To think we have returned to the dark ages? Pregnant women killed with a crossbow

I just don't have the words, knife crime is vicious and horrific but using crossbows to kill a pregnant woman is just so beyond anything that I could express:

I know we mustn’t get too hung up on the race issue, but unfortunately you can’t ignore the fact the murdered woman was born and raised Hindu, and converted to Islam relatively recently in order to marry her second husband. That would have been a catastrophically big deal within her family, which I’m guessing is very religious/traditional since they married her off at 16.

Cwenthryth · 14/11/2018 12:50

Very mixed emotion as this thread is talking about a ghastly killing of a pregnant woman, but then I’ve just actually laughed out loud at “Anglo Saxon”. Perhaps my family is more murderous then, we came over in the Norman invasion. Hmm anyway - can we stop with the blatant racism thanks, this family’s tragedy is not your excuse to be hateful online. These are real people, have some respect.

I’d like to say that news of this killing is shocking. But it’s actually not, and that is shocking.

TheQueef · 14/11/2018 12:57

I'm inclined to agree that he'd given thought and planned to kill unborn baby too.
Crossbows aren't that common and knives aplenty. Crossbow bolts are longer and more powerful.

I'm happy to believe this murderous cunt had planned for the baby as well.

Orlande · 14/11/2018 12:58

I think "abusive ex murders woman" is a story that transcends all ethnic or religious categories.

Wordthe · 14/11/2018 13:13

The crossbow brings with it associations with hunting and sport which make this murder particularly horrific

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2018 13:26

"I know we mustn’t get too hung up on the race issue, but unfortunately you can’t ignore the fact the murdered woman was born and raised Hindu, and converted to Islam relatively recently in order to marry her second husband."

You know- I find it quite easy to ignore that.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 14/11/2018 13:35

Me too Bertrand

If we look at the stats murdering ex cunts seems to come from every race and class

The religion is non issue
The men murdering is the the issue

Fuck me

  • I started another thread to say this but some news literally shakes you to the core

Weirdly I think off the NHS staff - how utterly horrific for them - how the ambulance staff and surgeon must have felt

Her family’s pain is impossible

Angry 😡

Haworthia · 14/11/2018 13:38

Acknowledging the religious angle to this murder doesn’t mean you are excusing or justifying the murder. Men feel like they can kill women for all kinds of spurious reasons, but even more so in very patriarchal cultures.

Seniorschoolmum · 14/11/2018 13:40

Regardless of his racial background, that man has totalled fucked-up values and isn’t fit to be part of normal society.

Just hope he gets a full life term.

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2018 13:52

"Acknowledging the religious angle to this murder doesn’t mean you are excusing or justifying the murdeR"

How do you know religion was involved at all? Do you ask about the religion of all the other women murdered by their partner or ex partner? And even if religion is involved, what difference does it make?

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 14/11/2018 13:56

It’s because he was a psycho sociopathic murdering cunt who saw his ex wife had moved on

Heavily pregnant woman is murdered in front of her husband and 5 children. Someone comes along to suggest that it’s her fault for her religious beliefs. Hmm Angry

Because women shouldn’t be allowed freedom of religion. You know, in case it upsets men . And if you upset a man you deserve everything you get.

wrenika · 14/11/2018 14:13

I don't think this is a return to the dark ages. Someone has killed someone else...something which happens depressingly often. The weapon choice is novel but that doesn't add or detract from the crime itself. The fact she's was a woman and mother is neither here nor there. Nobody should be murdered.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 14/11/2018 14:25

It is just heartbreakingly tragic. The quote from her husband made me desperately sad, along the lines of feeling that she had taken a shot meant for him. The poor family. What an absolute stone cold bastard the killer is.

Liminalstate · 14/11/2018 14:33

I've just donated to Womens Aid in memory of Sana. It's a small gesture but the only one I can think of in response to this murder. I feel broken and angry at this news, a weeping Fury. Like other posters I think he planned to take out both Sana and her unborn child. He has traumatized his own children. HIS OWN CHILDREN in order to do this. This says everything about his sense of narcissitic entitlement and how it overides any other human consideration in his mind. I am at a loss-how do we counter this as a society?

^^ exactly this

SlowlyShrinking · 14/11/2018 14:42

More male violence. Name the problem. We (we as in society) need to start talking about why males are so much more violent than females. Everyone in society, men, women and children are suffering from the results of male violence, which seems to be accepted as inevitable. I’d like to think that men are actually capable of doing better (namalt, I know)

SecretWitch · 14/11/2018 14:44

Male violence against women transcends all race and religion.

How utterly terrified this poor woman and her children must have been. My thoughts are with her family.

BigChocFrenzy · 14/11/2018 14:44

Yup, yet another violent man who murdered his partner after she left him
Couldn't bear to let her be happy without him

The vast majority of murders and all violent crime are committed by men
white / black / brown / atheist / Christian / Muslim / Hindu .....

shearwater · 14/11/2018 14:47

The fact she's was a woman and mother is neither here nor there. Nobody should be murdered

It isn't irrelevant at all, given that the accused is her ex-husband and that he was obviously trying to kill her unborn child at the same time.

It's also relevant as it is yet another woman being murdered by a former partner.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 14/11/2018 14:50

I’ve just set up a direct debit thanks for the idea Cake (women’s aid )

That’s all I can do at this moment in time

It’s fucking appaling

Ijustwannadance · 14/11/2018 14:52

The article doesn't say the sex of her first 3 children. With new husband she already had 2 daughters. I wondered if it was because she was having son that he killed her after all this time.
I also think he would have killed the children too but the husband disturbed his plan.

Poor woman. Poor children.Flowers

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2018 14:54

"The fact she's was a woman and mother is neither here nor there. Nobody should be murdered."
Agree that nobody should be murdered. But the fact that she's a woman is relevant- women are the victims of 3 domestic murders a fortnight. It is a very specific type of crime that needs to be looked at very specifically.

Avegemitesandwich · 14/11/2018 14:54

I think "abusive ex murders woman" is a story that transcends all ethnic or religious categories.

This.

The fact she's was a woman and mother is neither here nor there.

Actually it is here and there. Male violence against women is still a big problem and this scenario of a man murdering his ex in front of their kids is depressingly common.

knittingdad · 14/11/2018 14:55

The killer was her ex-husband apparently

These stories are only deemed to be newsworthy when they are unusual in some way - when the murder weapon is a crossbow, or the victim is pregnant, or when the children are murdered too.

I think one step to bring it to an end has to be reporting on all the ordinary murders that are committed by men on their exes, not just the unusual ones.
