What with it being CIN and May having to replace cabinet ministers again, I'm worried that this isn't being more widely reported.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/nov/16/uk-austerity-has-inflicted-great-misery-on-citizens-un-says

For all the government say that Universal Credit is working to get people back into work, the UN reporter on extreme poverty and human rights finds that a fifth of the UK population is living in poverty now.

OP posts:
Gingerrogered · 17/11/2018 19:49

Remember the UN is an organisation that tolerated widespread rape and sexual abuse by it's staff whilst lecturing countries about the same thing.

Corrupt raping, sexually abusing money grabbing twats.

lljkk · 17/11/2018 19:55

Relentless strategy to try to destroy our faith in institutions. Such is the modern way. :(

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 20:11

Gingerogered your post at 19.46 is disabilist. It is not my mobility scooter It is DHs He is nearly 70.

So get your fucking facts right Im not disabled my pensioner husband (the ex engineer is) oh and last time i checked the state pension is taxed.

And Mob. scooters are not highly flammable and has been explained on here.

Fireworks and petrol cans being stored are much more so yet people get a free pass to do that whether home owner or renting.

I hope when you are old and infirm you are treated in just as shit a way.

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 20:13

sharing what the disabilist posted again. I mean what the fuck do you do with this.

" Gingerrogered Sat 17-Nov-18 19:46:45

Yes, Helena who would moan about how substandard all her free stuff was even if she was given a free mansion and a paid up Chanel and Fortnums account.

Helena who posts unsourced left wing propaganda with no credible provenance. That Helena?

And why do you think that anything from one of self confessed most partisan posters on here is reliable?

That Helena what cries about Grenfell and pretends she cares but says she doesn't give a shit if her neighbours die from a fire caused by an electrical fault from her highly flammable motor scooter because it would inconvenience her to walk a few yards to an outside store?

That Helena, you think she is reliable? Lol. :/ "

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 20:15

if they are so highly flammable why are they parked in the arndale to charge OVERNIGHT risking all that stock.

disabilists and racists ...............neither group has two brain cells to rub together.

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 20:16

some of the posts on this thread explain mobility scooter safety.

Justanotherlurker · 17/11/2018 20:22

Not sure why you did a sad face, it's just the same as Corbyn supporters not accepting reports from the IFS, Banks etc about how Corbyn would trash the economy, or how you look into the background of who has produced reports on things that go against your beliefs (which i have seen you do).

If this thread is wanting to decend into "muh evil tories" just admit it, but don't try and pretend its based on sound economic thinking.

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 20:27

oh and DH can barely walk due to COPD

And we were not offered a shed to start with..............we were just told to either get rid of the scooter or they would take it and destroy it and before the disabilist starts up again........we have screenshots.

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 20:29

and yet my skunk smoking neighbour can store a jerry can under the stairs with no comeback.................so yes its disabilism.

KingPrawnBalls · 17/11/2018 20:30

Crawl back under your stone Ginger you horrible person. I've reported your attack on Helena

Justanotherlurker · 17/11/2018 20:30

Plus a report that compares UK austerity to China's one child policy and ignores "austerity" as an economic strategy that pretty much everyone agrees with internationally as "radical social engineering" deserves to be looked into.

And anyone lapping this up to "fight the system" are just as culpable of our political landscape turning to shit as the daily mail readers.

Tanith · 17/11/2018 21:34

It's not just the UN reporting this, though:

www.endchildpoverty.org.uk/end-child-poverty-joins-call-for-government-to-put-children-at-the-heart-of-the-budget/

www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/children-in-need-poverty-report-15427978

More than 21,000 children in Surrey living in poverty, according to the local paper. We all know Surrey's MPs. They include Michael Gove, Jeremy Hunt and Philip Hammond.

I attended a Harvest service recently where the Dean of Guildford said that the number of food banks had increased from a handful to over 50 in her diocese during her tenure.
Jeremy Hunt, over a similar period, increased his wealth by over £15million.

Oh, end Child Poverty? The organisation which promotes poverty for pensioners? The organisation which actively promotes giving pensioners less money so that they can manipulate the figures to say that less children are in poverty? The organisation which promotes poverty for single people and pensioners because it makes their figures look good?

Go and have a look at how 'End Child Poverty' calculate who is in poverty. It's eye opening. Their purpose is not to make families with children richer, it's to make families without children poorer.

ReanimatedSGB · 17/11/2018 22:10

Again, the problem is wealth hoarding. Not the disabled, not immigrants, not single parents, but that tiny minority who extract wealth from the economy and stack it up in tax-dodging offshore accounts. If the very rich spent their money, even if it was on diamond-plated helicopters, the money would be going back into the economy and circulating. The privatisation craze of the late 80s/90s was economically unsound, and its continuation is not about economics but about allowing a few people to steal everything they can get their hands on from the state.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/11/2018 22:39

I was not quoting a fact.
My opinion from conversations with people I know.
When is an opinion a fact?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/11/2018 22:42

It's a fact that we have foodbanks in this country.
The general opinion is that this shouldn't be case.

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 22:42

wow disabilism and libel.

Justanotherlurker · 17/11/2018 22:43

@ReanimatedSGB

Putting up a strawman to paint it in simplistic terms ignores the the fact its a global crash and there are many contributing factors, including some of which you bolded.

The fact we are in a situation where we have the most left wing shadow cabinet in decades not wanting to undo many of the benefit restrictions and the leader being a lifelong euro skeptic publicly saying FOM harms british workers and is not a fan of fair competition directive shows that it is far more nuanced than what you make it out to be.

There is a reason why global interest rates are at practically 0, and it wasn't just to bail out the bankers or can be boiled down to "muh evil tories"

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/11/2018 22:45

Posted too quickly:
Should read That this should not have to be the case.

lljkk · 17/11/2018 22:48

Gosh, that was well-personal, JAL. Noted.
UN is supposed to be above politics. Some people like to politicise it.

Gingerrogered · 17/11/2018 22:48

SGB this is true. It has happened before in history. And do you know what solved it?

War. Every time

Not Communism, not Socialism, not Capitalism. War.

The situation we are in now is just like it was before WWI. Before WWI we were in exactly the same situation with rich people holding all the wealth and poor people in a terrible situation.

Now I don't know about anybody else, but I don't want to buy economic stability with the blood of other people's children. I'd rather die.

But socialism and communism has failed. Capitalism has failed. We need to find something new. Something moderate. Something that reallocates wealth without giving it to the undeserving poor. Something that genuinely allows us to pay in with the knowledge the safety net will be there for us when we need it without rewarding piss takers.

I agree entirely that the problem is wealth hoarding. But the left wing is the problem. They take money off the super rich in huge amounts every year in return for ignoring the problem. Karl Marx would turn in his grave at the shitbag tools for the wealthy who pass for the left wing these days. With their divide and conquer identity politics. Ick.

Gingerrogered · 17/11/2018 22:51

UN is supposed to be above politics. Some people like to politicise it.

They politicise themselves. They are a globalist cheerleaders.

lljkk · 17/11/2018 22:54

So Ginger, just wondering. What do you support & like? Which political leaders are institutions do you support?

Gingerrogered · 17/11/2018 22:56

None of them. My political idols are the Labour government ministers in the late 1940s.
