For me, Malory Towers. I still love those books and always enjoy reading about the outdoor pool, Gwendoline's misdemeanours, and Mamzelle's eccentricities.

I love the idea of Whyteleaf school but in all honesty I think it would have been too twee for me and I would have been kicked off to St Trinian's!!

ScreamingValenta · 16/11/2018 22:15

I love the idea of Whyteleaf school

I could never have stuck the sanctimonious school meetings, with that pompous William telling you whether or not you could have extra money from the money box.

Jungfraujoch · 16/11/2018 22:19

Malory Towers! Best school ever!!

Tinuviel · 16/11/2018 22:19

I have found my people!! Chalet School for me, although I do like the Dimsie books and the Farm School. I also loved 'Masha' but the idea of being at school for 9 years without going home at all is a bit extreme!

Chalet School furthered my enthusiasm for languages and I eventually became a languages teacher. The pupils I taught were significantly less well-behaved/enthusiastic than the Chalet School pupils though.

Tinuviel · 16/11/2018 22:19

And I have also visited Pertisau (Briesau in the books) and walked under the 'Dripping Rock' on the path to Geisalm!

Canshopwillshop · 16/11/2018 22:20

Malory Towers or St Claire’s

Raaaaaah · 16/11/2018 22:26

Mallory towers-that pool and the horses. I’m reading them to DD at the moment and they really are a harsh bunch and pretty mean. I do a bit of editing.
I had completely forgotten about Trebizon but I loved those books. Ah, I was so desperate to go to a boarding school.

Fifthtimelucky · 16/11/2018 22:27

Linbury Court. Given my age (late 50s) it's probably surprising that I never read any of the Malory Towers, St Claire's or Chalet School books. I loved Jennings though.

And Hogwarts, obviously.

TufVoyaging · 16/11/2018 22:29

At various points in life: Malory Towers, Sweet Valley High and Jilly Cooper's Bagely Hall

JaimeLannister · 16/11/2018 22:31

Whyteleafe School from the Blyton Naughtiest Girl books

Yes! I loved these books. I would have helped in the garden and had some rabbits. Not sure about some of the rules though, only 6 items allowed on a dressing table? Rubbish!

And Hogwarts of course. As a Hufflepuff.

bridgetreilly · 16/11/2018 22:36

Kingscote. Although, tbh, it wasn't all that different from my actual boarding school.

I love the idea of Hogwarts, but I couldn't have coped with the arbitrary enforcement/non-enforcement of rules. Or, you know, the takeover by Death Eaters.

bridgetreilly · 16/11/2018 22:40

Ooh or the school in What Katy Did At School - just because it sounds so much fun getting their giant Christmas boxes from home.

Yes, but bath time was grim.

Tinuviel · 16/11/2018 22:44

Didn't they have to write down as much as they could remember from the sermon at church every week when Miss Nipson was in charge at Katy's school?

That can't have taken long!!

HippyChickMama · 16/11/2018 22:47

Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches

BertrandRussell · 16/11/2018 22:49

Sad there's so few potential Kingscote girls here. Love the idea that we'd be expected to do proper work, and have proper scary teachers.

TarquinGyrfalcon · 16/11/2018 22:56

Kingscote for me.
I’m swayed by Noah’s Ark

Balloondog · 16/11/2018 23:00

Chalet School without a doubt (largely for the 'feather beds of whipped cream' on pretty much everything!)

ScreamingValenta · 16/11/2018 23:01

the school in What Katy Did At School

Nooo! After Mrs Florence blamed Katy for sending that note, I could never go there. That was ridiculous! The note referred to something that had happened the previous term, before Katy was even at the school. The most cursory analysis would have shown it was a forgery. And the 'pudding' Mrs Nipson made them eat sounds foul.

ChewyLouie · 16/11/2018 23:04

Malory Towers as Darrell Rivers. Jennings as me ( for the tuck shopSmile )

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/11/2018 23:04

Bertrand I'd love to be taught by Miss Cromwell

ScreamingValenta · 16/11/2018 23:06

Bertrand and Emma

Maths is not my strong point. Crommie would chew me up into tiny pieces Sad. I think I'd like Miss Ferguson, though.

Deadbudgie · 16/11/2018 23:09

Got to be Malory towers but hated sports- not sureid fit in well

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 16/11/2018 23:12

I never fancied Bagley Hall or Upland House in Jilly Cooper, they seem a bit too cool for me!

Whyteleafe always filled me with horror, far too much emphasis on what's yours is mine. Whether you like it or not.

The Katy school is called Hillsover I think? Or "The Nunnery" I always quite fancied it in spite of the frozen water! It seemed rather fun! I draw the line at Miss Minchins though. "A Little Princess" gave me nightmares about being orphaned. I wore a very green school uniform at the time, had a scary form mistress and had older parents so despite some of the luxuries the girls had, it tapped into some primal fear!

MartaHallard · 16/11/2018 23:18

I'd love to be taught by Miss Cromwell

Who would win in a face-off between Miss Cromwell, Miss Wilson and Professor MacGonagall? Assuming magic wasn't allowed?

I think I'd prefer Springdale, DFB's other boarding school, over the Jane Willard.

Not the Abbey School, you were no-one if you weren't in with the Abbey crowd.

Onestep2 · 16/11/2018 23:30

Hogwarts..... what are these other muggle schools you are suggesting? 😂
