To think we have returned to the dark ages? Pregnant women killed with a crossbow

I just don't have the words, knife crime is vicious and horrific but using crossbows to kill a pregnant woman is just so beyond anything that I could express:

Please don't allow this thread to be derailed with racist or xenophobic thinking.

This thread is about a man killing a woman in front of 5 children.

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2018 08:34

Women are killed by men all the time. It doesn’t matter how.

Nanny0gg · 14/11/2018 08:36

I highly doubt that whatever sentencing was in place as regarding this kind of assault would have made the slightest difference.
Otherwise states that still have the death penalty would have no murders.
I think when emotions (jealoudy/rage) are involved then nothing would stop it happening

itsnowthewaitinggame · 14/11/2018 08:47

I immediately thought that the choice of weapon was actually quite conscious as he clearly wanted to make sure he killed the woman plus the unborn child

bellabasset · 14/11/2018 09:16

It made me shudder when I read it as it's horrific. Her dc's from her first marriage were living with her. Apparently her dh saw him outside and ran in to tell the family all to get out of the way but the ex burst in and shot her. The dh had initially thought he was the target.

How do families come to terms with this? They aren't at home due to the police investigation but can't imagine them being able to live there again.

Iused2BanOptimist · 14/11/2018 09:25

It's amazing how long these ex husbands nurse their grudges and let them fester. These two had parted some six years ago.
When is a woman safe after leaving an abusive relationship?

I had dealings with a man just this week, at work - he didn't want to call me by my first name as it was same as ex wife. He then went on to tell me all about how she had left him high and dry and with a debt which he named to the last penny. I asked when this happened, expecting it to be relatively recent due to the precision of his debt calculations - 23 years ago. So he's been stewing about this, complaining to anyone who will listen for 23 years. Not suggesting he was necessarily abusive but he certainly knows how to nurse a grudge.

OksanaAstankova · 14/11/2018 09:31

Utterly appalling.

I was surprised (in a good way) though that the linked newspaper article had lots to say about the victim and nothing about the murderer. Unless I missed it, there was no "what a fantastic father he was", "respected member of the community" bullshit that we normally get.

ShineOnHarvestMoon · 14/11/2018 09:37

"HonouR' killing is no such thing - it's murder. We really should not be ever ever using that term 'honour'. It's murder and misogyny.

TheWiseWomansFear · 14/11/2018 09:41

If you work out the ages she was 16 when she married him and he was 32 Shock

BertrandRussell · 14/11/2018 09:41

“HonouR' killing is no such thing - it's murder. We really should not be ever ever using that term 'honour'. It's murder and misogyny.”

Agreed. And completely irrelevant in this case anyway.

TheWiseWomansFear · 14/11/2018 09:41

Or maybe he was 30... it was early 30s

Antigon · 14/11/2018 09:51

No one has that I've seen. Why is every murder of an Asian women labelled as an honour killing?

He's a misogynistic murderous arse, regardless of his race/religion.

Tilly trotted, 3 women a week are murdered by their partners or ex partners in this country. What % of then do you think are "non Anglo Saxon"? Hmm

RedneckStumpy · 14/11/2018 10:51

Criminals will kill, if guns are illegal they will use the next best thing available. Therefore banning guns is pointless.

Wordthe · 14/11/2018 11:04

I'm very glad that guns are banned, yes criminals can obtain other weapons but there's a big difference between a crossbow and a gun
you can't conceal a crossbow very easily you need to be trained and strong to use it you can't fire multiple rounds, you don't get automatic crossbow weapons etc etc surely anyone can see the differences?

MimpiDreams · 14/11/2018 11:16

When it comes to male violence against women YABU to think we ever left.

Antigon · 14/11/2018 11:20

Tillytrotter

Unless there is an honest analysis of violent crime, especially knife crime, it will continue, the perpetrators know full well that that have the r-card on their side.

How on earth does this killer have religion on his side?! He will be charged and hopefully found guilty. Most Hindus would denounce him for this killing of an innocent woman!

Avegemitesandwich · 14/11/2018 12:00

The Anglo-Saxon population is by no means innocent but I would be willing to bet that the % of crime such a grooming, knife attacks, machete attacks and now cross-bow murders is lower in the A-S population than the population would imply.

What the actual fuck? Shock

Sweetie, the 'Anglo Saxon population' (sorry I had to stifle a chuckle at that) is plenty guilty when it comes to male violence against women.

Anglo Saxon?!

Antigon · 14/11/2018 12:09

And as 90% of paedophiles are AS then they definitely do the majority of grooming!

And when was the last cross bow killing?!

Stop politicising this poor woman's murder Angry

halfwitpicker · 14/11/2018 12:13

Anglo saxon?

Have I wandered into the 1200's?

Wtaf

JaneJeffer · 14/11/2018 12:15

Try telling that to the Normans Tilly

That poor woman. It's horrific.

MrMeSeeks · 14/11/2018 12:17

Poor family

MrsFogi · 14/11/2018 12:21

I don't think it is a "return" to the Dark Ages, we have never left them as far as violence towards women goes. The wonderful Jean Hatchet has been cycling for women like this for many, many years.....
