I like looking at the royal family on an official occasion. So do many others. Sorry about that.

As in, All service personnel serve in Her Majesty's Service. On joining about the first thing they do is to swear an Oath of Allegiance to the Crown. Above all the military officers. the ultimate BOSS is Her Majesty. That is why.

Was the queen sat at home having tea n biscuits with gdils or was she at remembrance event remembering the soldiers?

The Queen was also at Westminster Abbey later in the day for the Commemoration Service. Three of her children had been despatched by aeroplane or helicopter to be at services later in the day in the three other constituent parts of the UK, Andrew to Belfast, Edward to Cardiff and Anne to Edinburgh. I was impressed by that.

What is there to be appalled about?

Just looked up the photos you object to so much. I think they tell us that three women, were probably all praying and thinking about the grandmothers. mothers and soon to be mothers whose sons went to war and never came back.

The Queen is head of the Armed Forces. Both the duchesses' husbands are ex-Forces. How, irrelevant?

On a more cynical note, people like to see photos of people they recognise. And pretty women sell. Technically, shots of the princes in uniform might have been more "appropriate", but see above re: women.

People like the royals - their photos sell newspapers.

i like seeing the royal family, there has been so much coverage about Remembrance day and so many photos published of it other than the royal family.

Not totally irrelevant, but I agree that the focus should have been on the service personnel. Royals sell, and people, quite inexplicably, seem to give a shit about them and what they are doing / how they are dressed.
Obviously it's the nasty right wing nationalist rags that used the royals as headline photos. Because that's that their readers want.

What did you expect from those newspapers! Sorry but you should know the calibre of the 'journalism' from those rags, and if it upsets you, you need to stop looking at them! Obviously lots of other people like their offering though, so leave it to them to fawn over pictures of the royal women and you just chill out a bit :)
