And invite you to join me?
What are you brilliant at, nothing is too trivial.
What can you do exceptionally well?

I make very good gravy! Don't know why because my cooking isn't good but my gravy and sauces always come out well Confused

I can close my eyes and choose what face I want to see if I think of a loved one for example. I can change their expressions. then I can morph their face into the next person I want to remember. The detail is disturbing.
Anyone else?
I can't draw btw Confused

winterhappiness · 20/11/2018 03:42

@Thewheelsarefallingoff the same reason!- that's so cool! 😁 I've never actually met / spoken to anyone who can do it too! I've only read on the internet that other people can do it too!

my nightmare used to really upset / scare me. I absolutely hated it. I can't remember how long I actually had it recurring , but it felt like it went on for a year or two! And I was very young, maybe 4 ish.

I'm so thankful to be able to stop nightmares now. In recent years I've even been to figure out how to wake myself up. I can go from being in a deep deep sleep to fully waking up. It's pretty tough, and it takes a few mins, but it's possible! I use it as a last resort those few times I can't change my dream how I want.

On the other side, I love being able to dream about anything I want 😁

primoestate · 20/11/2018 04:24

I am brilliant at cooking a roast dinner. Always asked how I make my roast potatoes and gravy.
And if you need to know some useless trivia or song titles I'm your girl.

DameSquashalot · 20/11/2018 06:23

@Jozen your vein skill is definitely worth a boast. I have small veins and I have come across very few HCPs with your skills. There seems to be more of you in recent years, which is pleasing. 😊

MsSquiz · 20/11/2018 07:57

@meladeso it's not so much a recipe as a little addition that I copied from my DM.

Keep the potatoes quite large so they don't disintegrate while par boiling.
Par boil for 15 mins in salted water while pre hearing the oven & oil (200 for a fan oven)
I use crisp and dry and usually have it about 1cm deep in the dish
Once par boiled, drain and leave them to dry off for a few mins to get rid of excess water

trick
I then season them using gravy granules (I use bisto best as it comes in different meat flavours to go with whatever meat we are having) eg. If we are having them with chicken I would use half a tsp of chicken bisto best, black pepper, pinch of thyme (sometimes add in smoked paprika, celery salt, garlic salt - I just mix it up)

Then add the potatoes into the boiling oil, give them a little shake around and sprinkle the seasoning over all of them
Into the oven for 35-45 mins depending on how browned you like your roasties. (They will be crispy after 35 mins.

Let me know if you give it a go Smile

I'm great at learning songs. A couple of listens and I can sing along, and I'll know it forever. Drives my family crazy that, 3 notes into a song, I'll say, "Oh, this is suchandsuch, by suchandsuch!" Or "I sang this song in youth choir when I was 8!" and am still note-perfect. My mum is the complete opposite. She literally knows nursery rhymes, a few Christmas carols and a couple of hymns from her own primary school days. She doesn't get how I could possibly know SO MANY.

I'm also a great cook. I wouldn't win MasterChef, because I'm not THAT interested in cooking, but I've yet to make anything that wasn't delicious. My sister says she likes my cooking, and to impress her, it must be good.

thefishwhocouldwish · 20/11/2018 08:17

Reading very quickly
Spelling
Remembering trivia, both facts and images e.g. logos
Organising
Making 30 small children do what I want them to do all at once (or 300 if whole school assembly)
Training others

People seem to tell me stuff too, even when I've only known them a short time

If anyone here has perfected an egg-free Yorkshire pudding recipe, please share!

WellGoshDarnIt · 20/11/2018 08:23

I can stick both fingers in my mouth and whistle loud enough to summon a wayward dog or horse.
I am excellent at remembering random music and entertainment trivia - even from donkeys years ago. Currently trying to pluck up the courage to have a crack at Popmaster.

ralfeesmum · 20/11/2018 10:36

I tackle the "nasties" like picking up those spiders with the tiny bodies but massive long, long legs, woodlice, earwigs, snails and (ugh!) slugs and deposit them in the garden - no rubber gloves either.

Snowflakes!

NumNums96 · 20/11/2018 10:48

I have a brilliant memory for dates and times.
I'm a pretty good baker.
I'm very flexible (thanks, double joints!)

Mackymacmacface · 20/11/2018 12:58

Really good at unknotting knots and whistling. I can whistle both blowing in and out, so much like a didgeridoo player, the whistle tune could be unending.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 20/11/2018 13:06

My DD is not normal at all Grin according to her piano teacher!

Should add that Teacher is not a native English speaker and meant it kindly.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 20/11/2018 13:50

I’m good at crochet, and can figure out most patterns regardless of US vs UK terminology.
I’m also good at anagrams.

Ngaio2 · 20/11/2018 14:21

I have ear for English grammar and have always instinctively known what is correct—- a great advantage when studying English and law.
Good communicator.
Good at lateral thinking and solving problems.
Able to control bad dreams to a point — self taught as a child and wish I knew how to enhance this ability

SharkBrilliant · 20/11/2018 16:45

I always know the word a person is trying to think of... vocabulary is my superpower Grin

onegiftedgal · 20/11/2018 19:33

I am exceptionally intuitive/ clairvoyant/ a white witch if you like. I try to pretend I'm not as it can make life unbearable - knowing what is happening to someone, how they are feeling, how they feel about me, what will happen to them, future events. I hold a power over people, ie, if they are bad people (do wrong to me) then bad things happen to them but only when I give the go ahead if that makes sense. Only my husband knows as I'm fully aware that this would scare people. He found out when I woke up suddenly 2 minutes before my waters broke with our first child and asked into thin air 'is the baby coming now?' All of the items in the room started rocking as an affirmative - moses basket, cot etc. I don't know if he was more concerned with what he'd just witnessed or the impending birth! ☺

medusa83 · 20/11/2018 20:25

Such excellent strengths! I am very jealous of you all.

I can learn large amounts of information very, very quickly when I am paying 'super attention' to it. A textbook in a few hours or 2 year courses in an evening (think several GCSE /an A level or a university module). If you start a sentence once I've read a book, I can finish it. The problem is the information only lasts for a few days, then it is gone forever. My recall over the long term is dire, and I even forget what I'm watching on TV during the ads if I'm not paying 'super attention' to it.

medusa83 · 20/11/2018 20:26

*also known as cramming due to extreme laziness

foodenvy · 20/11/2018 23:46

I have a really good eye for detail and I’m good at organising things neatly and efficiently.

I also make fab roast potatoes.
This is a good thread 😊

Branleuse · 21/11/2018 00:12

mokapot · 21/11/2018 01:44

I make the best boiled water ever

NaiceShoes · 21/11/2018 01:53

I am smarter than the majority of people. It is irritating but also quite satisfying. Luckily my partner is too. My bad days are because most people are so dumb/inept. Luckily I am learning to accept it for what it is.

MissMisery · 21/11/2018 14:34

Throwing things accurately.
Once got banned from a coconut shy because I was cleaning them out!

Mushroomsarehorrible · 21/11/2018 15:35

At my recent hygienist appointment I was told I have ‘immaculate dental hygiene’ 😇😁

user1468348545 · 21/11/2018 16:20

Baking. Don't know where it came from but decided to make a cake one day and everyone was super impressed and said I was a natural. From then on I just experimented and found I could tweak recipes etc and have no disasters etc.

Would love to get into it as a career one day!!
