I've made my husband nduja, bacon and mushroom pasta sauce but I'm going to have toast for dinner. With marmite. Yay me

I had cheese and marmite on toast for dinner last night. Totally reasonable

TwoDrifters · 19/11/2018 20:56

I ordered Marmite on toast with a cup of tea in a London cafe not too long ago. The girl behind the counter was of indeterminate Eastern European ethnicity and I think she thought it was akin to Nutella or the like. This is what I was served. Fortunately I adore Marmite and happily devoured it but I can imagine many may not have been quite so keen! Grin

My mother and I always say you have to like marmite to be able to serve it properly.

Tomorrow's dinner will be marmite toast... with cheese. Boom! No tedium

My default comfort supper is poached egg on marmite toast. Or soft boiled egg and marmite soldiers. Or just the marmite toast.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 19/11/2018 21:04

Why join in the conversation if you find it tedious? Weird. Not unreasonable at all OP I often find food like that far more satisfying than a proper dinner, enjoy!

walke · 19/11/2018 21:06

Views on taramasalata? With toasted white pitta. For me it's a perfectly reasonable dinner

YY to marmite on toast for dinner. I often have toast with various things for lunch. I'd prefer it for dinner, but my family wouldn't be so happy!

Taramasalata is food of the gods. Definitely dinner food, but you do need curly lettuce with it.

walke · 19/11/2018 21:17

@Cuzcothellama Lettuce? Fcuking lettuce?

If the thread is tedious go and find some drama ... there's lots here !!
Leave us to enjoy our toast.

SewButtons · 19/11/2018 21:19

Yabvu because I just used the last of the bread for my peanut butter toast dinner but now I wish I’d had marmite instead. It’s a toast for dinner kind of day I think.

@SewButtons Should have had marmite for main and PB for pudding.

I had Marmite and egg on toast for tea on Saturday! I eat egg on toast quite a lot but for some reason I just fancied Marmite as well. Mmmmmm.

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/11/2018 21:28

walke now you're talking! I love a tub of taramasalata and pitta bread

walke · 19/11/2018 21:30

@raisedbyguineapigs You were obviously raised by very sophisticated guinea pigs

Oh yes they much prefer a bit of Taramasalata to marmite. They'd have it with lettuce though and lots of it...

Ollivander84 · 19/11/2018 21:35

I had rice pudding and jam

Alicatz66 · 19/11/2018 21:36

walke I think "spread marmz, not misery" will be my winter mantra !

walke · 19/11/2018 21:38

We should all chant together like some mental marmite munching cult

I had toast and marmite tonight too!

Andromeida59 · 19/11/2018 21:39

You haven't lived until you've had potato waffles with melted cheese and marmite. It's often my supper when I can't be bothered cooking.

TheHorseOnSeventhAvenue · 19/11/2018 21:39

Yesterday I had eggy bread with marmite for brunch.

For the vegans who cannot do Lurpak - try avocado and marmite on toast!

Gillian1980 · 19/11/2018 21:40

walke · 19/11/2018 21:41

I also finished late tonight and had three slices of real buttered toast with a mug of tea (and a Tunnocks tea cake).
