 22/11/2018 19:04

I know it's been 8 pages but no-one seems to have mentionionedcthis (please correct if I'm wrong) so
Fucksgiven I hope to the gods that you do not own a pet of any kind

TeknoGran · 22/11/2018 19:20

You need to be forever putting your shoes on and off. In aisian/Indian cultures they NEVER bring their shoes and shoe dirt in the house

happypoobum · 22/11/2018 19:33

I don't think I know anyone who wears shoes indoors Confused

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 22/11/2018 19:45

I never understand these shoes off in the house threads. Do you really expect guests to shuffle around in their stockinged feet? When you have guests for dinner do you welcome them wearing your slippers?

I popped in to see a friend recently and we were sitting in her kitchen having coffee when her husband came in and asked me if I could take my shoes off. I did think ‘wtf?’ to myself at the time but I didn’t want to be rude so I took them off. And then I had cold feet.

wtffgs2 · 22/11/2018 19:50

I stepped in dog poo yesterday. And am still traumatised

Really?

It is absolutely rank but "traumatised". I take my shoes off at home but never make visitors do the same because we have laminate floors downstairs.

X has a "no-shoes upstairs" rule - hasn't vacuumed or cleaned up there in years but - hey! no shoes!! Hmm

RockYourSocksOff · 22/11/2018 20:02

Again, it’s not so much the shoe on/off debate.

It’s watching the lovely plate full of nibbles surrounded by shoe treads. Either remove the nibbles or the shoes/trainers!

Apart from that I love the family and their dogs!

Re guests for dinner in stockinged feet.

As I’ve said previously, I have a no shoes house.

We have friends over often but it isn’t a formal affair, no candlelit soirées. Anyone coming for dinner or for the evening is a close friend and as such is generally dressed comfortably rather than in anything that needs shoes to ‘finish the outfit’. If, by some unlikely turn of events, we were to host a ‘dressed up’ dinner party, people would be welcome to keep their shoes on, if they preferred. Most of our friends/family are no shoes people anyway, so it is a moot point.

Hellsbells35 · 22/11/2018 20:29

Asking guests to take their shoes off is very crass. What if you have no socks on and don’t wish to expose your feet? I think this is from lower classes rather than upper ones.

Sidelook · 22/11/2018 20:30

Has anyone noticed the amount of people that spit in the street? Especially youngsters! There is no way that I would want spit on my shoes and carpet. We are one hundred percent a no shoes house, no matter who you are. Friend or foe, step no further in outdoor shoes than the front door mat! Urghhh makes me shudder the thought of dirty shoes on the carpet

bluebellsparklypants · 22/11/2018 20:33

Shoes off at the door and no where near nibbles!

KlutzyDraconequus · 22/11/2018 20:40

I think this is from lower classes rather than upper ones

You maybe right, the upper class would just have carpets cleaned often. One does ones at least bi monthly, a little fellow called Allan pops in with his fancy machine. He's the brother of Derek, the gardener.

MrsExpo · 22/11/2018 20:42

I really just don’t get this whole “ shoes on or off indoors” thing. I sometimes wear shoes indoors if they’re basically clean, but often take them off. We live in a rural area, own a dog and a horse and my footwear is often filthy from dealing with the animals, but equally often “clean” if I’ve been to Saino’s for the shopping.

Is it worse to have shoes near a plate of biscuits, or dirty socks/sweaty feet or even bare feet (which might not have been washed .... )?

masterandmargarita · 22/11/2018 21:29

I'm a shoes on person. Also got a very strong immune system.
