Things that give you the willies

Inspired by another thread, what are things that give you the willies?

My biggest one is houseboats.

desperately hoping other people get the willies too

Another one for the ocean. I’ll never understand people that can jump of the side of a boat on the open water for a swim. Physically can’t imagine anything worse. Also, seagulls. Just the look of them. They all look like they’d murder you

InProgress · 15/11/2018 22:33

Elf on the shelf (I'm not even joking - creepy horrid things)

Crunchymum · 15/11/2018 22:34

Having my BP taken (feeling my blood pumping through me makes me feel physically sick)
Heartbeats and pulses (I can't even take my own pulse)
Hiccups (baby hiccuping whilst pregnant was worse than when I have them myself. I would have to wriggle and move as to dull the sensation of something inside me hiccuping!!)

All mine seem to have a common link....

I hate the feeling of wearing nail varnish, it's like my nails can't breathe.

Fucking toe socks and how they feel between your toes. So glad these aren't really a thing anymore.

Those open toed pool shoes that some men wear and you can see their horrible hairy man toes.

WhingyNinja · 15/11/2018 22:35

Ontheboardwalk just reading your sentence and then imagining falling off the earth has made me go all funny!

llangennith · 15/11/2018 22:35

Hanging baskets used to really give me the willies. No idea why and my DDs thought it hilarious. I found all those flowery things struggling to escape obscene. Yes I used the word obscene. Bizarre I know. I got over it about 10 years ago and can now look at a flower-filled hanging basket without emotion.

Chimneys on hospitals

TheVanguardSix · 15/11/2018 22:36

Free standing water tanks.
Blankets of mist on the ground.
Flashing amber lights throughout the wee hours.
Level crossings.
Turbulence on an aircraft.
Subways/underpasses.

StormcloakNord · 15/11/2018 22:37

Absolutely nothing on this thread gives me any sort of willies/heebie jeebies

But, for some reason gag I can't stand the thought of the tips of your fingers bending backwards. Argh, I'm dry heaving. I feel sick. Like people who have the weird thumb thing where it bends back. Boke.

Saracen · 15/11/2018 22:37

@Ontheboardwalk: "We're not looking up at the sky, we are gazing down at space with only gravity keeping us on the earths surface..."

Yes. It is definitely a mistake to lie on your back looking up at the stars. Once you realise they are below you rather that above you, and that gravity is a matter of faith, it is very hard to stop clutching handfuls of grass to prevent yourself falling off the earth.

IceBearRocks · 15/11/2018 22:38

Wobbly teeth... severely disabled DS9 has very very wibbly wobbly front teeth but as he's Gastrostomy fed...nothing makes them budge !!!!

BettyDuMonde · 15/11/2018 22:38

Sand paper/emery boards.

And pretty much anything that was featured on one of those public safety awareness ads in the 1980s, so, escalators, pylons, floating out to sea on a lilo, sparklers etc, etc.

LanaorAna2 · 15/11/2018 22:39

Fly eggs.
Matt Lucas.

puzzledlady · 15/11/2018 22:39

ghosts.

Jent13c · 15/11/2018 22:41

Nipples. Funnily enough when I was breastfeeding my son they didn't bother me but before baby and since weaning I cant even look at them never mind a monthly check.

Outside steep stairways. My city has a few of these and I run past them everytime in case someone comes up and pushes me straight down them.

danni0509 · 15/11/2018 22:41

Penne pasta when you boil it in a pan and it's all clumped together in the middle of the pan half way through, makes me feel so Confused having to stir it and un clump it all.

Ontheboardwalk · 15/11/2018 22:42

Sorry Whingy

Saracen agree best not think about it when looking at the stars

anxietygirl76 · 15/11/2018 22:44

Sprouty potatoes

footballmum · 15/11/2018 22:44

Also, curious about trypophobia. Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Can google it and feel nothing. But those who are affected-does it mean you can’t eat crumpets? If so you have my condolences. Crumpets are one of my favourite foods!

danni0509 · 15/11/2018 22:44

Heat wave above a crematorium,

My gran died & was cremated.

Next day I went back to look at the laid out flowers round the back of the building and looked to my right and above the building there was that heat wave you get when it is hot.

Wasn't a hot day, I left shortly after.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 15/11/2018 22:45

Anything to do with deep water, including virtual deep water.

VR deep sea exploration was unnerving especially with the huge freaking whale.

And if its is associated with anything industrial then it is game over, so going to Kew Steam museum and staring into the pit of water with a big beam engine going was fun.

It's a family thing - my bro sent me a video of him being brave and swimming near the propeller of a cruise ship in GTA.Grin
