Inspired by another thread, what are things that give you the willies?

My biggest one is houseboats.

desperately hoping other people get the willies too

@VenusClapTrap I get you! Georgia to me is that sort of dark orangey wet mud colour, but Georgina is a light mustard.

Magenta46 · 16/11/2018 09:50

Flesh coloured underwear.

Crazyladee · 16/11/2018 09:52

Those really old public toilets where the cistern is suspended high up on the wall and the chain pull is really long with a wooden pull thing on the end.. My Nan had one in her outside yard and I was terrified of it

When you are tuning your TV in or searching for channels and you get white noise. I keep thinking that I am going to hear a ghostly voice and get tuned into something or somebody that shouldn't be there.

Ironfloor269 · 16/11/2018 09:56

Also, Shenouks (so?).

Madmarchpear · 16/11/2018 10:06

That road side wicker man thing on the way to Cornwall. I can't look at him and tell my daughters to close their eyes too.

Madmarchpear · 16/11/2018 10:07

I get that old fashion pull chain toilet thing too. My mum would wee herself rather than sit on a black toilet seat.

Cautionsharpblade · 16/11/2018 10:28

@longwayoff apparently they absolutely stink too. Hope that helps Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 16/11/2018 10:29

Flickering florescent lights scare me, especially in an empty, multi-level car park which I also find quite creepy.

If there's a flickering florescent light in a movie nothing good ever happens, in fact it makes it almost certain that the zombie is just around a corner or behind a van.

thighofrelief · 16/11/2018 10:36

Wow would love to know how my name tastes! Sorry your tastes bad.

thighofrelief · 16/11/2018 10:46

Concrete dividers on dual carriageways I'm scared they will hypnotise me into crashing into them.

My sister is terrified of balloons and I am afraid I couldn't resist putting balloons on her bed as a kid!

longwayoff · 16/11/2018 10:49

Madmarch, thanks for that although I've no plans to get close enough to find out for myself.

Babybearsporij · 16/11/2018 10:57

I hate electricity pylons. They proper freak me out with their spooky shapes & crackly noises. If I have to walk or run past them or under them, I sprint and pray!

I also hate hate hate the feeling of my hair blowing in my face!

Spankyoumuchly · 16/11/2018 11:00

China faced dolls. I hate the way they stare at me.
Lotus flower seed pods and cooked quinoa the seeds and germ look like little worms.
Eye balls. I don't know why. I have a condition with my eyes that I need the pressure taken with a thing that touches my eye ball.😱That's me on the inside when they do it.

Isshebeingserious · 16/11/2018 11:00

Georgina is fine by the way - there is a hint of lemon in there that makes it ok.

Ironically that’s my name

putthespoondown · 16/11/2018 11:02

Barnacles, just the thought of them makes me uneasy!

spannablue · 16/11/2018 11:06

Seconded for nuclear cooling towers and slurry pits.

The word 'egg'.
Drunk people.
Maggots.
Okra.

EdithBouvier · 16/11/2018 11:13

I had no idea there was a name for when you think of words and names and they make you think of a food or flavour etc. I've had that my whole life and just thought i was weird! Mind blown.

andontheshipsatsea · 16/11/2018 11:22

The plug chain if the plug has come off,
My ankles touching,
My heartbeat,
The library where I work when the lights go off automatically when there's no one there,
Long earrings,
Necklaces on skin,
Lipstick marks on glasses/cups,
Toilets in old buildings, especially pubs,
TV cooks who wear rings and bracelets whilst making the food.

Miggeldy · 16/11/2018 11:23

Pretty much all insects.
Urgh.

girlwithadragontattoo · 16/11/2018 11:25

The ocean and really high bridges that have 2 or more driving lanes. Even worse if the bridge is going over open water over a long distance

Littleredhouse · 16/11/2018 11:36

Slugs. Or anything that resembles slugs. Like cooked slimy mushrooms. Also aubergenes. There is something about the look of them that makes me shudder

LucieMorningstar · 16/11/2018 11:44

Deep water and being stuck down the side of a huge boat in deep water. I’m also not keen on swimming pools with like a dolphin tiled in to the floor of the pool. I also don’t like papers (I’m ok with magazines). I think they are disgusting and smell vile.

cragfastsheep · 16/11/2018 11:49

Another votes for holes and the word cluster. Absolutely hate them. Three other family members also have this

howdyholdthedoody · 16/11/2018 12:03

The noise of a metal knife tapping on a glass or granite worktop saver 😖 absolutely goes through me, sets my teeth on edge.
Knives and forks screeching on a plate 😬😬😬

thighofrelief · 16/11/2018 12:33

What does Jane taste like? I think Turkish delight would sum me up!

Terrified of being buried alive even after I'm dead and have asked my adult DC to swear they will cremate me! They said no they want to visit me!
